Considering his only 2 losses are from out of Wolfe's care, he should consider getting back together with her.

Canelo-GGG has to happen too. But I fear if it they fight within the next 12 months, it may ruin Alvarez's career.
GGG has to be the most devastating fighter since a prime Mike Tyson. I actually don't fault anyone for not wanting to fight him.
Cotto is probably very wise to avoid him.
Either way, one of them (Cotto, GGG, Canelo) is getting left out ASSUMING Cotto & GGG wins their next fights. Cotto losing could make that GGG-Canelo fight happen since neither will duck anyone and it would be GGG's 1st really big purse. It would be interesting to see how Canelo would deal with his power considering he would leave himself open to shots and like we've seen, he'll start out boxing but when his instincts kick in he will square up and throw which should be a no-no against GGG.

Anyway, an exciting next couple of months for boxing fans.

Ya, it was a great fight. Everybody should check out Canelo vs Kirkland when they get a chance

That was a brutal beating. I think Kirkland was still on queer street when he was interviewed after the fight. He said the ref stopped the bout. The arena was half empty by the time he got up.

Love Kirkland fights, he really is a warrior. He ate a lot of hard punches. All the best to him, not sure why he is the with Anne Wolfe anymore.
50 Cent (Kirkland's co-promoter) is practically insisting on it. Don't know if it would make a difference. Funny, Canelo looked like the destructive puncher in this fight.

I don't know. I still don't think super welterweights Cotto* & Canelo are in any hurry to tangle with GGG. I'm not sure the money is enough for the risk. Geale in June is no guarantee for Cotto.

            * yeah, I know he has a middleweight belt.

I don't think Canelo fears anyone tbh. He's been in almost every type of professional fight for a relatively young fighter.

It's almost a catch-22. GGG needs a fight with those guys just as much to earn a bigger name which will get him more pull with future negotiations. He's a well known amongst us but he's nowhere near the household name his fighting style/prowess deserves.

Geale is quality but fighting a Puerto Rican fighter in Barclays will be tough, not even counting how Cotto has looked his last 2 fights.

              Good matchups though all-the-way around.

I don't know what's in the guys head, but a Canelo-Cotto fight makes more sense. Cotto is the #3 PPV guy plus you'd have another installment of the famed Mexico–Puerto Rico boxing rivalry. Only my own estimation but each fighter should both pull in over $10 million each.

Give me GGG/Canelo first. Both guys would be throwing bombs until one goes down. We really haven't seen GGG take a big punch, and he's already relatively old compared to other future stars.

Yeah, I'd also like to see GGG/Canelo over any other matchup between the three. I just don't think it's nearly as likely to happen as Canelo/Cotto. Both bring a big fan base, and Cotto has the PPV pull.

No way Canelo or Cotto would choose GGG as an opponent over the other if all things (money) are equal.

I'd prefer GGG vs canelo as well, but mainly because cotto isn't really a true middleweight, he's not THAT big honestly.

I always liked to see the little guy step up and take that chance. I loved it when the great Bob Foster moved up to take on Muhammad and Joe, or when welterweight king Jose Napoles challenged Monzon for the middleweight crown. It use to be a much bigger event.

                        By the way, I think......

I'm with you there - I made this comment to a buddy while watching the fight, but I was thinking that Kirkland probably made more fans getting KO'd than Mayweather did by winning the "superfight". I mean, if there are 2 fights on at the same time and both are free (ha), one has Mayweather vs whoever and the other is Kirkland vs whoever, I know which one I'd bet on being the more entertaining bout...

Yeah, but I think everyone that watches boxing already knew that, no? I mean, that was the main topic of conversation leading up to the fight around here. Even if you didn't suspect that he hasn't been 2nd or 3rd best in a long time (at least since '09), the Marquez fight ought to have been reason for re-evaluation...

I don't know if the majority of regular boxing fans knew it (certainly plenty that picked Pac), I'm just reporting what Thurman said. I think Pac would have considerable trouble against Porter, Thurman or Brook, but who knows?

No, you're right - I think most casual followers of the sport assumed it was a #1 vs #2 situation, but I think most people that follow the sport more closely already knew Manny was way past his prime.
