The lightweight division should be carrying boxing. Over the next 12 months the four 'kings' should be fighting each other to determine the best at 135.
Instead, I bet none of them fight each other till 2022. At the earliest.

I get your take on it, but to me this past one I believe was at the same time as a UFC fight night? (free ones) DAZN is a subscription - but even if UFC was a ppv I don't believe it matters. They shouldn't be concerned with people flipping channels and do that waiting thing.

The waiting CAUSES people to leave - and I'm now in that camp. They are alienating fans who either don't care about the UFC OR who were MORE interested in boxing's BIGGEST STAR than mid-tier UFC fighters.

So in my case I had UFC DVR'd probably and was ready for the main event. Instead they KILL all momentum they had and just wait and kill time and bore the crap out of their audience (causing them to watch something else or do something else until the main even FINALLY comes out).

You just can't treat an audience like that - they dont want commercials and endless commentary - especially with those clowns and Garcia just sitting there trying to look cool.

The producers should be fired and ashamed - whomever made that call - It would be better to have the fight Friday night or even Sunday - like if you're going to lay down for the UFC and refuse to go head to head (really) than just don't? why TF do they make the WORST POSSIBLE decision. I HATE IT lol

They need someone like Connor McGreggor to make fun of them like he did to that showtime exec haha

        Is this fight still happening?
        Heard Wilder-Ruiz is a thing.
        Maybe after the Areola fight?

I think DAZN and Canelo did split, but Canelo agreed to fight 2 more times or something on DAZN (basically spend the first half of 2021 on DAZN until he works out whatever he's doing next). That original deal was stupid from the start and made no sense, and pandemic or not, there was no way DAZN was ever going to be able to find enough quality fights for Canelo (that he would actually take) to make that mega-deal worth it. It looked dumb at the time, and even dumber now.

DAZN does suck, though. What's the value proposition there? 2-3 nights in an entire year that might have a card or even just a fight you want to see? DAZN would be a rip-off at 1/10th of the cost, but at $20/month, it's highway robbery. There is not enough content to justify its existence.

Comical. Almost as mind-boggling as a Claressa Shields-led all-female PPV card that apparently happened last week (?). What is going on here? Do I not understand the boxing market at all, or are the people in charge of making fights/cards just completely off the reservation of reality at this point?

I think we're back to the days of boxing being a carnival side-show at low-brow traveling entertainment venues. Boxing now occupies a space in the American (world?) sports consciousness somewhere between pickleball and axe-throwing.

3 of the top Super Flyweight fighters going this weekend.
I have to believe if both Chocolatito and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai win we see a trilogy match between the two.
Ioka is likely going to want in on this too.
            Really underrated division.

RIP "Marvelous" Marvin Hagler. Easily the best middleweight I've ever seen. Gone too soon [emoji3037][emoji3037]

He was awesome. Never ducked anyone. Did roadwork in army boots.
You never had to worry about getting anything less than 100% from him.
They don't make them like Hagler anymore.

Why? Why do I follow this sport?
Chocolito won. It was pretty clear. Yes, it was a competitive fight, but Roman won at least 7 rounds.
Guess the promoters wanted a trilogy between Estrada and WW.

The Hagler-Hearns "War" was the best 3 round fight that will ever happen. That fight alone is worth Canastota admission for all involved.

I’m always curious how people figured Hagler got robbed in that fight. I think it might have been the “showmanship flurries” at the end of some rounds that irritated Marvelous fans. Duran inflicted 5 times as much damage to Leonard in Duran-Sugar I as Marvin did in his lukewarm and unimpressive effort against a smaller and much more inactive opponent (Yeah, he supposedly had some “secret real fights” but show me the tapes). Still it was a close fight but however that decision landed nobody would have got robbed.

                              Conor Benn is looking legit.
Barely any amateur fights but he's improved a tonne from when he first started.

The Courtney-Bridges fight was really good too.
Both fighters showed great heart. Bridges left eye was basically shut by the 6th round and she took a couple heavy shots that shook her but she refused to go down. And she kept coming forward.
