Re: The Concise and Definitive List of Requests for UFC 3

Two big things for me are:

At least one more takedown animation for both doubles and singles. A blast double would be great, but I know it's likely to late to add that to the game. I just don't think dumping someone on the canvas looks great, especially when you're using someone like GSP who drives people into the canvas.

And realistic animations for certain fighters. I actually think the beta showed this was pretty good this time around, aside for the overhand animation that everyone had. I know that the dev said they've added a bunch of new ones though, which is awesome, and I hope they can do that for a lot certain fighters. Especially for guys like GSP with his signature jab, and Dominick Cruz with his wild hooks and uppercuts.

    Some smaller things:

Add a random fighter selection for fight now. Sometimes me and my buds wanna leave it up to chance, ya know.

Stats for every regular strike, like on FN. Stats for how many jabs I landed, how many straights I landed, leg kicks, etc.

Better replays. I understand that sometimes they wouldn't be perfect, but I really don't get how or why it constantly shows random leg kicks when a round was full of knockdowns and chaos. Makes no sense.

I think Tony Ferguson should have signature lunges. He fluidly switches stances often enough to warrant them.

add health bars to removed for opponent online. Most of the community want this, the stamina should not be sen aswell.

Was there issues with it on the left left stick? If not can we get some alternate control schemes for EA UFC 3. I feel like movement would be better if headmovement and advanced dash were on separate analog sticks.

I like the new way don't get me wrong but I do wish there was another scheme as well that had those two mechanics separated.
because L1 + left stick is for signature lunges.

Maybe someone's already said this, but shouldn't the cage TD's be on that list? Like, they should be more frequent, so that they occur every time a TD is stuffed near the cage. I think no one's really been against upping their frequency. I saw the new single leg animation once online, and i played quite a few matches during the beta.

-Cage needs to be involved in the KO physics.

            -UT stats balance.

-More finish the fight variation. (Especially for the attacker being able to use two hands to finish the fight it's only one in the beta. Looks good though better than in UFC2.

-More knockdown animations + being able to attack/KO opponent during the auto stand up.

            - more stamina loss for failed and stuffed takedowns but that topic is hot in another thread already.

Like Felder or Alvarez have in Ea Ufc3.

                Ultimate Team Challenges updates

                - Show the challenge on the prefight screen without requiring the user to press RT to see it. Right now if you start the fight without pressing RT you have NO WAY of knowing what the challenge is and have to exit.

                - Add in fight indicators of what the challenge is. Once the fight starts you have no way of knowing what the challenge is. If you forget any of the challenge elements in the middle of the fight you have no way of knowing what they are.

                - Add in fight indicators of challenge progress. You have no way of tracking things like land 10 leg kicks or hold the opponent in half guard for 180 seconds. An on screen or pause menu strike tracker and timer would let users know how far they are into the challenge.

                - Allow users to know that they have failed a challenge that cannot be completed. The first challenge requires you to land 10 leg kicks without allowing a punch to your body. If you take a hit to the body in the first few seconds but don't notice or think you blocked it you may spend another 10 minutes trying to complete a challenge that you already failed without knowing.

                - Allow users to restart the fight before it finishes. If you start a challenge and fail in the first few seconds, you have to exit the fight and restart the challenge. There is currently no restart option for fights that havn't ended.

In this thread I will post the consensus list of everything we want changed or addressed, collectively. The format will also be easier to read than some of the other "final thoughts" threads.

To be clear: this is NOT my opinion. This list is a compilation of things that were popular and not easily/commonly disputed. The hope is to make it easy for the developers to sort through the mud.

                  - Stamina needs to effect fighter's ability to move and throw strikes. (This does not mean they need to be sitting ducks, only that they show the signs of fatigue).

                  - Head movement needs to be more reliable in regards to input lag and dodging. (Fighters should be able to smoothly move their head and throw their counter shot without standing still because of the input lag. Sways and ducks also do not properly dodge strikes at the moment. You will often get hit even though you correctly predicted the right sway angle).

                  - Jab - Body Kick needs to be nerfed. (Right now it's easy to pull off even when the opponent is pressuring you. Perhaps remove the hard combo or simply slow down the subsequent kick).

                  - Blocking needs to be faster. (This goes hand in hand with the body kick combo. Blocks just aren't fast enough even when you know the strike is coming. The body block particularly it seems).

                  - Fighters should have a basic swathe of submissions. (Everyone knows how to do a guillotine, an armbar, and a rear naked choke for example. Proficiency in regards to move levels is a different story).

                  - Missing/throwing strikes should have significantly more penalty on stamina. (Currently players are able to throw over 100 strikes per round. We get that this is a game and we don't want to slow down too much, but increasing the stamina penalty for throwing a lot of strikes will slow the pace in a good way).

                  - Balance the stamina/damage system to go for more rounds. (Right now it seems like no one is making it to a decision when it goes for five rounds. By the end of the second round everyone is already banged up and ready to be finished. Imagine when the clock switches to realistic. Keep the vulnerability frames, tune the damage and stamina).

