DAZN want him to fight two UFC fighters, lol.
Premier fighters? With so many belts, jr weight divisions and then catchweights, it's nearly impossible for two fighters, both in their primes to face each other.
Then you get promoters and managers who like to 'marinate' bouts (which is a really nice way of saying, "We're waiting for that dangerous fighter to get old, or lose his edge, and then we'll pounce").

This sport is soooo hard to love or defend.
Imagine the Superbowl champ refusing to play NFL teams, instead spending 2 years competing against CFL teams, NCAA programs or Rugby teams forced to play with NFL rules?
That's basically boxing in a nutshell.

I'm not surprised because of the makeup of the deal and the huge amount of "supposedly guaranteed" money. I know DAZN is disappointed it didn't get Canelo-GGG III but I'm not sure that fight could sustain the entire contract obligation.

Canelo could go up and fight Callum Smith at 168, but I think he's in coast and sue mode right now.

Have any of you guys ever ordered a PPV fight and then been able to watch it later? Some pals and I were talking about potentially getting the Charlo card this weekend (I'm sorta indifferent but as a social thing, why not?), but we also wanted to sneak a round of golf in before. Probably won't be able to get back in time to watch most of the card, but I would still get the fight if you could watch it afterwards or delayed by 2-3 hours.

Weird question I know, just wondering if anyone has any experience with this kind of thing?

It depends on your platform/provider. I've ordered PPV in the past where I could watch anytime I wanted over the next 24 hours. The thing I don't know and haven't tested is DVR (FF/Pause/REW) during a live PPV. I would imagine that potentially it would be disabled but I don't know for sure.

Thanks, I think all of the functions are disabled if I order through my cable provider but I just don't know about ordering through the apps (e.g. AppleTV, Showtime app).

Too late now LOL, but I have usually used a cable provider such as Cox and U-verse for PPV and I usually record it but I believe there was always a morning replay available.

I ended up getting it but it was a waste of time and money, for the most part. Mostly just did it because my buddies wanted to do it (and it's not like there's anything else to do or anywhere else to go these days). Hard to believe that was a PPV card, especially at $75 (what a waste of money), but that's where we are with boxing these days I guess. This would have been an average Showtime Championship Boxing or HBO boxing card on a random Saturday night just 10 years ago.

I have no idea what the buys were like, but I doubt we will ever know because it was probably embarrassingly low. All I know is that I'm embarrassed for having bought the fights.

Man I couldn't pull the trigger on that PPV..The fights were predictable for the Charlos fighting against good but not great contenders that would provide a decent fight. Those fights were made for Showtime and again I am puzzled about charging $75 for middle of the road opponents in the current times we are in. The only fights' I would pay for is Lomo-vs Lopez and Spence vs Crawford. and one of those is free which will do more for boxing than anything...

I'm pleasantly surprised that Lomo VS Teofimo Lopez is actually on "free" ESPN this Saturday night.

Anyone see the press conference today? I had been leaning to Lomo because he will take Lopez to deep water but Lopez is giant compared to him He just looks much physically bigger and stronger and he has world class speed and power on top of it..Lomo got his work cut out for him

Lomachenko has taken some shots in recent fights and Lopez could hurt him badly. My concern for Lomo is that Teo's raw power is even more lethal because of his expert timing and hand speed. I don't know if Lomo's all-time great footwork and brilliant boxing acumen can carry the day. Great matchup though.
