Every fight fan I know has a love/hate relationship to the sport. I would have thought I'd be completely "out" on boxing some time ago, but then every once in a while some fight comes from out of nowhere that I didn't expect and reminds me why I sit through so many crap cards.
When I started following boxing it was more mainstream and driven by Ali's comeback and next by the late 70's emergence of Sugar Ray Leonard. The corruptness or hint of it never really bothered me.

Boxing is one of the most pure sports inside the ropes and one of the filthiest outside of the ropes. It's a dichotomy with which most boxing fans struggle, including me.

Yeah, but unless I'm missing something nothing is signed. Joshua's guaranteed number would probably be in the $40 million range.

While I don't think he has a chance to win. I really hope Wilders team gets to bring one judge with them....just not Adelaid Byrd.

Almost certain there will be a judge from the UK, one from the USA and one from a "neutral" country. Frankly, I trust UK commissions far more than state commissions from the USA.

It's a tough call for me to assess Wilder's chances mainly because after reflection I'm not sure if he beat a lesser "boost-less" Ortiz.

The current consensus odds have Joshua favored at 4-9, and Wilder the dog at 7-4.

Almost certainly. Look at Joshua's last fight against New Zealand's Joseph Parker- a US, UK, and New Zealand judge.

based off joshua's last performance, i would think wilder's chances are better than they were before....i pretty much expected joshua to knock out parker.

let's hope this gets signed.....especially after the ggg-canelo fallout, i need something to look forward to.

                          Not surprised.
Wilder is awesome. He doesn't duck anyone and is willing to take less and fight in anyone's backyard.
I wish more fighters were like him.

You forgot the early years of his Haymon-addled career, during which he fought NO ONE.

That list of career foes isn't exactly Murderers' Row. You can make case that Ortiz is the only truly legitimate opponent Wilder has faced.

I think this was around the first DLH fight.

I wonder if he was juicing his whole career?
Didn't seem to bother Vernon Forest though.

As edaddy said, I think it's a lot more prevalent in boxing than most (including me) want to admit.
I knew a guy who was juicing while competing as an amateur and he said it's more than just the added strength, but wind and injury recovery as well.
He claimed to take a drug that allowed him to run 15miles without much effort. Prior to that, he struggled to run 5 miles.
He also said all the bruises, soreness and fatigue was a non-factor once he started using.

But I'd like to hear what Evan Fields has to say about all of this.
yes sir I agree with ya..I don't know how long he was juicing but that 300 lb and 500 lb story came out when he was moving up..he also had some serious power and speed and did not seem to tire.he might have admitted to only doing it in 2003 but we all know he would be crazy to admit that he had been doing it all along..Vernon Forest simply had his number..he beat him in the amateurs and was just too big at welterweight for Mosley at 6ft with a 73" reach..Mosley is a small cat..all I can remember was him getting slower , tiring quickly and his body type changing after the roids debacle..You are correct about roids people think they are just made to put on muscle but in essence they help you recover quicker, train longer and harder, and certain types can give you extreme stamina..Body builders take it for the recovery factor as well as the muscle building effects but I know several players who took them simply to recover from injury and to prevent soreness.. It's in EVERY sport some of our favorites just haven't gotten caught and many never got caught..It's funny but people always wonder how Thomas Davis a football player for the Panthers played at a high level after 4 ACL surgeries, numerous shoulder injuries and at a advanced age and wolla he gets caught last week for juicing..Of course according to him it was the supplements.. makes you think about athletes who can either come out of no where or those that play at a high level in their late 30's and 40's..Now don't get me wrong there are freaks of nature out there like lebron, Bo etc..but even I will have to start checking Lebron if he keeps performing like this into his late 30's..lol..

Parker fought a good fight and had a great game plan againts a bigger stronger opponent. Joshua knew parker was going to box and came in lighter and as a result had increased stamina..i just don't think Joshua is a good defensive fighter at this point and is overly cautious and can get shook..Wilder while unorthodox has that one hitter qutter power but can he land that before Joshua lands his..I still think Wilder has a shaky jaw and that Ortiz was limited in terms of power and speed because he was off the roids..I see a cautious fight with it only opening up when Wilder gets too impatient and undisciplined too continue boxing..I still am not sold on either one but it's the best fight in that division..They need to make that money now because a "Big Baby" fight can ruin someones plan because of his power..
