Re: Missing fighters, voice your support!
I made the majority of this list nearly a year ago. Only a few additions since then, those coming nearly 6 months ago. I understand it's difficult to nail down an up to date roster in the ever changing landscape of MMA, however I still feel as though it could have been much better. Also, this roster was definitely not decided 2 years ago. Moraes is in and he only debuted this past June. Diakiese and Moreno only debuted a little over a year ago. Just my opinion, perhaps I will be proven wrong as more is revealed and once DLC has rolled out.Last edited by sdpdude9; 01-17-2018, 12:41 AM.Comment

- By now, we all know that EA UFC doesnt have a ton of art resources. We also know that EA UFC doesnt have its own art team and they share it with other teams. Those resources were likely reduced from 2 to 3 since one of the goals with 2 was to blow out the roster and significantly increase the roster size. So there is a set limitation in the amount of fighters they can add.
- It also takes a lot of time to create each roster fighter.
- To keep it simple, lets say the team could only make 5 fighters (I know its alot more but for the sake of argument). At the start of development in 2016, they asked for a list of new fighters. At the time the list could look like this:
Will Brooks (former Bellator champ with alot of hype)
Teturo Ishihara
Francisco Trinaldo
Jason Knight
Ryan Hall
The team starts working on the fighters and finishes Brooks and Ishihara. When they get to Trinaldo, the team finds out that the UFC signed Justin G., Moraes and a bunch of people have been cut from the Flyweight division so they need more Flyweights.
So what happens? The team weighs what will be a bigger deal....leaving out Trinaldo, Knight and Hall or Moraes, Justin G. and Moreno. They choose the latter and I think it was the right decision. Why? Because I've seen more people complain about Justin being missing than Trinaldo, Knight and Hall combined here, on Reddit and Twitter.
In a perfect world, EA would just add more artists and we could have them all now. Sadly we arent.Comment

Edit: I hope this isn't taken as a knock against the team, as I know they worked hard on this game. I know their focus doesn't necessarily align with what I want, but I am just expressing my opinion.Last edited by sdpdude9; 01-17-2018, 09:38 AM.Comment

If it costs money, charge for it. I think people will buy fighter packs pretty regularly. A lot of people have complained on here. There will be many more who buy the game that don't get on forums. I think it's a false assumption to think that people who don't visit forums can't or won't be hardcore fans of the sport willing to buy fighter packs.
If you want to supplement what you can't get done during a development cycle due to resource constraints that's understandable. But I really feel (with obviously not having a clear understanding of the EA side, but knowing I would buy every fighter put out) that there is a revenue stream waiting to be cashed in on as it pertains to the roster.
It just feels like that is a sad budget for the art team if they already had all these fighter scans in from last year and the example is correct about what they can do going forward.

I agree with all of this. But maybe, what this has illustrated is there is a market for fighters and the roster.

Re: Missing fighters, voice your support!
Yeah, more traditional fighting games, the netherrealm games specifically sell them for £4.99 each and I've never heard too much complaining. Obviously, I don't think I spend £4.99 on 1 UFC fighter, unless it's someone I'm an absolute mark for, but I'd pretty happily spend that amount for 4 or so fighters, provided I was interested in them. Although obviously, free like the previous games would be better, use the money from Ultimate Team haha
So let us pay for after that time. You end up keeping those guys into the next game as long as they don't leave the UFC (nobody is gonna blame the game for that) and since those fighters are already made, you have more ability to focus on the newer additions and indie fighters further down the roster.
Maybe I'm overestimating what people will buy. But I know I've literally run a UFC 2 universe from the day it launched all the way up until now. $5-$10 won't kill me. Others will simply get bored beating people with the same fighters online and will want to beat Conor McGregor with someone new. Video gamers are notoriously frivolous spenders. I would gladly take 3-5 fighter roster update every month for a price up until UFC 4, especially if knew it also mean that they would be closer to getting a more complete roster with every generation of the game.

Re: Missing fighters, voice your support!
I understand this, but part of point was that in my opinion, more focus should have been put on the roster. We saw what they were capable of doing with the previous iteration, I at least thought we'd get a more up to date roster. I will reserve final judgment until all is released, but there's no arguing that the roster has been a big disappointment for most so far. I know the team has been and likely will be very supportive of the games post launch. I'm sure once all is said and done it will be closer to what we want, but I'm sure I'm not the only one let down by what we have so far.
Edit: I hope this isn't taken as a knock against the team, as I know they worked hard on this game. I know their focus doesn't necessarily align with what I want, but I am just expressing my opinion.Comment

People always call EA "lazy" (you arent saying that) and that isnt completely correct. They are solely financially focused like most corporations. If their data showed that they could make a good amount from fighter DLC, we all know they would be offering it because it makes them revenue. I just dont think they think that its worth the additional manpower.Comment

Stop offering to pay for things we get for free. The devs seem to want to offer more fighters after release without us needing to pay.Comment
