EA doesn't want to create boxing games because they believe it will cut into the sales of their UFC game.

I don't know about, and who says EA has to make it? Frankly I'd rather have another developer take a crack at it.

Why is this petition even directed to RockstarGames? I mean, R*, they only do GTA and RedDeadRedemption and such stuff. Not a single Sports-Title (okay, a table-tennis game from 2006 lol).

i don't know why the smaller companies don't take the chance with a boxing-game, one with no licenses at all.

since floyd is retired now, maybe he'll team up with some company to release a new boxing game. TMT boxing or something like that. sort of like what jordan did when he came out in a game after retirement in 2k11.

hmm, i'm not sure who actually needs to pay who to be on the cover of a game and have a game partially dedicated to a specific player...incase there is any payment involved. MJ's 2k11 presence benefitted 2k in first place.

A Floyd Mayweather is pretty unknown in Europe, afaik. Nothing compared to a Tyson or Klitchko. Even GGG is not a big name. The Heavyweight Division is interesting (for the casuals). You can go outside and ask 10 random people who Floyd Mayweather or TripleG is and then the same question with Tyson or Klitchko....

You think? Mayweather-Hatton (2007) broke the UK pay per view box office record with 1.4 million buys besting the heavyweight battle between Lewis and Tyson (750K) and Floyd's fight with Pac did over $35 million in international sales. Floyd Mayweather and boxing are probably synonymous worldwide.

i do believe, yes. UK is the No.1 Boxing-Country, but actually i talked about Europe, you know EUROPE, the European Union without UK anymore In Germany, if i go to a pub or go to a school and ask about a mayweather, they will probably say "Mayweather...ah, yes, GTA5"

In germany, he definately is not well known or popular and so probably other countries...regardless how much $ he made with PPV in UK and the US.

well, if mayweather wants someone to produce a boxing-game for him and the rest of the world...well, good. he may even raise his popularity, maybe also in germany

The initial point was, he is not THIS famous and wellknown like a MJ, where people buy a videogame, just because of him being on the cover or being the man with the $ behind this game, because he simply doesn't have this big name like f.e. a Mike Tyson....a Michael Jordan....a Michael Schumacher....a Tiger Woods ....a Lionel Messi.

I think a game has to stand on it's own no matter who endorses it. For me I could care less about the boxer on the cover-I could even get by with fictional fighters. but still unsure how a cover should push sales in todays gaming-industry, with bunch of sites offering reviews, let's plays etc. It's more the icing on the cake, but if the cake sucks....well

Even the latest EA FIFA17, EA's best-selling title didn't had Lionel Messi anymore on the Cover.

I signed the petition. It's col to have big names in there but if the gameplay is great I'd buy it regardless. Just have a deep career mode or even incorporate some of the story mode elements that was in the last one.

I don't need any licensed boxers whatsoever. I just signed the petition but I'm not holding my breath. Sony needs to release Victorious Boxers on the PSN, that will hold me over.
