IMO I think it's about right partly because of Jacob's shaky jaw.

That definitely is a concern. I guess I am giving him more credit for being a little better defensively for some of the guys that ggg has fought so far.

Jacobs definitely has a puncher's chance, but that's his only chance...could happen but not likely. I think 5-1 odds is about right

No. Jacobs is an overprotected Haymon fighter who has beaten no one of note other than the overhyped, overprotected Peter Quillin. Don't even go there with suggesting Sergio Mora is a quality opponent.

I like Danny. Great story with overcoming cancer. Seems like a good guy.

But 5-1, 6-1 seem about the right odds. He's never faced anyone with close to Golovkin's power and attacking footwork. Few fighters cut off the ring better than Golovkin. Once he hurts Jacobs, GGG will finish him.

            Ward considering retirement:

Most likely marketing ploy to drum up more interest, and to get more money from a rematch.
But I also think he knows, deep down, that he got a gift win after being roughed-up worse than in any fight he's ever been in, and he's not sure he wants to go through that again.
IMO, Kovalev will step up the pressure earlier and put him away in a 2nd fight.
We could see something similar to Tarver-Jones II. I doubt it's an early KO, but I wouldn't be shocked if Krusher stops him.

I have an old SI article regarding this fight and prior to the bout, Tyson mentions that Frazier had a habit of folding over when avoiding jabs.
You can see Tyson flicking it out, rather harmlessly, to gauge Frazier and get his timing down.
This KO was absolutely brutal and vintage Tyson.

              What could have been.

Speaking of Tyson, SI has a recent article where he talks about his life at 50 and has him reflect on the old Tyson.
              Some interesting tidbits in there.
Tyson doesn't seem to like Iron Mike. In fact, he says he doesn't acknowledge anyone when they call him Champ or Iron Mike.

I hope Ward doesn't let the door hit his butt. He is neck and neck with Rigondeaux and Mayweather as the most boring, non-pleasing elite fighters in the sport.

Somehow Ward thinks he's popular. He might be the most reviled fighter among boxing fans. A diva who rarely fights and is boring.

So long, Andre. You've been largely dormant -- and irrelevant -- since your outstanding victory in the Super 6.

I'm not going to lose any sleep over Ward leaving the sport. I don't think his heart is in it, and I'm not sure if there's a lot more money that he could make.

Speaking of Floyd he had a few comments he made today to ESPN's Brian Campbell:

                  (1) He challenged Campbell's inexplicably awarding of the mythical Pound For Pound title to Andre Ward, by simply saying, "He didn't win..." [against Kovalez].

                  (2) In a totally self serving comment, he says Canelo will beat GGG.

                  (3) Basically states that Virgil Hunter is not a good trainer, and Ward cannot beat Kovalez with him.

It's official. Cinco de Mayo: Canelo-Jr. Chavez.

In what might be the biggest all-Mexican fight in boxing history, Canelo Alvarez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. will square off in a long-anticipated match on Cinco de Mayo weekend.

Catch weight of 164.5. The Vegas books on whether Chavez will make it or not opened at 10-1.

ward "won" just like floyd "won" against manny....lol. we all know pound for pound should go to ggg. wonder what his opinion is on that. of course he wants canelo to beat ggg and remove ggg's elite status and unblemished record. ward's inactivity really hurt him. if anything, he should be motivated for a rematch and try for a better ppv promotion next time around.

the books are probably gonna do better on him making weight rather than winning the fight...lol.
