In theory yes, but when I said that, I was taking into account the performance. It was like watching the "I watch ufc" guy vs a pro mma fighter. GSP vs Punk wouldn't have been that much different if GSP chose to take him down too. GSP would have maybe looked to submit him quicker instead of beat the snot outta him, but the result would have been the same.

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
I never had a problem with the way KO's looked in this game.
So if we get at least two more patches, the one tomorrow included, that means we could get 7-8 (or more) new fighters.
Absolute "must be added" fighters for me are:
Sean O'Malley
Israel Adesanya
David Branch
Thiago Santos
Zabit Magomedsharipov
If we get those fighters I will be happy.
Others who could be added:
Mackenzie Dern
Alex Hernandez
Lando Vanatta
Tai Tuivasa
Antonio Carlos Junior
BROCK LESNAR
That being said as much as I like Lando...how could you put him in and not David Teymur (btw there fight was one of the best fights I have seen). I also think Tybura might be interesting but I would put him well on the bottom of the list. Cody Stamman could be interesting too.
btw...I really like that Hernandez kid. I think he is going to be special.Comment

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
It might. The majority might love more ragdoll. They also might not think that the ragdoll KO's are "beautiful" as some of them did look a bit ridiculous.
Thats all besides the point though.
No one should ever say "Most of the people here want something" as the sole reason why something should get changed. I've been guilty of it in the past but in reality, OS is a small but passionate part of the community. There are alot of reasons to add more ragdoll but 30 people here wanting it isnt one of them.Comment

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
Brocks one strength is wrestling. DC is head over heels better than Brock in that area. Then when you add DC's quick hands and cardio. Plus the fact that Brock hasn't fought in a bit he is screwed.
DC has never lost a round at HW
Brock hates getting punched in the face
My point is that when you remove the juice and nullify the wrestling or even worse get outwrestled the way Cummings, Hendok who are both more skilled albeit smaller wrestlers there is nothing left with Brock.
Anyway in game. He will be horrible and worse than real life unless they give him the legendary treatment. Everyone uses JDS or DC online at this point. He will be jabbed into oblivion.Comment

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
That being said his actual technical wrestling ability is highly overrated. He has fought 3 good wrestlers in his career.
1. Rand Couture - He was 14 years older well past his prime and he gave up 40-50lbs on fight day. Not to mention Randy was probably not on the sauce
2. Shane Carwin - Rd 1 Shane should have been arrest for assault. Rd. Luck was on Brocks side he could not walk.
3. Cain Velasquez - Do you remember that break dancing move he did. To Brocks credit, he took Cain down. However, Cain instantly got up and took Brock down with ease. If you watch the fight (as quick as it was) there were a few opportunities where cain could have taken brock down and didn't and instead chose to beat him into oblivion.
So lets recap. Brock is big and his pure size and athleticism will get takedowns on guys like Hunt, Herring and Mir (a guy who didn't mind being takendown)
However, when Brock fought someone who was a proficient wrestler who was of able body. Brock has had two rounds of being totally mauled. That was when Brock was a young man on juice.
Old man Brock on no juice against the probably a top 3 most skilled wrestler to ever step foot in the Octagon is screwed.
Now to give him some historical context....in terms of wrestling at HW...there have been guys light years ahead of him. (DC, Coleman, Kerr, Randleman, Severn, Prime Randy, possibly Blaydes from a technical stand point, and Cain all come to mind without looking too far.) If there was an 8 man tourney of the best HW MMA wrestlers in their prime. Brock might not be invited and if he did he is 1 and done...and I am talking Mir beating Prime Brock.Comment

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
I actually think that no one should ever say "no one should ever say". Every can say whatever they want. You have many times have exercised your right to be wrong. OS is small, but don't minimize it. The casual fan doesn't care about much and are super fickle. If you can make this group happy. If nothing else they would help sell the game via word of mouth. I don't tell my friends about this game its horrible. I do however, tell them about the "Show"...when it was good....lol.
You can’t argue the numbers. There are maybe 100 people who regularly interact with this forum. Many are well reasoned and smart people but they are still just 100 people. 100 people don’t represent the buying public as a whole. They aren’t the entire community. They are a small but vocal segment of the community. So just because this community wants something doesn’t mean it automatically means that it should be added to the game or is of the utmost importance.

