    Re: Boxing Off-Topic

^I enjoy em' both. For the most part if i knew any boxer was retiring soon and they were good, i'd probably try and watch their last fights.

Brook, porter, or cotto don't really deserve the mayweather fight, brook's last opponents haven't been anyone, mayweather already beat cotto convincingly, and porter isn't quite ready. I'm definitely ready to see porter vs broner tho.

I honestly wasn't that impressed with khan's performance over algeri either, a while back i said he would be a trickier match up for floyd than pacquiao, but now i realize, he just has the tools to be a trickier match up(hand speed, height, reach) but he doesn't know how to use them effectively enough to be a threat. Ideally, khan would fight thurman or brook and the winner of that would fight mayweather.

It doesn't matter if Brook deserves it, Floyd ain't giving it to him.

Brook beat a very good fighter in Porter, he's the Ring number one contender, and undefeated. He deserved any fight he could get when he beat Porter 9 months ago. (IMHO)

I'm also ready to see Broner-Porter, but that will be a tough one for Adrien.

yeah. Guys this was a good action fight - I was entertained and I don't need anything other than that to enjoy a fight. Algieri got wiped out by pac, but this was a great TV fight to watch. Lots of action, both guys getting hit and making adjustments. I really enjoyed it - BUT that has nothing to do with floyd - and honestly it wasn't even in my mind before, during or after the fight.

I watched the Johnny Tapia documentary on HBO last night. I forgot how entertaining of a fighter he was. Sad that he couldn't get past his own personal demons. He would have had a real chance at being undefeated if he could have. Incredible left hook and straight right hand.

Premier Boxing's NBC card at 3PM ET features Robert Guerrero versus light hitting Aron Martinez and Jesus Cuellar versus almost 40 but tough veteran Vic Darchinyan.

Guerrero's cred went up a notch in a loss to Thurman, but his opponent is a tough fighter with little punch a notch below him. No shame in getting beat by Mayweather and pushing Thurman, but I'm not really interested in a tuneup fight.

Somewhat interested to see how long Darchinyan can last against Cuellar.

A few hours later on HBO Cotto-Geale could be a decent fight.

All about money, and it's a big problem in boxing. Cotto arrogantly demands catchweight fights or nothing and gets them. It's no problem at all if it's a non-title fight but the guy is defending his 160 pound crown.

The Geale fight is at 157.

Yeah, i thought that was messed up, i like cotto, but i'm not a fan of how he's acting recently. He should just drop the middleweight belt and let other real middleweights fight for it honestly. I wonder if his catchweight attitude has anything to do with roach's influence.

it's bad enough that every weight class has a "junior" and "super" in between them. there should be no need for catchweights. middleweight is 155-160....therefore it should be up to the fighter to choose the weight he fights at as long as he weighs in anywhere between 155-160. a weight division is what it is, and catchweight fights need to stop.....just my opinion

Yeah, i honestly wish there weren't so many junior and super divisions, it's a bit ridiculous. And catchweight fights shouldn't be common, those should only be used occasionally. Honestly the only division i think should have a super,is the only division that doesn't have one, heavyweight. It's just 200 and up, or whatever the weight limit is.

Yeah, I noticed that. Plus he pleaded his case that he's not really a middleweight.

A great fight if him and Canelo hook up though.

Cotto vs Canelo is a fight i'm definitely looking forward to! for what it's worth, EVERY fighter should have a long pause when asked about fighting GGG!

I like Miguel Cotto, but he needs to get out of here with that "if you don't agree to the catchweight, the fight ain't happening" nonsense.

Why tho. Catch weights are a fight fans best friend. Smaller guy goes up, little guy goes down. Much better than one fighter gaining or losing all the weight.

If a few pounds both ways nets fight fans a great mega fight that's should be the least of problems.

If you're fighting for the middleweight championship the catch weight should be 160. If your fighting for the super middleweight title the catch weight should be 168, etc., etc.

I have no problem with any non title catch weight fight. Both parties agree to it, then that's that.
