Come to think of it, 8-ounce gloves just might be approved because Mayweather all but owns the Nevada commission.

The Nevada commission never would have sanctioned a fight between a 49-0 legend and a boxer making his debut if that 49-0 fighter had a name other than Mayweather. Money is damn good business for the commission.

(which is true, imo), however, floyd doesn't knock people out. for him to try to do that would mean he would risk getting knocked out himself, which i just don't see happening. he's all about the W, not knockouts. not only that, with his brittle hands, smaller gloves could backfire. also, him trying to slug with conor would play right into conor's strategy, which would NOT be a smart move on floyd's part.
Agreed. Smaller gloves pose a far greater risk to Mayweather due to his brittle hands.

Somebody bet $880,000 on Mayweather at the South Point Casino in Vegas. If Floyd wins that guy profits $160,000.

I cant see it unless Conor wins or knocks Floyd down a few times and I dont think thats likely.

Dana posted a few clips from the Paulie/Conor sparring matches. My take:

Conor has more power than non MMA fans give him credit for.

Paulie is shot and shouldnt be boxing or sparring anymore.

Beating up Paulie doesnt help Conor at all when it comes to preparing for Floyd. Paulie doesnt have half of Floyd's defense and even at 40 Floyd is much quicker than Paulie right now.

Granted it was a very brief clip, but yeah Paulie did not look good at all.

Question though, I've never seen any of Paulie's fights. Did he use the shell defense?

He was in the shell during that clip and Conor's left came in and landed square on Paulie's face. Paulie was the one that looked like an amateur there.

Not much head movement, light on his feet, and not a great defense. Haven't seen all his fights but haven't noticed anything resembling a shell defense. Khan hit him at will.

The 14-second video released of Conor-Paulie (not the "knockdown") showed Malignaggi getting the short end of the stick, but it was only 14 seconds. Having said that he got very roughed up during those 14 seconds.

Of course, if you're showing clips instead of the whole session that says something too. But.........

Paulie left camp over the leaked "knockdown" photo? Didn't seem like he was too motivated to get back in the ring to make a statement.

there has to be quite a few bets out there....conor going the distance, floyd knocking conor out, knockdowns, etc. vegas must be having a field day.

after conor roughed up paulie (with headgear), floyd wants 8 oz. gloves?

He doesn't want 8 oz. gloves this is just some bs to keep the fight in the news. I think they had their promo tour at bit too early. Mayweather would not have taken this fight if he thought he had any chance of losing. It's gonna be the same thing as all his other fights the last 10 years. Stick and move.

I think it would be dumb to show the whole session from a strategy and fight promotion perspective.

Particularly if Conor didn't look all that good for the entire session.

Yes from a fight promotion angle. The strategy angle is equally important though. Ive watched every Mayweather 24/7 and All Access during his career and I dont think I've seen him spar on it more than once because he doesnt want to potentially show anything that the other side could use.. It would be dumb for Conor to show the whole video just to win an ego war against Paulie.
