Re: The producers are blaming boxing for this game failure
I haven't seen Team Brizzo claim this yet, but it wouldn't surprise me
I really don't know what to make of Brizzo/Jazz/Mike.....they seem like the types of guys Id want to make FN...They said all the right things leading up to launch..........
and then the game released
and 85% of it was broken.....and we were lied to about Online Gym Sliders
They deserved every criticism they got for how Technically bad the game was/still is....I reall don't feel like describing the long list again
As for gameplay....I thought they were moving in the right direction with the 1st Patch/Tuner(More Realistic).....they just needed to keep a cool head and fix up the problems from there..........but they panicked an caved in to all the alt account whining over there on the EA boards.....
There was a far better game to be had then that Pre-Patch shallowness....Im hoping they still believe that and want to Patch/Tune the game with the best of Pre-Patch+Best of Tuners to make that better Boxing Experience..........
But after that last Tuner Im not sure they still want to....If they want to casaul it up with Unlimited Stamina, Sonic Boom PBing, and Screen Flashes then they'll lose my faith in them completely............
As for the " Real Boxing is Bad shape, thats why sales are bad" arguement..thats just a terrible one to be made....
What has doomed FNC the most are two things
1. Poor Release Window/Lack of any Marketing
This game would have been so much better off releasing in late May-Mid June....so that they didn't have to go head to head with MK,MvsC3,Baseball, Killzone 3
2. The Bugs/Glitches/Freezes
This the most bug/glitch filled game Ive played since the Xbox/GC/PS2 Era....These have absolutely killed any positive buzz online about the game....Ive played very little of anything else besides the fight Now because of the glitches/Freezes.....
Hows anyone going to recommend a game where you can't enjoy 85% of it and may cause Console Damage??????Here We Go Steelers!!! Here We Go!!!

Re: The producers are blaming boxing for this game failure
It came out within weeks of three racing games, Tiger Woods 12, and the baseball games. Couple that with boxing trending down, and it just wasn't going to get a good initial sell through.
If it was a great game, it could have a long tail. I didn't pick it up becasue I just had too much other stuff on my plate. But I was really interested in checking it out.
But that has passed, and it turned out to be not awesome. Would I really get a lot of value over just playing my current copies of FNR3 and FNR4?
It won't make this forum happy, but EA needs to go much more arcade with this title. The realism kind of bogs it down. If they want to sell a million copies, realism is not the way to go.
These cats will spam the **** out of that straight, or remain stationary and do some other crazy **** and then run the rest of the time and win the rounds lol. I thought they addressed the spammers but I beg to differ, I still see it more often than not.
Its like pulling teeth trying to find a decent match. I like the game, but online is very hit or miss. I can most def see why some say online is straight oscar the grouchly (trash) lol.
Oh yeah, and the person who spoke on the blasphemy that is xp packs was right. Very bad move to let the win at all cost, selfish folks (most of the human race) get their hands on some **** like that.
I tell them cats, dont let OWC make you think you're good at this **** bro. Come see me in a standard head to head and I gaurantee I'll dismantle ya *** flat out. None of them have stood up to my challenge yet. My rant is over.Comment

Re: The producers are blaming boxing for this game failure
Boxing has been dying for 25 years now. Ask yourself, how many boxing gyms are in your area? Because the sport lacks a commish, it has never been able to overcome it pitfalls when tragedy happens. The day boxing changed forever was a fateful day in 1982 when many people including myself watched Duk Koo Kim die on Wide World of Sports. The public outcry started to push boxing out of the mainstream. Boxing was easily the second most popular sport to baseball at that time.I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....Comment

Re: The producers are blaming boxing for this game failure
Fight Night Champion's lackluster sales are due to a lot of things. As I stated above the economy plays a major role, Round 4 was dropped at a more prosperous time for the US. Second, it was dropped at a time when ALOT of new great games came out. There have been more titles dropped this year than any other in a long time.
Lastly, this time around the game remained largely unchanged. People saw the champion mode as a thinly veiled tutorial and the career mode as a version 1.2 and not a fully vetted career mode change.
Dynamic games sell. I point to Demon Souls which was released over a year and a half ago, is still floating in gamefaqs top 10 of PS3 games today. Its such a great and deep experience that folks are still buying it today.
The main thing that had me disliking the title from the beginning was the fact that they made it too easy to throw complicated punches, like hookacuts etc, which meant leaning is/was only useful on defense.
Throwing punches from angles is one of the (many) main reasons why FNR4 (with all it's faults) is still better than FNC. I remember reading somewhere that they wanted to get rid of some of the complexities of TPC, which left us with rock 'n' sock 'em gameplay.
Imo, they need to re-introduce the control scheme they already had in FNR4 and improve on issues they had in both round 4 and champion. Give us more control, more options in the virtual ring, not take them away.
Also, the whole Stamina thing is flawed., but that's another story.
DaveDQ, you know I have had a long time relationship with producers as far as communication goes and trust me it was said numerous times in email, in-person, and posted in the EA forums.

EA needs to go arcade with this title? My friendly look here, the title is already arcade lol. When you can go online and do some of the nutty **** these cornballs do, I would say its more arcade than sim man.

I'm a former boxer and trainer. People let the media fill their heads up with lies. Everybody saying boxing is dead because there is a KO artist heavyweight or getting the matches they want made. Boxing is doing good actually.
We have been having fight in the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ almost regularly. Zab Judah Tomaz Adamek have been regulars recently. If boxing was doing bad Pay-Per-Views wouldn't happen at all.Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment

Re: The producers are blaming boxing for this game failure
I don't see how some people would rather not see a good body or head shot over watching someone almost get thier leg or arm broken or the, so called, 'rear naked choke'! You mean to tell me people would rather watch Pro Wrestling over Boxing? The things some people fall for these days.. lolComment

Re: The producers are blaming boxing for this game failure
Bugs, and glitches, and everything? You know statements like this is why the series will die or never get better, right? I'm a huge Fight Night and boxing fan(30+ yrs.). I actually spent 13 years in the sport. This game has too many arcadey elements. EA says this game is a sim/realistic. This is a total lie.Poe is an advocate for realistic boxing videogames.Comment

Re: The producers are blaming boxing for this game failure
What's ignorant about what I said? What's so good about watching guys fight like animals or monkeys in a cage? In my opinion Boxing is the more manlyer AND balanced sport. In MMA the ground game rules, and it's actually just "Pro Wrestling" if you think about it. Every technique MMA has is also in WWE.Comment
