I would say that was the widest opening I've ever seen for a body shot to come through but Crawford's reflexes are a little above average. This was a total mismatch. The countering champ saw that continually cocked and telegraphed left cross coming from a mile away.

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I'm in my circle of honesty today, I'm more of a casual boxing fan and I'm wondering, is it time to jump on the Crawford bandwagon?
Kidding aside, could Crawford be the next superstar for boxing?
I'm talking about people who regularly watch boxing or MMA. Not people who have watched a Conor fight every once in a while.
The fact that T-Mobile is sold out has nothing to do with people taking the fight as real or competitive. They are going to for the spectacle. ****, if it wasnt for the extremely high ticket prices, I wouldve gone to the fight.
I went to Canelo/Chavez for the same reason. I didnt think it would be a competetive fight and it wasnt. I went because it was a great spectacle with two of the biggest Mexican fighters fighting each other.
Conor and Dana are trying to sell a fight. What do you expect them to do? Dana: "Conor is first time professional boxer and he's fighting an all time great. He has no chance" LOL. They are trying to get people to watch the fight.
The reason why Conor's odds are higher is because 1) Floyd is 40. 2) Conor has a huge following and 3)The odds are still decent if you want to put money on Conor. Most people didnt know who Ortiz was when he fought Floyd. Same with Maidana.
No true fight fan would give Conor a chance if what you are saying.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I think the odds are really decent if you want to put money on Floyd (Mayweather -400, McGregor +300). If you bet Conor at 3-1 you're getting little betting value. I remember when Holyfield opened at 25-1 against Tyson in a massively hyped fight (part of Iron Mike's comeback from prison) and then finally settled in as a 7-1 underdog. Odds are way, way, way too short on the MMA fighter.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
The hype machine. Floyd's fights are all the same at least over the last while. No reason to think this will be any different especially in with a guy who is totally out of his element and in the boxing ring has no clue what the hell he has gotten himself into. He has no chance to win and anyone putting money on him to win might as well be burning their money.
There is no question Conor can make more money in the boxing ring so he will do himself a big favor by trying to keep this close enough so there would be interest in another boxing match with someone who could generate a decent payday for him. He's got a family there is no sense putting himself in harm's way fighting much more in the octagon.Comment

How much can he make in MMA after White takes his pound? I have to disagree with your premise.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
I didn't know Mcgregor and Diaz made that much money for their rematch (part of UFC 202). I just looked it up:
Conor McGregor Total UFC 202 Estimated Pay
Fight purse: $3 million.
Reebok Sponsorship money: $250.000.
PPV Share: $11.5 million.
Fight of the night bonus: $50.000.
Show money for his Vegas afterparty: $250.000 estimated.
Nate Diaz Total UFC 202 Estimated Pay
Fight purse: $2 million.
Reebok Sponsorship money: $250.000.
PPV Share: $10.5 million.
Fight of the night bonus: $50.000.
Show money for his Vegas afterparty: $150.000 estimated.Comment

Plus the UFC gets 20% of his boxing payday anyway.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
In both boxing and MMA, the purse in Floyd's fights is an outlier.
Yeah Conor's biggest payday will be a fight with Floyd, hell everyone's is. That doesn't mean boxing>MMA in money though.Comment

FS1 replayed the Diaz fights with Conor. Man he has absolutely no chance against a boxer like Floyd.Comment
