Some denials that I still haven't figured out:

    - How do I deny the transition from closed guard to rubber guard from the bottom guy?

    - What about the get up transition from side control bottom?

      Tl;dr
Side control get up is denied the same way you would deny the half guard transition (left or right depending on position). Rubber guard is denied the same way you deny a triangle, get-up, or scissor sweep. Because it shares the same “tell” as all those. So whichever direction their legs go, deny that way.

Every transition has a “tell”, and you just deny based on that tell. It doesn’t matter what the transition is, it just matters what the “tell” is.

Sometimes, different transitions have the same “tell”. Meaning, even though the transitions themselves are different, they start off looking identical. So you don’t have to know what transition your opponent is doing, you only need to see the “tell”, and deny accordingly.

The rubber guard, and the side control get up, are both examples of transitions which share “tells” with other transitions.

For the rubber guard, the “tell” is the same as a scissor sweep, escape, or a triangle. They all look the identical. So don’t worry about if it’s rubber guard, just deny it the same way you would deny any of those. Whichever direction their legs are going, left or right, deny that way.

For the side control getup, the “tell” is the same as the half guard transition. So just deny it the same as you would for the HG transition (RT + away from your opponent).

There's two ways to recognize which direction is Rubber Guard.

        1. The guy on bottom will hold his hand on the back of the top fighter's head. Whichever hand the bottom fighter is using is also rubber guard.

E.g. If he holds your head with his right hand, rubber guard is also right.

        2. The guy on bottom crosses his legs around your back. Whichever leg is under the other one is rubber guard.

E.g. If his right leg is under his left leg, rubber guard is right.

        ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks. It's strange though because while I'm able to deny the "scissor get up" from closed guard bottom, I don't seem to be able to deny the rubber guard transition so I figured it might it might be different. Same for the get up from side control bottom

Ok so if he's holding me with the right hand I'm gonna deny on the right, correct?

Heres how you remember rubberguard and overunders and back sitting.

Over unders/rubberguard my arms. Everything else your arms. Its very important you watch the shoulders for your tell. Rubberguard is like a full guard crucifix. Great setup for the triangle after dominating them there

I've got a few questions regarding Grappling.

When you have somebody in rubber guard how do you deny your oppositions transitions so they can't get out of rubber guard?

Do we have a list of two/three(green) gate submissions for each fighters?

Also when you are in a submission (attacking) do you just flick the gate or do you have to hold it?

                    1. Watch which arm they're trying to move - if it's the one to your left — R2 + Left, if it's the other one — R2 + Right. If it's neither, that means he's trying to get into Stacked Guard so you deny R2 + Down.

                    2. UFC 2 used to have a lot of fighters with green gates but in 3 the most reliable guys who certainly have them are Cerrone and Diaz, especially from Guard. Ferguson, Rockhold, Jacare, etc. might also have them but I'm not sure, maybe someone else can help.

                    3. You flick the gate with the left stick as soon as you see it, but at the same time you hold in the directions the opponent's trying to escape with the right stick.

I believe it’s when you have double underhooks and your back is against the cage