                  - Nate Diaz. (I'm sure we all know this issue well enough by now. GPD seems to think it has something to do with his perks but, his 1-2 is ridiculous. I trust you guys to take a good hard look at him).

                  - Finish the fight should be a tad more frequent, but also more survivable. (This makes the FtF submissions viable).

                  - Ground and pound should break through blocks. (Right now full mount is a joke. The block break system should be implemented here).

                  - TKO finishes when the opponent blocks without improving position on the ground. (It was in last year and shouldn't have been removed).

                  - Striking power and speed should be divided back into left/right and punch/kick. (We're pretty much all in agreement that this change was a bad idea).

                  - KO zoom after fights needs to go. (This is a presentation issue. Everyone agrees the zoom is tacky and breaks immersion. Maybe add the "shadface" to KOed fighters if we're gonna keep this).

                  - The new camera affects gameplay. (If possible, have the classic UFC 2 camera angle as the default for online play. People can actually game the camera angles to survive a rock or stall out gameplay at this point. The dynamic camera also causes problems with button input directions. Not to mention, it's also super nauseating).

                  - Straight punches shouldn't still keep their stopping power at elbow/clinch range. (This is something in the deep dive I was looking forward to, but in practice doesn't seem to have worked. Straight punches have a different animation when up close, but still retain the same properties as when throw at proper range. The reach balances mentioned in the deep dive don't work as described).

If anyone has others that I've missed that pretty much everyone can agree on, let me know and I'll edit this list.

I also want to note that while somethings are clear bugs or something that we all agree on, I won't add small things or glitches to the list. This is about gameplay mechanics AND also needs to be concise to the major changes we want, we can't clutter it. I won't be adding anything about Ultimate Team either. This is reserved for the main gameplay systems.

Takedown against the cage animation needs to happen much more often, not just if the player defends the takedown late in the window. AI also need to be adjusted to allow human players to pin AI opponents in this animation.

Should be able to engage in over-under (possibly double under) from a takedown, not just by clinching. Fighters are too vulnerable to strikes during the clinch engagement animation. This can be allowed by going for takedown (L2 + RS) but tapping the right stick, not holding it.

The default clinch position against the cage should be over-under, not the Thai clinch.

That makes sense I forgot the signature lunges are mapped differently. No one in the beta had a signature lunge. Everything is all good then.

Alert knockdowns and knockdowns seemingly look like like clean KO animations which is not the case, there should be different distinguishable knockdown animations for every type of knockdowns and KOs

100% Agreed!!! EA Sports UFC fans should have the same expectations that
NBA Live fans, Madden fans, Fifa fans and 2k sports fans have, and that is fighter/player likeness across all facets of the game. In our case, stance, movement, strikes and all animations.

The Alert Knockdowns need more responsiveness, i've hit and ko'd people while they were in that position, but only with certain strikes. It should be a little easier to strike a downed opponent like it is in Bellator FC.

                          As seen below.

                          <div style="width:100%;height:0px;position:relative;pad ding-bottom:56.250%;"><iframe src="https://streamable.com/s/prxoy/idgewo" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="100%" allowfullscreen style="width:100%;height:100%;position:absolute;le ft:0px;top:0px;overflow:hidden;"></iframe></div>

I didn't get to mess around with it much in the beta but I did practice some strikes that I found will guarantee a connect if thrown. But maybe this system is fine as is. But I did notice if I didn't throw that strike I found that lands I was unable to hit a downed opponent.

Somewhere in this thread I seen someone land a 1-2 combo on their opponent who fell into a alert or active knockdown position. But it looked like the strikes just locked on and followed him as he was already on the way down.

I'm not sure how I feel on that, on one hand it can lead to some brutally well timed KO's.
On the other hand, it can feel a little cheap as timing a body kick after certain alert KOs will kick them in the face on the way down, a body knee will happily go to the head of a grounded opponent, you can also drop them, then as the animation of them getting up plays. you can time a unblockable headkick that will drop them again or more likely just KO them.

My issue with these its a risk the player didn't instigate, yes, they got knocked down, but they didn't choose to get back up immediately while there opponent was at very close range, and that's what gets you KO'd.

I kinda wish you had the option to stay on your back after all KDs, maybe have alerts pop you back up if you flick RS up before the animation finishes.

Definately agree instigating GnP can be way to hard sometimes from a KD. The AI wouldn't do the GnP finish ever either, it'd get me down, then stand over me wailing strikes..

Guys what about the referee, the AI is not as good as in undisputed 3. This should also be among the concise list since this game lacks presentation in some aspects.

The clinch game needs to be addressed for wrestlers u should be able to move in the clinch

                                - U should be able to move/walk opponent with double underhooks/dominate up and under to the cage
                                - allow it to be stamina based

                                New Finish the fight
When a fighter is in trouble the camera slighty zoom and shakes. The person on defense could parry strikes using: triangle and circle to parry right
and and x and square to parry left
they will parry and slip off the glove
This finish the fight should only happen in:
                                - full mount
                                - half guard
                                - full guard
                                - stacked guard
                                - side contol
We need a new finish the fight mini game to make the game feel newer. I feel that this little change can help dramatically and at the sametime add more fun and depth in the game
