One dissapointing aspect of the Stevenson/Bika fight was it looks like Haymon is still struggling to get advertisers. Damn near every commercial was either one promoting future PBC boxers or CBS shows. He will lose a ton of money if he cant generate ad dollars.

Was it a struggle for advertising or just Haymon's decision to promote his stable?

Struggle. This happens alot with timebuys. For example, when MMA promotion WSOF did its first time buy they only had one sponsor: MMA Clothing line "Jaco".

Damn near every commercial was a Jaco commercial because they had no one else. There is NO way Haymon would turn away money from advertisers to us commercial time to promote his fighters. You can do that through 30 min specials (like the one that aired on NBCSN yesterday about Garcia/Peterson) and ads during other times.

^Definitely ready for those fights, hope these commentators do a better job than Leonard and Albert did, they were horrible. Also, i think the week after this, chavez fights fonfara and mattyshee fights provodnokov. Good fights coming up.

Garcia couldn't or chose not to make weight, so his 140 lbs titles are not on the line. Peterson had no complaints. He will compensated more, but no figures are in. The catch-weight is 143.

                Jaybee,

The fight was always at 143. Garcia and Peterson decided that when they signed the deal. Garcia is looking to move up to 147 next fight and didnt want to make another cut to 140.

Kind of confusing, because Nydailynews online April 9th headline is "Danny Garcia's bout vs. Lamont Peterson at Barclays Center downgraded to a non-title fight" . Within the story read this: "But the bout on NBC in prime time was soon downgraded to a non-title fight at 143 pounds because Garcia couldn’t make the 140-pound weight limit."

I think when they first announced the fight in January in was a 140 unification bout, but two or three days later Garcia had other ideas. I jumped the gun on the headline because since mid-January it has been a 143 lbs catchweight fight.

Danny Garcia, left, and Lamont Peterson at a news conference in New York announcing their bout to unify boxing’s light welterweight titles as part of the Premiere Boxing Champions series on NBC. (Seth Wenig/Associated Press)

5 or 6 days later they announced in was a 143 non-title bout.

Anyway I jumped the gun on the misleading April 9th headline.

Interesting that Peterson will lose his IBF 140 crown if he loses on Saturday.

How long before every weight class between 126 to 175 is separated by 3lbs?
We can have Super-Super and Super-Junior weight classes. Oh what fun.

The various belt organizations would love it as they can get more fee's from having 17283837 champions out there.

Side note, I wonder if Chavez Jr will eventually move back down to Super-Middleweight.
I see him getting absolutely destroyed against guys like Kovalev, Stevenson and Beterbiev.
His fight against Fanfara is no joke. I think it'll answer a lot of questions regarding what his future holds.

Then you have Silver champions, Super champions...etc.

Unless something has changed I think this is a 172 pound "all too familiar" catchweight fight. Chavez's best opportunity is to goad GGG to a 168 matchup, or fight Frosh before he retires. Groves would be a pretty big fight too.

Lamont Peterson weights in at 165lbs prior to the fight????

I know I'm in the minority with this opinion, but I really want rules changed so that a fighter has to weigh under the limit 2-hours before the fight.

                        Peterson is a damn Super-Middlweight!!
(Garcia is 157lbs so it's not a lot better.)

I just think it kind of makes a mockery of the weight classes.
It makes me wonder what the overall landscape would look like if guys had to weigh under the limit when they walked into the ring.

^Just goes to show that a lot of these guys are crunching down to make smaller weight classes. I have a lot of respect for fighters who stay around their weight classes and don't balloon up(floyd mayweather, andre ward, b hop, manny pacquiao). But if they did enforce a rehydration limit, i feel like it would hamper a lot of fights because a lot of fighters seem to rely on it sadly.

Was it my imagination or was Sugar Ray cheerleading for Peterson most of the fight? I'll have to watch it again. Close fight, hard to score.

Both good fights. Quillin and Lee was a "tactical bomber-fest" if there is such a thing.

Maybe, I think he was just trying to be a counter to the other guy. Garcia did the same thing(s) that Petterson did early, late in the fight. It was tough to score and I have no issue with the scores being what they were. Petterson needs to start coming out in fights the way he finishes them.

Totally agree. I'm not sure why Peterson waited so long to engage. Perhaps he gave Garcia too much respect?

I like Garcia, but I feel he's overrated. I felt he lost to Herrera last year and Khan was feeding him his lunch until Garcia landed a great shot on a very suspect chin.

He may be undefeated but he's had one too many fights where he either got a gift decision or his power had to save him.

I wonder if he's going to officially move up to 147 now? I'm not so sure that 'goosegg' he owns will stick around after he's forced to fight the best welterweights in the world.

The Lee-Quillen fight was great! If that KD in the 3rd had been correctly ruled a slip, he wins this fight.

I'm a really big fan of Lee's. He doesn't duck anyone and comes to fight every night.
He's not the best 160-fighter out there and I think GGG puts him on the rack, but Lee may be one of the very few premier Middleweights that would relish a shot at the champ.
I'd love to see this fight. It may not last long, but it'll be exciting.
