I like that they brought in big names like Michaels and company, but they will really have to upgrade Marv Albert and Sugar Ray...I know Marv is like an institution at this point, but his calling of the action was pretty poor IMO. Either that or he just had no chemistry with Sugar Ray whatsoever. But those two together are not a good team. They honestly should just let Steve Farhood take the analyst seat and if they want to keep Leonard, have him be the 3rd guy. Just let Steve Smoger take over the scoring duties, since he was minimal value-added IMO.

Although, it's just the first broadcast, so maybe that's being too critical. Have to give them a chance after all.
I agree with you for the most part, but I was just pleasantly surprised with the production values and that they really "went for it"

I have to admit, I'd like to see it happen. For me, Broner makes for some interesting matchups, but he's just a KO away from traveling down the road to irrelevancy. I think there are so many guys that can best him, especially if he's trying welterweight out for size. Khan and him at a 143 CW would be ideal.

At least Saturday Night they weren't. Ray seemed pretty sparse with anything professionally analytical. I hope he gets better.

Crawford isn't an option because he is a top rank fighter.

          Cool to see.
I thought Marv Albert was terrible. He came off very uninformed and kind of disengaged.

          I liked the slo-mos though.

Just speculating. In a year who knows? (or maybe 2, or 3...?)

Yeah, i'll agree. The commentary was pretty bad, leonard even though he's a great boxer, was doing a terrible job explaining what was going on. Albert sounded confused sometimes and just wasn't really giving a great blow by blow commentary. They would of been better off letting teddy atlas do it.

Also, i think broner has the talent to give a lot of people a good fight, IF he sharpens up his defense and lets his hands go more, and if he adjust to the welterweight class, he moved up pretty quickly, probably too quickly. I like that he added the jab to the body.

I think he is what he is. He'll never be a voluminous puncher, and I suspect that he lacks the discipline to get that much better on defense. All that being said, he beat a tough guy pretty easily so I have to give him some respect.

I'm a bit late to the thread, but the Marv Albert/Sugar Ray combination sucked. I doubt they'll do anything to replace them, but I'd love to see it. At least the production was on point. Although, I'd really like to see the fighters come out to their own music over those generic themes they had playing.

I haven't really followed Peterson, but I'm looking forward to seeing Danny Garcia again. I'm impressed with some of the names that we're seeing on NBC.

The competition for Shawn Porter just got easier with Roberto Garcia just dropping out. The Premier Boxing Champions site still has Garcia as the opponent, not his replacement Erick Bone(61-1, 8 KOs).

That fight and Berto VS Lopez tonight on Spike TV.

EDIT: Didn't see it, other than the YouTube highlight of the KO.

Really like Tarver on the telecast. NBC should look yo using him.

Enjoyed the heavyweight fight for what it was.

Happy for Berto to make such a statement. Thought the stoppage was quick, but it was coming regardless.

^Yeah, the stoppage was kinda early, especially considering the type of fighter lopez is.

Anybody see pascal vs kovalev though? That was a great fight, kovalev almost stopped pascal early, then pascal rallied and started landing some bombs on kovalev and i think he hurt him, also landed some good body shots. Kovalev flurried and got a stoppage(that i thought was waay too early for this fight). I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch, if kovalev can't get adonis stevenson.

Boxing is already looking great for this year.

the Glazkov - Cunningham was a close fight beginning to end. the commentating crew must not have been paying attention. i scored it 114-114, a draw. however, i noted 6 rounds as coin flip rounds that could have gone 10-9 either way. meanwhile, the announcers were acting like Cunningham was cruising to an easy victory....sometimes i wonder what they're watching

I know that a lot has happened since their first fight, but I am ready to see Berto/Ortiz II. Hopefully this Heymon thing can make that a reality. Even more so that Lopez broke Ortiz' jaw for a TKO and Berto got a TKO vs Lopez.
