Re: Boxing Off-Topic
That right hand of his is just nuts though. Ortiz was winning easily through 5+ rounds and then out of nowhere he catches him cleanly and hurts/drops him at the end of 6.
His killer instinct after he has someone hurt is awesome, though that is when he tends to get the most wild.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I entered this fight as perhaps the world's biggest Wilder skeptic. After last night, I'll never sh*t-talk the Bronze Bomber again.
That was a statement victory. Wilder took multiple huge shots from arguably the biggest puncher in the division and stayed on his feet, especially in the seventh. What a beard -- who knew? And while he's still awkward as hell, Wilder proved he knows how to finish.
Wilder-Joshua is the biggest fight that can be made in boxing. It must be made next if Joshua beats Parker. Wilder's iron is red-hot now, as my 17-year-old son -- who doesn't follow boxing -- said social media was buzzing last night about the fight.
The two best guys in the marquee division of the sport. Both physical specimens. Both English speakers. Both charismatic and well-spoken.
This is a dream matchup for our beloved sport. Make it happen!Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Awesome fight! Wilder answered alot of questions last night. He has heart, he has one heck of a chin, and he knows how to dig deep. Incredibly exciting fight and great for boxing. It was great to see twitter going crazy after the fight. Boxing is alive and well and so is the top of the heavyweight division. It's great to see!

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I could have given Ortiz the first four rounds or at least three. Wilder was being very cautious with the right especially after absorbing some counter shots.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
The only way Ortiz was winning that fight was by knockout. PBC and Showtime have far too much invested in Wilder to let him lose by decision, and both want to cash in on the superfight with Joshua.
House fighters getting huge edges from judges are a sad reality in a sport in which promoters pay judges' fees for most cards.
Boxing needs a national sanctioning body and commissioner, just like every other major sport. Lou DiBella would be the perfect candidate, IMO.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I don't have a problem with their scoring. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I had it 2 to 2 after the first 4 rounds. That's the key, along with the 7th round in which I did NOT score 10-8. I never do without a knockdown. Anyone's scorecard could look different based on the first four rounds in which there wasn't much action. In my opinion either fighter could have been up a point or two after 9 roundsComment

Golovkins manager recenlty said they know Alvarez will get one judge every fight regardless so they have to win convincingly.
It's such a corrupt sport. One that is left to govern itself.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I'm not shocked in the least.
This would explain how he can shrink from 160 (or 154) to 20+lbs 24 hours later without losing any strength.
Makes GGG's first victory even more impressive.
