Tough fight to score but it was pretty obvious GGG won the last round. Hard to figure why two judges who essentially gave the fight to GGG after nine rounds (barring Golovkin being knocked down) decided to give the 12th to Jacobs.

      12th Round Punch Stats

      Golovkin- Total Punches>31-67 (46.3%), Jabs>8-26 (30.8%), Power Punches>23-41 (56.1%)

      Jacobs- Total Punches>15-62 (24.2%), Jabs>2-17 (11.8%), Power Punches> 13-49 (28.9%)

Weird judging. I thought GGG won, but it was a close one.

Shame Chocolatito got robbed of his 0 by headbutts. Two very entertaining fights though, in their own right.

          Conspiracy theory time.
Is there a chance GGG held back a bit so Yellow wouldn't be continue to run scared?

Jacobs is a heck of a fighter though.
I thought if he pressed the fight more he would have a legit shot of stealing this one.
Seemed like he was content with just backpedaling and jabbing instead of engaging.
I thought 115-112 was a fair score in favour of Golovkin.

Jacobs is clearly legit, but how much of an advantage did he have by not doing a "day of" weigh-in per IBF rules? He even refused to have HBO weigh him in the day of the fight. GGG loves his belts so if a rematch happens look for a contract stipulation that forces Jacobs to comply to the ten pound rule. I take nothing away from Daniel in that regard-it was his right to forgo a chance at the IBF belt.

LOL, I think Yellow Canelo was the last thing on GGG's mind-he was in the fight of his life.

Jacobs was backpedaling but his jabs were missing (31-170). He did get some power punches in however, and just them being thrown was keeping Golovkin honest-the champ was wary of the power coming his way.

I thought 115-112 was a just decision, but I had no idea how the judges saw it especially after the Chocolatito verdict.

Definitely think Jacob's should get some decent fights in the future. Stock has definitely risen

Very slim odds of that happening but I think it's his only route to victory.
I was wrong about everything except the Jacob's not winning part. I underestimated his heart and toughness.

Curious about this; I was going to start a thread over it, but I don't think it's worthy of it's own thread, so I'll pose the question to you boxing guys.

Would you buy a $5 youtube ppv card?

The reason I ask is, I'm debating going this route. I know most if not all of you would not buy my production, but it's more along the lines of this; If all the boxers networks, promoters networks and publicity push bought in, it would pay for the production plus some extra to re-invest.

So I guess a better question would be this; if someone was fighting on a pro-card from your hometown and you follow his career even mildly - would you buy the $5 card on youtube?

Personally, I would say yes, but I'm too biased to really know. For example I posted what happened on a card that wasn't mine in Montreal with the ice-bucket and crazy fiasco on here - I WOULD have 100% paid $5 too see that card, even $20. Having said that, there was a card on last night streaming for free that I passed up, even with guys I know, because it was a promoter I don't care for and I was Binge-watching TV with my wife.

Very interested to hear some takes on this...

jacobs was impressive, to say the least....he was not scared of GGG at all. the knockdown was off balance and he wasn't hurt at all, but a knockdown none the less. that pretty much tipped the scales in GGG's favor for this fight. i would actually give jacobs a better chance in a rematch than canelo. now canelo HAS to win to keep the superfight in tact. he cannot avoid GGG any longer after he takes care of junior. but if he loses, all bets are off and jacobs gets his rematch sooner than expected.

I pretty much follow the top fighters. I don't even know any fighters from Louisiana. I'd pay $5 for a decent YouTube fight with world class boxers, but you expect that stuff on free HBO and free ShowTime now and then.

yeah I completely get that - but the future is via internet - more and more people cutting the chord.

My issue is that at least in Canada, the major networks simply aren't' interested in boxing. So I was thinking of just going around them and building an online fan-base. I'd only need about 2k buyers to make it worth while. There are always guys from Mexico and Argentina and often Europe and the states as well - so I'm not limited to 'local' in that sense.

I totally get your point and yeah, it could be too big of a hurdle for many to go for it. Actually speaking of HBO, they screwed us Canadians out of the last Lemieux fight. HBO Canada didn't air it, so the only way to see that fight was illegal streaming or if you were in Quebec to buy a $60ppv ... craziness.

I'd be hoping to appeal to major boxing enthusiasts as well as the extended network of everyone involved. It's a good point though, like a run-of-the-mill PBC card, would I buy it online for $5 ? I don't know, def not now because I can get them and pay for cable, even if I didn't it would be a tough sell for a no-name fighter.

This is exactly why I'm struggling with the decision.

Coincidentally I just recently signed up for a 7 day trial of HBO through Amazon's Streaming service. The $4 bucks I'm saving versus my U-Verse service wasn't that big a deal, but I figured it was a step toward "cutting the cord", albeit a small one. Then I saw that one of my favorite live shows (better left unmentioned) had a two week delay and that live HBO Boxing was not part of the deal. I canceled my trial immediately.

                            I'll put it this way.

I've been spoiled with WWE Network (and to a very slightly lesser extent due to blackouts, MLB Network.)

If boxing were to somehow offer a catch-all $15/20 per month deal I would absolutely do it. Same for the UFC.

I doubt UFC ever will, but there's absolutely too much bull**** between promoters/boxers/companies in boxing to ever do that. I'd definitely think about plunking down a couple bucks for a quality broadcast on YouTube between fighters that have the potential for an exciting matchup. Maybe not just anybody, but if it looks good that price is right for relative unknowns I think.

The wwe network is one of the greatest deals every created. I keep on waiting for them to raise the monthly price and continue not to. The ufc pass doesn't compare to the wwe network in any aspect for value for your money
