Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Some smack talk from Terence Crawford's trainer/manager regarding a potential 140 showdown with Mikey Garcia:
“We welcome Mikey’s challenge, if he comes up to 140 pounds,” said Crawford’s trainer/co-manager Brian McIntyre. “We will do him like we did him in the amateurs.”
Crawford apparently outpointed Garcia by a wide margin.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Brandon Cook’s victory over Quebec rival Steven Butler on Saturday night at the Bell Centre was not exactly a bucket of fun.
re the upset comment - because of the odds? Most people from Ontario had a feeling Brandon would win. He's a very old-school fighter that really works the body hard early with hooks and uppercuts. He prefers fighting taller opponents and has been in tough (and in trouble). Many Montreal fighters have inflated ego's and haven't been in tough and build up great records. A perfect example is david lemieux. Remember the huge upset when he got stopped by an elder Rubio?
Everyone from ontario that went to the fight made lots of money - if I could have gone and saw those odds I would have dropped $200, nothing I would miss, and walked away with just shy of 2k. You can't beat that lol. The odds were just way off. Other intersting things were just the day before the curveball that cook had to fight in 8oz gloves, when, everywhere else anything above welter is 10oz, so there was a big disagreement and it was solved by actually flipping a coin!Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
EDIT: I might have spoken too soon. I can't pull up the BoxingScene website (down) but the headline off of the Google search quotes Garcia, "If Presented With Lomachenko At 135, I'll Take It."
2ND EDIT:
Garcia-Lomachenko??Last edited by JayBee74; 01-31-2017, 03:56 PM.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Agree, but it would still be a tough fight for Garcia. The indication is he will be moving up to 140 by the end of this year or early 2018. That would reduce the chances for a super fight between him and Lomachenko.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Even though they're now both super featherweights Salido has no interest in giving Lomachenko a revenge opportunity. This from Salido three weeks ago:
"Hey, why do I want to fight a guy in Lomachenko who I know is going to run, grab and hold when I can go Mexican-to-Mexican with Francisco Vargas and give the people what they really want see."Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Too bad. I wanted to see that fight. Something is always going on with Kirkland.
Cotto-Kirkland Off
Apparently Teddy Atlas is not impressed ENOUGH with GGG-Go figure.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Funny you should say that- BoxRec shows him scheduled for an April 8th fight against no one!

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Lomachenko has been making in the $850 K-$1 million range. There's nothing specific, but Salido was offered less then $500K for a rematch. Despite losing a split decision Lomachenko has some leverage because Salido came in overweight for their bout.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Definitely and that crossroads fight has just been added to the Garcia-Thurman under-card.
That might not make the CBS telecast because also newly added Erickson Lubin VS Jorge Cota is locked in on TV with the main event.
