Plenty of people play the way he does. Also slow down with the personal attacks before you get banned.

So frustrated. If there isn't a day 1 patch to address the lack of MMAi then I honestly see zero reason for me picking this up.

      Couldn't care less about online.

Yeah I can see winning TUF to get into the UFC being patched. That will turn a hell of a lot casuals off if takes too many attempts to get passed TUF. Especially those who didn't pre-order and simply just want to unlock Bruce Lee and Royce Gracie.

That's why I assumed you could just create a PSN for each division. For example:

          jeremym480-hw
          jeremym480-lhw
          jeremym480-mw
          etc.

With 10 CAF's per PSN. If you can't that sucks. All this changing out flash drives and turning the game on and off sounds annoying as hell.
Looks like this worked. Ill just use this second profile while i wait for EA to unblock my original one.

Another thing I liked is the stamina on realistic time setting. It looks how you would expect stamina to be, but the problem is punch output numbers so high that fights will never see a decision or to a 5th round.

If they could give us a patch that adjusts the CPU AI to slow down when you change the time setting it would be perfect.

Accelerated clock ON = Leave AI strike numbers as is (maybe lower a tad)
Real time ON = AI strike numbers drop drastically to mimic real round strike totals.

Then most of us would be satisfied!
Yes, I agree. If this was tweaked (slight lower output with accel, much lower with normal) I would be very, very happy

I am kinda confused though. A lot of people get Madden early every year, do their accounts get banned?

Re: EA UFC Retail Impressions Thread

I'm hoping this day one patch will tone things down. It's strange because a lot of things seem like they are really good and there are also a lot of things which are either lies or not living up to the hype.

The best single setting in UFC3 was Arcade or Simulation. In sim mode UFC3 was so so good against a human opponent and I just wish they could have done that.

As fans we just want options. We don't care if 90% of people want to button bash and knock everyone out with showtime kicks but at least let people who want to fight realistically flick a switch and open the door to their side of the game.

I want to win boring 5-rounders via the jab for instance. I also want 3-round slugfest where both guys are visibly dead on their feet.

Aholbert, thanks for being so honest about what you see. My money just got taken for my pre order today and I was questioning that decision after the first few pages of this thread, but listing those positives has made me feel better!

This development team disappointed us with Fight Night Champion after Round 4 had been so good. I hope EA UFC is better than EA MMA otherwise that will be embarrassing because that was a decent game indeed.

I streamed it. That was the issue. All and all its not a big deal. I just created a new PSN account and I'm up and running. I could even go back to streaming if I wanted too but **** that. People saw more than 20 fights yesterday and I'm not giving EA any more promotion for their game.

Take a look at next gen larry bird on the one and only 86 team he is on (on pc he is available from the 1979-1992 seasons and on the 92 dream team on pc only though) and the poor excuse for hair they gave him.

point is give the fans the tools and they make something better every time because they are passionate about it. why are you reading impressions about the game if you are just going to be a yes man and buy it anyway. leave this thread for those with issues not those that just accept whatever comes to them from the developers that they should be in awe of like you are. Im glad I dont have your way of thinking of thinking because you seem like a generic person that listens to the top 8 at 8 instead of making your own mix cd. Why bother you cant do a better job than the radio djs because they are professionals even though you only need to cater to yourself. Why bother when someone else can do it for you.
There is nothing wrong being passionate about a game and I get it that the PC version have mods where you can create realistic characters...but this ain't PC. So you will never create the level of realism that the developers can with the game. Why am I reading impression about the game? Because I am passionate about how the game turn out...how realistic the fighters fight, how smooth is the frame rate, how's the online mode, what are the differences between the demo and the retail version, ect.. I am the kind that accept the game as it is....as it is being created and not having to deal with creation. I want to enjoy the same fighter that everyone is enjoying whether there is flaw or not (characters that were intended by the developers). But the character that you guy create are only enjoy by YOU and no one else (can't upload), i don't see any fun in that lol. I can create the characters that look great but when play it alone, i don't see it as fun when nobody in the world know you have created a cool character lol. And i don't pretend that these characters are in any way a representation of the real life characters. I guess my perspective is different when it comes to fun. You see, i see fun when everyone is having the same contents and share the same experience. As I said, if you want to create or be part of the creation, why not work as a developers instead of a gamer. So the fact that you make a big deal about creating game characters than playing the game tells me you're not a gamer and probably don't like competitive game such as online.

The point is that it would be nice to win because you fight like MMA and best the guy that fights like he's playing Yier Kung Fu.

+ Presentation: The walkouts are great. Much better than UFC3s and very accurate. The commentary is about the same level as UFC 3 but the chants are much better. Loved fighting in Rio with a Brazilian fighter and hearing them chant for him. Crowd sounds better than the demo.

                        - Walkout music: All that talk about "most fighters have their real walkout song" is BS. 5 fighters (out of 99) have their walkout music. Belfort, Pettis, A. Silva, B. Henderson and one other fighter I cant remember.

