    Re: Boxing Off-Topic

Yep, I had it 116-112. Gave Floyd the 2nd round and rounds 6-12. I thought that Marcos did a good job early in the fight of taking the fight to Floyd, but his work rate and effective punching went away in the last half of the fight. He spent too much time in the middle of the ring with Floyd where the advantage is clearly Floyds. I think that Floyd will fight once or twice more and call it a career. At 37 years old facing a guy with a 20 lbs functional weight difference I think Floyd was worried for the first time since the Castillo fight.

All in all it was a very good fight, much more entertaining than the last few.

Floyd needs to fight Manny. If MP is such an easy fight and not deserving of a shot according to Money (since Pac-man lost to Bradley and Marquez), then how can he say Maidana is more worthy when Chino lost to inferior competition in Amir Khan and Devon Alexander? Come on Floyd. Just get in the ring with MP and add another victory to your long resume of fighters you have bested: Corrales, Gatti, Castillo, De La Hoya, Hatton, Marquez, Guerrero, Judah, Mosley, Ortiz, Alvarez, and now Maidana.

Probably won't happen because of the golden boy vs top rank feud, not to mention arum and floyd hate each other.

The fight could be made if Mayweather wanted it to be made. Clearly, he is the one now who doesn't want to fight Pacquiao. Call it what you want. I think he'd win the fight, so that's why I find it so strange that he is ducking him. I think FM would get the biggest payday fighting Pac-man, and, if he won, he'd finally put to bed his critics' main complaint against him: he didn't fight the other great fighter of his era. If I were Floyd, I'd take one last fight against MP and then ride off into the sunset. I think a convincing win over Pac-man and there would be no questions left.

I mean really, who else is there left for Mayweather to fight other than Pacquiao? A rematch with Maidana? Do we really need to see that fight again? JMM? He already shut him out once. Bradley? Please. There is really only one fight left to be made that makes any sense:

              Manny Pacquiao.

Fight doesn't make any sense in 2014 to be honest. This was the fight we all wanted to see 5 years ago. Now, not so much. Manny had a good "bounce back" against Bradley but he beat him the first time IMO. He got killed by a guy that couldn't even put a glove on Floyd and fights in a very similar style. The sun has set on the Pacquio fight in my eyes, its no worth $75.

There are good fights out there for Floyd though. Keith Thurman is a name I would love to see Floyd fight, but I think Thurman poses to great a threat for Floyd to take that fight.

Can we please stop with the "Floyd is the one who doesn't want the fight made" spiel? Pacquaio is just as much at fault for that fight not happening.

Eh, i wouldn't mind seeing him fight thurman, but he's very untested, he needs to at least beat shawn porter before stepping up to floyd. Who has thurman fought? Maidana, and even canelo have fought better opposition than thurman has.

Amir Khan is probably the next fight or possibly a Maidana rematch since he did the "best" against Floyd since maybe that fist Castillo fight 10 years ago?

                        That's interesting.

The Associated Press scored it for Mayweather 115-113.

I'm one that never said that, but after last night a fight with Keith Thurman becomes really interesting.

Untested or not, Thurman has stunning physical ability. Maidana gave Floyd all he could handle. I think Thurman would give him more.

I'd love to see Mayweather fight these 4 guys to end his career:

                            1. Manny Pac-Man
                            2. Amir Khan
                            3. Danny Garcia
                            4. Keith Thurman or Shawn Porter either one.

If they could all meet at the right weight, If FM took that lineup down & finished at 50-0, He might be the greatest of all time!

                              He's not fighting Thurman.

Actually, being tested matters. Raw physical ability is nice, but it takes more than that. Maidana gave floyd a good fight(it wasn't AS close as people make it seem, he missed a lot of punches and landed less while throwing 200 more) but he did that by being awkward and not letting mayweather get comfortable. Thurman is offensive, and powerful and athletic, but he doesn't fight like maidana, nor does he have his experience. Come to think of it, i can't think of anyone as relentless as maidana recently. Styles make fights. Hell Canelo was huge and pretty athletic, and people said floyd would never fight him. He got picked apart, and he's been in there with better guys than thurman has, and he's probably the better fighter than maidana on paper. Maidana's experience helps, and being tested matters.
