Hey, there is a REAL fight Aug. 26 on HBO: Cotto vs. Kamegai. That's what I'm watching.

And the Canelo-GGG bout Sept. 16 is one of the best fights that can be made in boxing. I'm drooling for both of those contests, not the Mayweather-McGregor freak show.

I told you PK. You have the two biggest draws in combat sports. The commission was going to roll. ****, Conor got fined a year back and they reduced the fine because he threatened to never fight in Vegas again.

Are there any real boxing or MMA fans that actually think Conor is gonna win? Ive heard people argue how Conor could win or that he has a chance but I havent read any one credible saying he would win.

My point being when Conor loses, he doesnt really need an excuse. He's not a boxer. Thats enough of an reason for the loss alone.

That is a no true Scotsman fallacy you set up there, but I still agree with you.

I got a few friends who are the type of MMA fan that I call a MMA groupie, and yeah they actually think Conor is going to win.

But those are the only types who are saying that. MMA groupies are...weird.

this is NOT a smart move by floyd, imo....he already has brittle hands, conor is used to 4 oz. gloves-so no big deal for him, might give conor an edge in power (IF he connects at all) since he will be close to 170 fight night. this could come back to haunt floyd. IS he planning on going for the knockout after all? wish him luck. another reason why this should be an exhibition bout but IF the unthinkable happens and floyd IS knocked out, it will be because of his own recklessness and overconfidence. not only that, it will be the biggest upset in sports history AND floyd loses his spotless record to someone's first professional boxing match.

read a story right after i posted this saying paulie is eyeing a bout with conor on st. patrick's day to settle the score. looks like we got the reason he left now. of course, he said conor has to look decent against floyd to garner any interest in the fight at all.

Conor could draw better in a UFC fight than fighting a shot fighter like Paulie. That fight will never happen.

The difference is MacGregor could promote that fight with Paulie and make far more money than he would ever get fighting in the UFC. I agree that this fight probably will never happen because I think Floyd destroys him and no one wants to see him box again.

Nope. One, the UFC would still get its cut. They still hold all combat sports rights on Conor. So that cuts into what he could make. Two, Paulie has never headlined a PPV before and has never been considered a draw outside of hardcore boxing fans and New Yorkers. Casual fans dont know who the hell Paulie is.

Three, a UFC trilogy fight with Diaz, a WW fight against GSP or even a LW title fight would likely outdraw a Paulie boxing fight. People keep underestimating how much of a draw Conor is. Other than Floyd, there is no one in Combat Sports who is selling the number of PPVs that he is. Canelo is the only person who comes close and Conor still out sells him by a half a mil.

If you're a betting man you can wager 1K to make $200 betting on Floyd. Looks like a lead pipe lock to me.

Not sure what you mean by real fans.

MMA fans (casual or not) are not taking the fight as a joke. If so, T-Mobile Arena would be empty and the sportsbooks would be dry.

I think I read that McGregor is getting higher odds than Victor Ortiz, Maidana and a few others had fighting against Floyd.

And yes, the excuses are being readied. Conor and Dana's ego won't allow them to publicly say that Conor got outclassed (if he indeed do so).

Again, August 27th can't come fast enough for me.

I'm talking about people who regularly watch boxing or MMA. Not people who have watched a Conor fight every once in a while.

The fact that T-Mobile is sold out has nothing to do with people taking the fight as real or competitive. They are going to for the spectacle. ****, if it wasnt for the extremely high ticket prices, I wouldve gone to the fight.

I went to Canelo/Chavez for the same reason. I didnt think it would be a competetive fight and it wasnt. I went because it was a great spectacle with two of the biggest Mexican fighters fighting each other.

Conor and Dana are trying to sell a fight. What do you expect them to do? Dana: "Conor is first time professional boxer and he's fighting an all time great. He has no chance" LOL. They are trying to get people to watch the fight.

The reason why Conor's odds are higher is because 1) Floyd is 40. 2) Conor has a huge following and 3)The odds are still decent if you want to put money on Conor. Most people didnt know who Ortiz was when he fought Floyd. Same with Maidana.

Yep, you were right. I was naive to think the Nevada commission would enforce its rules for Floyd, the de facto head of the commission.

the smaller gloves favor conor too.....depending on if and when he connects. i can't see floyd trying to take conor out but if he runs, won't matter if it's 8 oz., 10 oz., or whatever, it will be business as usual for floyd. if conor goes 12, you can consider it a win of some sorts for him.
