Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
I am worried. At least a slight reduction on movement speed with someone holding high block? Enough that they can't move at exactly the same speed as their opponent? A reduction on the strength of high block while moving? Surely these are better options. The 1-2s come out too fast at close range for the head movement and short counters to be effective enough. idk I'm shookComment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
If they are literally just holding high block like you say, and not doing anything else at all.
Literally just holding high block.
Nothing else.
And you aren't exaggerating in the least with your description.
Check out this tip video I posted.
If they are doing more than holding high block, this change will help.
He’ll do what Romero did but after you throw the first combo he’ll just duck uppercut +hook you. Now your stamina is low from the first combo, even lower after the whiff and you’re in a vulnerable state. He gets mad rocks and knockdowns from it.
If you try to back up he’ll just follow you while holding high block and wait for the above to happen. Any kicks thrown also get duck uppercut because he’s so close.Comment

So Serengeti apparently is a master turtle.

So anticipate what he's going to do and punish him for it.Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
Keep long term stamina drain where it is, just have it effect speed less.
Fighters can throw a quick shot when drained, they just can't do s*** after that.
Example: Please look at Scott Smith vs. Pete Sell as an example of this. Threw a quick straight but then had NOTHING left and collapsed.

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
Some do. But they are forced to fight on the inside. It's definitely a beatable style.... but really only by fighting the same style. You can't effectively create distance against it. I understand that the idea is that straights having more stopping power at close range is the way this is going to be done but I think what I've suggested would be a better idea to keep all ranges balanced?Comment

I just don't know if I'll have time to try it out and test it for the first patch.
We'll see.Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
He’s saying he can literally force anyone into a toe to toe battle where he’s in your face holding high block so he can wait for you to try to break his block. Then he’ll respond with a duck uppercut. He mixes in the occasional lean if you lead with uppercuts.
He ran some test fights with Solid_Altar who confirmed it’s an issue.(Being that you cant keep someone off of you if they hug high block. Not that they’re unstoppable)Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
people are holding high block now because they know getting hit to the body doesnt affect them now from punches and throwing body kicks from short range is dangerous. Also they will mix in a uppercut when they see if you do try to go to the body so its not worth it.Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/user/im2good4u1

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
I think that's all that would be necessary to balance gameplay tho. Not making straight punches have a ton of stopping power at close range too. I feel that would create problems in itself. Just my opinion based on experimenting and playing the game at different points.Comment

That makes a big difference and Im down with that.
Walking into a straight even a short one should mess you up.
Is it possible for jabs to affect your opponents accuracy if landed as an intercept strike?Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
Might be a good idea to jack it up on the jab.
(hadn't thought of this before just now, but maybe tuning the strike muffling window per strike, and increasing it for the jab could give it more utility)Comment

Re: I hope a lesson can be learned here
It kind of does that already, but it's not tuned differently per strike.

Hopefully it works out if tested some.
