I imagine scrapping UT would get us less, assuming they direct a reasonable portion of the revenue into developing changes to the actual mechanics of the game and that 100% of it doesn't go into picture on packs/cards

Knowing EA it probably goes straight into the big wigs pockets.

Im terrified of this game going in the same direction as Madden.

The UT is constantly evolving and changing but they ignore offline guys

I can't find it at this time, but I was watching a technique video that was taking about it. It was the first time I heard of 3/4 mount so it stuck in my head. Probably knee on belly.

Zabit's knee on belly looked fantastic last fight, a striker that can grapple?

If that's the case, then obviously scrap it, but if even like 10% of the revenue goes into mechanics or animations for the actual fights, or fighter models or anything like that, I'm all for keeping it tbh, since it's clearly a mode some people enjoy as well.

Yeah I seen that his knee on belly was so effective, the mmahour posted a video on YouTube on how he utilized it against Sheymon Moraes. Takes the air out of opponents and gives options on whether to go to mount or crucifix. He’s a really good grappler with great striking skills as well, very scaring for 145 and is gonna be a good addition in the game because 145 is boring right now in ufc 3

Mount is fine - the cheesers that go there and intentionally start submissions and immediately cancel them to score points are not.

                  You get poins for those???

I thought subs only scored if it got past the 1st gate

If they would stop weighing so much judging points for submission attempts, then problem is fixed. It's ridiculous how a many points just attempting a submission gets you.

Yes they do get points, and the armbar from mount simply keeps you in mount after it's cancelled.

It's supreme cheese and it's a tactic that a lot of Werdum players resort to as he has two different subs from mount.

For any sub you get points, it’s crazy I’ve been in multiple fights where I’m controlling my opponent on the ground landing strikes, even on the feet more sig strikes and they would win by attempting 4+ subs

If your talking sim play, FM is not fine. If you're talking video game balance, that's still arguable...IRL, fighters simply aren't finishing fresh opponents from FM from just a dozen or less punches left & right. Lately, you also see multiple fighters slipping out of FM. We see them slip out or sweep from FM when FM is already established or when the fighter is just beginning to attempt to establish FM more than often these days in the UFC.

Striking wise it's slightly more realistic than UFC 2. But this is one of those things they could really look at EA MMA and see how it should look and work. It's relatively rare nowadays to see fights ended from GnP in FM via getting out-wrestled and not from knock downs. SO I don't know if people that think FM is fine are looking for realism and sim play or just video game balance. Because KOing opponents from full mount with little to no damage prior is not sim at all.

I definitely think top mount is OP. Now with arm traps being a lot harder to get, it's like, whoever can get to top mount first (especially in UT mode) is going to win. If you dont have pretty much full stamina against someone even semi-decent, it's super difficult to get out of top mount. The best way I've found so far is to wait for a strike, pull them down and then transition to half guard. But if the halfguard transition is blocked you're basically ****ed. Unless you have a fighter with a great off the back rating, you have pretty much one chance to get out of top mount, maybe 2 at the most before you just get pounded out and there's nothing you can do.

They should nerf it a little. Make arm trapping a little easier or make the transition to pull the fighter down faster, because a lot of time you get hit before the transition fills up to pull them down from postured up. And then after a couple more strikes, arm trapping isn't even an option and you're just ****ed.

It's not as OP in ranked (though I still think it could overall be slightly taken down in power even though in real life it is a very powerful position to be in) but in ultimate team it's basically impossible to get out of top mount against a grappler if you're a striker. I feel bad doing it to people it's so easy to just top mount them and end the fight. And when I'm using one of my more striking based fighters it's basically if you let them get top mount, its over. People are cheesing it big time in ultimate team.
