    Boxing Off-Topic

Just want to touch on one thing I saw about Garcia cutting off the ring.

Maybe he wasnt taught that, but he is a hard hitting counter puncher who likes to sit down on punches with his feet "flat" on the mat. Its worked for 33 of 34 fights.

He ran into a slick boxer-puncher who out classed him early with power, angles and speed. Fight ends that way 9 of 10 times unless Garcia catches him with a Khan fight type haymaker. Still want to watch both fight again and again.

garcia has to adapt (as floyd used to always say) to whatever fight happens in the ring....thurman did a great job of outboxing him, knowing about garcia's counterpunching skills.

Hmmm, I dunno. If I was in Vegas I'd put $100 on Curtis Stevens. I don't think there's a difference in talent there, just a clear power advantage for Lemieux.

I'd favor Lemieux even with John David Jackson in his corner, but maybe a little closer.

Sometimes you know what to do and you can't execute because your dealing with other matters, including Thurman's power and footwork.

              Sometimes you just get beat.
thurman-garcia drew 5.1 million in the ratings.....could this mean more fights on free tv? possibly other networks? could boxing surge in popularity? let's face it, ufc hasn't been stellar lately. rousey and conor lost. conor is on hiatus but keeps talking about floyd instead of his next mma fight. rousey looks to retire.

I hope. More fights on regular tv the better. It's also big going against the ufc and Duke vs NC that night too

                    I'll be there in person!

I agree Stevens has a better chance than 3-1. Neither guy has much defense, but I see Stevens as slightly more durable in the rare instance this fight goes the distance.

I still havent seen it because I got a contract gig that used up ALL my time. BUT I just read that it was boring and non-eventful. Not what I expected to read and it's too bad because on that big of a stage with nice buildup and promo and it was a dud? That's not going to convince networks to do it more - if it was an action fight it would have done wonders probably, but for now at least, we'll never know.

i wouldn't say boring....it was definitely tactical with some hard punches from both fighters who put their undefeated records on the line. thurman-porter was a much better fight and it was on free tv as well. who knows if we will see a fight like that again on free tv in our lifetime.

What a shot from Lemieux. Saunders or Eubank Jr next? Both of them are not currently scheduled to fight.

                              5.1m for Garcia-Thurman??
                              That's terrific.

Hopefully this means more championship fights on TV.
