It is kind of curious, but I'd like to see the whole tape.

Tonight Lomachenko toyed with his opponent. He was so bored he threw in a lot of showboating.

Meanwhile, Claressa Shields delivered one of the most one sided beatings in championship boxing history no matter what you think of female boxing.

Shields landed 136 of 340 punches (40%) while her previously undefeated opponent Nikki Adler connected on 6 of 84 (7%). The fight was mercifully stopped in the fifth round.

Saw bits of the Lomachenko fight, and I hope the guy gets his *** tore up in his next fight. I don't like the kind of showboating he was doing. Show some respect in the ring. Though at one point I thought I saw the other guy intentionally go low in response to the taunting. That is definitely not cool either.

And regarding the women's bout, lopsided contests are far more frequent in all women's sports than they are in men's. The disparity in talent is sometimes jarring (e.g. women's NCAA BB being dominated by a couple of teams)

His in-fight analysis is fine, but those pre-fight antics with Teddy Atlas I can do without.

Yup. Atlas is always over animated. Plus they always agree all of the time

Lomo is cocky. He was asked who would give him trouble from 130-140 and he said, "That person hasn't been born yet".

Yeah, honestly the fight last night did more to start to sour me on Lomachenko than anything. I think I can understand that he gets bored in the ring because he's so much better than his opposition, and it's frustrating when a guy won't fight back to make a fight of it, but the whole taunting and clowning your opponent in the ring is something I've never liked and never wanted to root for a guy that does that stuff.

I respect his talent, and it's not his fault that there's no one in his natural weight class that can give him a fight, but I would have come away much more impressed if he just went about his business last night and left the disrespectful in-ring antics out of it.

I find that his skill level is so entertaining I give him a pass.

Can't believe Salido turned down $750,000 for the rematch.

Had no idea Lomo's fight was on ESPN, I checked both showtime and hbo last night as assumed there were no fights on...lol. That said, good job Top Rank going the PBC route and getting your fighters on "basic" cable.

Agree w/ Lomo's skill level, but....I still can't abide that stuff. I have so much respect for anyone that steps into that ring and puts himself in harm's way that I have a hard time stomaching how anyone can insult that effort. But showmanship has always been a part of boxing, so I freely admit it's just my own personal hang-up and nothing more than that.

I had the same thought about Salido...what's he got going on that he can piss-off a $750K payday? Did he make some really good investments or something?

You didn't miss anything, really. I give a lot of credit to Marriaga for not just showing up, but actually trying to implement some strategy and fighting Lomachenko, but at the end it was really just a televised sparring session. It would have been dynamite had the bout actually been Lomo-vs-Salido.

Politics. Bradley was an Arum fighter. I know Floyd and Arum fighters rarely fight each other.

Don't know if it will be televised but Bryant Jennings will fight on the undercard of Crawford-Indongo (SATURDAY, AUG. 19, ESPN), one year and eight months after Luis Ortiz knocked him out. It looks like the #2 undercard behind Oleksandr Gvozdyk/Craig Baker so it should make the TV cut.
