Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Great news: Danny Jacobs flees PBC to sign with Matchroom and return to HBO.
HBO now has the three best middleweights in the world: GGG, Canelo and Jacobs. Plus it's cool that Matchroom, which does great promotional work in the UK, has a foothold in the U.S. with a very good, charismatic fighter.
And the best news of this announcement: The collapse of the PBC house of cards has started. Expect more fighters to defect from PBC and its shrinking hodgepodge of televised bouts on BS networks.
The PBC had nothing lined up for Jacobs for six months after his superb showing against Golovkin. Typical. Haymon pays guys not to fight, and their careers are swirling down the drain.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

I wonder who Jacob's new guys could set up for him now? I think he was waiting for a GGG-Canelo verdict and that didn't work out too well for him. Matchroom just put Lemieux out there but the risk-reward isn't there. The bottom line is he needs a fight soon as a bridge to a GGG or Canelo bout.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Canelo-GGG had 1.3 million buys. Although well below Oscar's rather optimistic prediction that's still around the Top 15 all time. The live gate ($27 million) on over 17,000 ticket sales was the third most in boxing history so no one is going away hungry.Comment

I don't care too much about the PBC but if they are in collapse mode I'll be watching Charlo-Lubin and Hurd-Trout on October 14th and Wilder-Ortiz on November 4th. For the record, I don't think Wilder will win.

It's an easy fight for Matchroom to make, as it's a UK-based promoter. Saunders needs to try to beat a real fighter, and Jacobs would earn a belt by beating Saunders.
That fight would sell out a 20,000-seat arena with ease in the UK, arguably the hottest boxing market in the world.
Then Jacobs could fight next fall against the winner or loser of the Canelo-GGG rematch, with possibly a tune-up fight before that bout.
Matchroom also promotes super middleweights Callum Smith and James DeGale. Not sure if they can make 160 or Jacobs wants to jump to 168, but I'm sure a fight between Jacobs and either of those UK fighters could be made at a catchweight (ugh, I know) of 164 if the money and HBO exposure were right.
Eddie Hearn is a damn good promoter. I'd trust him to guide my career in the right direction far more than Al Haymon.Last edited by pk500; 09-27-2017, 08:09 PM.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Khan's jaw can't handle punches from 147-pounders. His head might explode if he gets hit by a 160-pounder.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Ha...although to be fair, that fight was most probably (functionally) a light-heavyweight against a welterweight by fight-night.Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Jacobs is a true middleweight with power and boxing skill at or near his peak. He troubled GGG greatly.
Cotto is a blown-up welterweight with a lot of miles, approaching the end of his career. He will wilt late against a true 160-pounder.
Danny Jacobs is a really good fighter. No. 3 in the world at 160 for a reason. Sadly, cancer robbed him of two good years of his career. So did fighting bums in the PBC stable. But his performance against Golovkin was not an outlier. The dude can fight.Last edited by pk500; 09-29-2017, 09:42 AM.Xbox Live: pk4425Comment

Re: Boxing Off-Topic
Then cotto would definitely be out of the picture. He will probably after his next fight. Fight the winner of Ggg and canelo.
