There's like zero footage of him at WW, only clips here and there that show his best. That is no way to rate or judge a fighters ability. People should judge with their own eyes and make up their own opinion. Richard Steele has been a ref for a long time. He's seen A LOT of great ones up close. If he thinks Mayweather is greatest so be it. Watching someone fight live in person and on T.V. is completely different. I remember going to see Jones Jr. live when he was in prime and he looked better than he did on T.V.

Yeah, Sugar Ray was amazing. Wins 40 fights fights in a row, loses to Lamotta (only loss as a welterweight), then goes on a 91 fight unbeaten streak, which included two draws and a no contest. So leading up to his losing middleweight title bout against Turpin his record was 129-1-2.

        Boxing Off-Topic

Yeah. Saw that earlier today. It's the week of guys getting sued in the boxing world. I'm pretty much over Mayweather and Pac as there are a lot of fights that interest me more. Looking forward to Kirkland - Canelo this weekend. I think both guys will be aggressive and get after it, although Canelo can go to plan B and box if the going gets tough. The atmosphere will be electric. I hope Canelo wins and Cotto takes care of Geale. Cannel vs Cotto is big business. Not sure if we will get them but here are some other fights I would like to see made:

        GGG vs Froch or Ward
Adonis vs Kovy - would be huge in Canada
Wlad vs Fury - would be huge in the UK
        Wlad vs Wilder
Brook vs Khan - would be huge in the UK
        Crawford vs Garcia

          Re: Boxing Off-Topic

I think everyone knew in the wake of the biggest payday in boxing history, lawsuits would be flying left and right from everyone even peripherally involved in the business.

This is an obvious statement and not a surprise to anyone, but boxing is just f(*&^'n dirty and despicable, it's just better not to even think about it. It's like watching a movie or TV show - it requires suspension of disbelief in order to be enjoyed. I still look forward to the fights and watch it as much as possible, but I try not to think about what a sh*t-show it is under its ultra-thin veneer that's barely concealing anything. Seeing Haymon and others of his ilk in the ring before and after virtually every fight nowadays just makes me eye-blind to him - like ads on a website, you learn to just ignore it.

The one interesting tidbit that I learned from reading that article is the bit about why Richard Schaefer was bounced from Golden Boy - makes a lot of sense if he was de facto running Haymon's business for him through Golden Boy without Golden Boy having any contracts with the fighters. I'm not taking sides one way or the other (I have no idea what the real details or issues are, obviously) but if you're Oscar, I can see why the falling out happened.

Kirkland has a lot of heart but Canelo just laid him out. Good targeted attacking by Canelo. He's improving and much less rigid than before.

                IT IS TIME.....GGG vs Canelo.

Love Kirkland fights, he really is a warrior. He ate a lot of hard punches. All the best to him, not sure why he is the with Anne Wolfe anymore.

After he faces Cotton we'll see if they can make a GGG matchup happen, wonder what would stop it.

One of them leaving their current promoter or going to showtime are the only real threats to that fight.

Can I ask, what is the reason for Canelo to fight Cotto first? Cotto is 34 to GGG's (holy hell really?) 33.....well never mind I thought GGG was in his late 20s.

Lmao yea only reason I'd say cotto first is money, maybe PPV. Cotto has a fan base as opposed to GGG.
Either way looking forward to these match ups

Damn, canelo laid kirkland out. I thought he would ko him, wasn't sure how vicious it would be. Canel vs cotto or GGG is a match i'm interested, especially the GGG match.

I guess there is a perception that Cotto doesn't have as much left in the tank after getting brutally KO'd by Margarito and getting punished by Pacquiao. He almost went down in the 12th against Mayweather (if I remember right).

I didn't know GGG was that old.

I'm a big fan of Kirkland's fighting style too. He wants to go out on his shield.
He's a Gatekeeper now, but I'll watch every fight he's in.
Considering his only 2 losses are from out of Wolfe's care, he should consider getting back together with her.

Canelo-GGG has to happen too. But I fear if it they fight within the next 12 months, it may ruin Alvarez's career.
GGG has to be the most devastating fighter since a prime Mike Tyson. I actually don't fault anyone for not wanting to fight him.
Cotto is probably very wise to avoid him.
