Im not sure what new submissions they have added in but you cant really enjoy the submissions as you are so focused on the minigame.Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/im2good4u1

They finally have the foundation set and its a good one. Now I expect them to build on top of that.Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Tbh thats classic EA, they are able to make great changes at one time but decide not too. I dont know how they made career lackluster for ea ufc 1 and 2 when people been asking for a career mode like now. UD3 and FNC had much more better career modes and they couldnt even replicate that at all. Im real surprised there hasnt been any new takedown animations,Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/im2good4u1

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
lets be real ea ufc 3 is exactly the same as ea ufc 2 with the grappling. Just a new TD animation on the cage and a transition from sub side control. I know they primarily focused on stand up but come on they could have added more depth to the grappling and added more positions, the foundation is already there.

But do not get me started on the sub game lol. Most people don't even realize most subs attempts actually only last 4 seconds because they don't notice the other gates are just moving into position to get the sub. So we have 4 second sub battles basically. BRING BACK EA MMA SUB SYSTEM!...specifically how it was with chokes.
I see a lot of people with 100s or 1000+ fights with less than 20 sub wins. I always wonder if it's because they just can't stand the system and have no fun with it like I do. I also wonder if a game like EA MMA had so many players with so few sub wins.
Okay, I'm done with my submission rant for now...Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Ya gotta take into account the new career mode though too. That had to take a lot of time. From the way things sound both the clinch & grappling may be worked on at once, which likely is happening for the next game. But that's just an assumption from what's been implied.

That is because i hate the ground and submission game.
I actually have not hated the ground so much in any UFC game till this one.PSNID: B_A_N_EComment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Let's not forget what got the UFC hypetrain started. The tree grew from these roots...
We need a solution GPD i really wanna love/buy this game on release... But def. Won't pay 70-90€ for a softcore version of UFC 2. Many others feel the same, can't be that hard to get the ref close to the downed fighter weaving his arms can it?
That solution would be acceptable for players & UFC officials who forgot where they came from...Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
2000 fights? No way, lol. That's only like 3 fights a day on average.
J/k for some reason I was thinking you probably had closer to 10000 fights.Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Unfortunately I think most people played the game like this. Huge bummer IMO since the clinch/ground game is so critical in real life MMA.
Honestly being a grappler was very unsatisfying (especially judo/Greco Roman) bc takedown-variety was very shallow, there was no scramble/struggle to get the fight to the ground, and the clinch was basically useless and caused more trouble than it was worth (especially since shooting for takedowns was often more successful and less risky than takedowns via the clinch).

I can understand not liking the submission system, but what about the actual ground game do you not like?Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
@Mopsikopat36, MMA has HAD to change from those roots like all sports to not only become mainstream, but to become safer. It's happened to almost every sport you can think of with mainstream appeal. The refs have been more and more active in stopping fighters from following up on KOs and I'm sure they are more stern about them backstage before the fight when talking to the fighters too. Brain trauma has become a major concern sports in recent years. So I think our biggest issue now is simply referee interaction if we are going for realism.Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
Been wanting ref interactions since the first game. The hype about EA UFC 1 was that it was being made for the next gen system. So it was supposed to have better graphics, better authenticity, etc. Ref stoppages/interactions is the absolute most authentic thing in mma. A fighter instinctively going after a fighter that gets dropped whether it's a ko or not is also one of the most common, authentic things in mma. If there's absolutely no chance of there being that option of hitting an opponent after the ko, at least put in an animation that shows the ref step in front of the fighter, stopping them or something. Both things should have been in the game from the beginning though, since authenticity and realism was one of the major selling points of these games. 3 games in and neither have been put in. (It was patched in later in UFC 2 I believe) In my opinion, both things are important for an MMA game. Just knocking an opponent out and not being able to attempt to finish them is basically a boxing game. (I know there's kickboxing and Muy Thai, but I just used boxing for this analogy) Really hope these things are worked on and discussed more, along with other things. Having to wait another few years to see if they do it in the next game is brutal.Last edited by the_brooklynite; 01-14-2018, 04:20 PM.Comment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
90% of take downs come via a single leg from clinch.
Having to hold the damn stick a certain direction to transition instead of actually transitioning with the stick.
baby punches increasing your grapple advantage?!?! grapple advantage!?!?!
Not being able to stand up from submissive side control with majority of characters.
being stuck in side control while someone lands baby punches till he koes you.
GNP sucking.
i could go on.PSNID: B_A_N_EComment

Re: GPD's official response to Finish the Fight discussion
I don't understand why someone would want to make the ground game transitions MORE complicated. They changed it to holding the stick in one direction because turning the stick was cumbersome and inaccurate.
If 90% of TDs are from the leg grab in single collar, my boy, you need to block that. You have to preempt them if they attempt it right after a transition.
I agree on side control. It's terrible. The new transition makes it less terrible.
Baby punches are a necessary gameplay mechanic for balancing.
GNP doesn't suck. It's awesome. Most people are just terrible. I knock people out from GUARD because they're so bad. They literally sit there and use side to side transitions while getting beat on. I have no idea why this is a common reaction between bad players. They think it's just because the ground game is inherently terrible, because they don't realize they aren't good. And when you illuminate this for them, they get super defensive because THEY couldn't possibly be the bad one.Comment
