    Re: Mayweather-Ortiz Sept 16th

People need to stop calling Flloyd a discrace to boxing. He's not. What pisses some of you Tom Brady/Peyton Manning types out there is that he's GOOD and refuses to act the way youd want him to. I'm not a fan of the dude. I want to see him go down because I just like to see stuff like that happend but a disgrace? Please, whatever. He's all about business when he steps in the ring and 42 people have not been able to handle that, apparently some of the public cant either.

Its Flloyd vs Pac or nothing at all. No one wants to pay top dollar to see either of these two fighters duck one another by fighter lesser opponents.

I want Floyd to fight Khan next. I think that's a tougher fight at this point.

Then I remind myself of Jim Lampely trying to get Emmanuel Stewart and Merchant to both say Ortiz came out the winner at the end. Glad neither fell for it.

Thank you. HBO at times is overboard with their anti-floyd agenda. We get it you guys don't like him but he is the top undefeated fighter so you have to televise him.

Yes he showed promise in the first couple of rounds but so did Oscar and Shane Mosley, two Hall of Fame fighters that Ortiz only wishes one day he can be mentioned in the same sentence with.

Maywether's defense is something of legend, and when you couple it with his speed and counter punching ablity (even though he doesnt hit that hard) and throw in how he is as a person with his personality it's more than enough to frustrate most people that get into the ring with him. So let's move on to who's fault it is that Ortiz lost...

It's Ortiz' fault. look people, that butt was BLATANT. It wasnt accidental, or was it one of those that older smarter more seasoned boxers deliberately do but know when to do it so at best its "questionable" that it was deliberate. Ortiz did nothing but show his youth and lack of real ring experience by 1. hitting him with such a blatant butt (which he could have easily been DQ'ed for) and then AFTER the fact trying to hug it out with a man in the ring who is all about business when that bell goes off, forget how he acts during interviews, pre-fight and post fight.

I think the butt pissed Mayweather off. I think He would have rather have went deeper into the fight further frustrating and outclassing this kid because well, he DOES like to show off but after that butt when you look at his face right before he threw the first punch it was like he was thinking "man, you know what I'm cool.. wait.. awww hell naw!!!". I think if it had been a boxer he actually respected (Oscar, Shane, probably even Berto) then I don't think he takes that shot during the "lets hug it out" moment. But Maywether looked at Ortiz after the butt as just some punk who needed to be taught a lesson, and that's exactly what happened.

Here's the thing though, Im not even a fan of Mayweather. I want to see him shut up and finally just get in the ring and fight the fight we ALL really want to see. BUT at the end of the day, some snot nosed kid who talked just as much crap as he did pre-fight walked into the ring with a seasoned pro, a living legend and he pretty much disrespected him in the right. The head butt was like catching a co-worker in bed with your wife or g/f so he was already pissed off. The "lets hug it out" was like "dude, yes I flat out boned your wife, I admit that but cant you just forget it and be friends with me now?"

I don't care for Maywether, but people need to get off his case about this. I think he was just like "man, let me just end this BS right now so I can go home, I'm tired of dealing with this kid". So he ended it. Poor taste? sure, but without that blatant butt, I dont think Ortiz gets knocked out the way he did lol. At the end of the day, Ortiz is the one who set the ball rolling for him to get ragdolled by a Maywether right hand.

            Re: Mayweather-Ortiz Sept 16th

The above post is ok with the exception that Floyd does not hit hard. Folks I am not saying he has one punch KO power but there is a reason fighters are not running up on him, especially a bigger fighter such as Ortiz. Ortiz had no issue running up on Berto but Floyd backed him up much of the night. His power is solid but what ads to it is how he throws the punches. His right comes from high and goes down across the temple and chin and its so fast its as good as any power shot in boxing. Its hard to appreciate at first glance but in slow motion, you see its jarring.

Going home with 30+ million and another win.....I don't think Floyd is too worried about getting booed. I know your a little upset with the decision but better luck next time. 42 people have all tried and failed....lol

You are 100% right about Floyd's power. He hits you with precision shots at all angles. What makes it worse is that he makes it so hard to land a shot on him. Those shots from Floyd might not not fighters out in 1 punch but it has a HUGE effect when your taking those kind of shots for 12 rounds

right, bc punching an old guy would have been the right thing to do.

answer the question, as he did, then tell him next question and or walk away. he made himself look like a bigger jag during that time on tv.

Seriously if the production gap was so big and Jim Gray wasn't there, I wish Floyd would just fight on Showtime.

but compubox is just wrong, I saw Ortiz land a jab so it's def not accurate as it could be.

Anyway, I avoided this thread and just saw the fight. All I can say is never in a million years would I have expected to see that. I don't even know what to think of it, it was just really crappy and the sad thing was that I was actually enjoying the fight and thought it was good (rare for me enjoying floyd fight)

                        Anyway, wtf LOL

                          1-31 isn't much better.

The more I think about it the more I don't blame Mayweather. Ortiz did a stupid headbutt, and got Mayweather pissed off because he was disrespected. He should've said that in his post fight interview though.