                        - Walkout Gear: I have no idea why sooooo many fighters either come out in blank T-shirts or have shorts with no sponsors. I'm sure EA's excuse will be "We didnt have their real sponsor so we couldnt put another one in their place".

Thats BS for 2 reasons: 1) THQ put other sponsors on fighters all the time in their 3 games and 2) it doesnt excuse why fighters like Rousey who are only sponsored by the UFC come out with a plain black walkout shirt.

+ Striking: This is the most fun I've ever had striking in a UFC game. I really feel like the jab is actually effective in this game. Not as effective as it should be (I cant use it solely to keep an agressive fighter off of me) but still good.

I really dont see the AI using crazy strikes that often. I played 20 plus fights yesterday and the craziest punch I saw thrown by the AI was a superman punch.

+ Grappling: I actually prefer this Grappling system to any other I've played. You have to actively defend. You cant just hold a button and transition block. You have to see what side a fighter is using to escape and actively block that escape. Same goes for the submissions. I fought Rousey twice and she locked in armbar 3 times. I escaped once and each time it felt like I was working hard to escape.

                        - Reversals: Way too many. Part of it is I'm ****ty at reading which side the reversal is going to so I can block it. There are still too many imo. As I get better at grappling hopefully this will go down.

                        - MMAi and the AI: Ok so MMAi is in the game....its just not what we thought it was:

Lets take Maia for example. When I fought him, his game plan initially was to take me down and I stopped 3 takedowns in the first round. So he adjusted and decided to strike with me. The problem was I was Robbie Lawler and there is no way Maia would choose to kickbox with Lawler. In real life, he would just try to clinch or attempt more takedowns.

MMAi is not fighters fighting like their real life counterparts. Machida doesnt hang back and counter strike. He only does that if you are being extra aggressive. Rousey clinches a ton but doesnt attempt many throws and tries to get you to the ground with takedowns.

                        - Aggressiveness - If the demo is aggressiveness at a 10...the retail game is aggressiveness at a 7-8. Its hit or miss. Guys like Machida/Saffedine/Swanson were very aggressive from the first round. But when I fought Ian McCall and Rousey it seemed way more realistic. Especially McCall who used his movement and was truly counter striking.

There is a rumored Day 1 patch (I downloaded a patch when I first installed the game but that may not be it) so hopefully this is tuned but i needs to be tuned really soon.

GAMEPLAYDEVUFC, All we are asking for is variety and some intelligence from the AI. I know a ton of causal fans love to just strike and do rock and sock em robots all day...give them online and the lower difficulties. The hard core fans just want the normal and higher difficulties. I want Machida to fight smart and sit back. I know some may call it boring but let me tell you...you will have an army of loyal customers if you make the AI more like their real life counterparts.

+Fighting stances and taunts - They stole this from FNC but I love it. They have a ton of different stances in this game and if you dont move the fighters will dance in place and sometimes taunt. The stances were right on.

                        - Lack of sliders - So if you dont want to make the game realistic at launch, you have to allow us to use sliders or make fighter edits so that we can do it ourselves

+ HUD removal - Adds a new/fun aspect to the game. If you turn off the hud, you are force to use visual cues to know if you or your opponent are gassing out. You also will be more conservative when fighting because you are never 100% sure how much stamina you have. I'm playing without the HUD from here out.

                        - CAF - YOU ALREADY NOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS!!!!

+ Career Mode - Interesting but I can only see going through this once. I like the video aspects of it. Dont love the fact that you have to win TUF to get into the UFC because thats unrealistic. EA couldve easily made a minor league where you get a couple of fights and then get into the UFC.

Thats all for now. I may have more later.
This game is a roller-coaster ride!

I think overall you convinced me to purchase with this post. I was originally 80% not buying after the first 6 or 7 matches I played in the demo. Then the next day I got to 50/50 since it just played way differently.

Then I went up to 60% buying, back down to 50/50 with your initial impressions and some videos.

I'm almost 100% offline though, since random people are far too annoying to play against, I'll take a couple guys through career and do a bunch of UFC vs UFC matches. IT's strange there is no event mode or taking UFC guy through career.

It seems like the only longevity for this game is create a fighter career and online. Even though it's a little superficial, constant exhibition fights takes away from the immersion imo.

surprised Wandy doesn't have his song lol

Oh and I forgot controls, I really hope they patch them or fix it in future releases to be more intuitive.
One of many example is on the ground they change left arm to right arm for the inputs, presumably because of the camera, but they shouldn't do that. Right arm should be right arm regardless or camera since it's easier mind-set to know that rather than adjust your mind to the camera angle but only for certain situations. Also a big one is head/body/leg attacks and stick direction is kind of a mess for kicks.

Yes, let me quit my job, go after a new job in a very competitive field (where I will probably make less money), and move my wife across the country all because I want to create a fighter in a UFC game. I don't know why I didn't think of that before.
