    As far as boxing being unpopular in the US, yes maybe so, but in other countries it's about as mainstream as the NFL is here.

    One of the reasons I think boxing is frowned upon here is because of the heavy emphasis put on head injuries and how we look at past boxers with a "you want to talk like that" type attitude. When I was younger I took both boxing and wrestling. My parents put the encouragement on wrestling over boxing because of fear I'd get brain damage. I'm not joking about it...I seriously think this is a main reason we don't see it promoted here as much.

            That is nowhere close to the reason. The reason boxing is no longer a 'major' sport is because MMA has stolen the spotlight. Mix that with the 'corruption' and not a whole lot of 'marketable' fighters and you see what we have now.

                Yeah, there was no corruption in boxing in the 20s, the 30s, the 40s, the 50s, the 60s, the 70s................................