2. How do you know who the 100 people represent? Do you know the background and demo of all 100. Do you know the background and demo of all the possible people that would buy this game? So then how would you know how well of a representative sample it is.
3. Taking that second point further...even if the 100 people here are not a representative sample of the population. How do you know that making a game that satisfies there needs will or won't satisfy the needs of the unknown population of people who might buy this game?
4. So how would you know that if this community wants something it SHOULDNT be in this game. How do you know that the community isn't pointing the devs in the right direction.
5. If the hardcore community is unable to point the devs in the right direction. Then what the hell is the point of game changers?
I will give you an example in the late 1970's the general population was watching sports movies, westerns and dramas. If George Lucas has made a movie just because he thought the general population wanted it he would have made a sequel to American Graffitti. Instead he made Star Wars which found an audience and has been copied and made into the franchise that it is. Because the quality was so good it not got the hardcore sci-fi fans and the general audience, but it MADE sci-fi fans. In gaming think of the 2K series especially NFL 2K. Madden was the gold standard. But instead of copying 2K just focused on making quality games and in the process it made gold.
I can give countless examples like that in sports and media. Greatness often comes not from going with whats popular but just having a passion and making something good....(Steph Curry, The Matrix, Mass Effect, the video game industry) were all born in such ways.
Taking a line from a great movie -Last edited by OPSPunk; 08-22-2018, 06:07 PM.Comment

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
I was not exaggerating. Brock's success was a function of his size and roids. The lack of HW talent and match making. I can't think of one win of his that I can't attribute to that. OK...there is the Carwin fight, but he was getting smashed until Carwin couldn't feel his legs to me that was an anomaly.

And lets not forget the heath herring backflip lol to say he is unskilled is just ridiculous

1) People can say it. I think they would be wrong to do so and I can also say that too.
2) This is a forum that is geared toward hardcore sim sports gamers and fans. The large majority of people here would identify themselves as that.
3) You poll and survey a vast majority of diverse gamers who play and own the game. You also go to different sites and social media platforms that discuss the game and take in input. EA doesnt just take information regarding what fans want from this site. They pull information from several different sources that are more diverse (when it comes to the type of player) than OS.
4) I never said that. I said that we shouldnt assume that just because this community wants something its whats best for the game.
5) I'm not going to get into another GC discussion with you because you seem to have a hard on for us and I've already explained the purpose of the program. I will say this every member of the GC isnt a hardcore sim sports gamers. Many of them werent OS members until they closed the EA forums down. A few of them still arent even OS members. Many of them rarely interact with this community. Its a diverse group and they arent all members to service the hardcore community or OS.
I'm not here to discuss whether the devs should only or primarily listen to this community much more than I already have. This community comes up with some great ideas and they also come up with some pretty ****ty ones. Some that are in the middle and just need some tweaking.
If you believe all the input should come from the people who regularly post here (now that I think about 100 was a bit of an overestimate), do your thing. I disagree so we can just leave it at that.Last edited by aholbert32; 08-22-2018, 06:47 PM.Comment

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
This thread is coming off the rails. The OSPunk guy is an obvious troll at this point. Let’s get back to what brought us here... Daaaaa patch!
I’ll start by saying what I’m most excited about:
I’m most excited about the new buffs to outside fighting. In particular if I had to pick one patch note it would be if you major side step a forward moving combo your opponent stops tracking you. This is going to be brutal for dem spammers booooy (think of Cody saying hanging wit da boys accent as you read this).
What’s everyone most excited about?Comment

Re: Patch spoilers discussion
You cant credit brock for anything can you. You're saying he has 20 years in athletic achievement at high levels because of steroids? The mans heart and body would be breaking down right now. He also suffered bad diverticulitis and had 12 inches of his large intestine removed not long after the overeem fight. The dudes the most explosive heavyweight in history and can take anyone down. He doesnt have the most impressive resume but just because he isnt technical like a curtis blaydes doesnt mean he cant get on top of almost anyone and smash their face into the mat.
And lets not forget the heath herring backflip lol to say he is unskilled is just ridiculous

He has guts (pun intended)for competing with diverticulitis. But nothing in any of his fights suggests that he was more than a huge athletic wrestler with minimal skill. I mean after all.
Go look at young I would say 180lb Lesnar. He had a "growth spurt" and then another one after he was done with the NCAA. So yes I think his 20 year athletic career was 33% due to enhancements. Another 33% was due to the fact that his NCAA career, WWE career and his UFC career were both during low points in talent for the division he was in.
This kid doesn't become that man without help

That being said...I agree with you about the side step being a nice addition. With this games over emphasis on striking to make the striking more realistic is so crucial. Some of the AI changes make me interested in trying out single player again. I have such a cool spreadsheet for a Universe, but with the crappy AI I never really bothered with it. To me the trick will be how do all these new additions integrate as a whole into the gameplay. I am hopeful. I still think takedowns need some help, but I think I might have to wait until the next game.
That being said its time to take this train off the rails for a second....Comment
