This reminds me of a match between Afro and Advanced BZ back on UFC 2. I was in the party.

Advanced was holding Afro on the ground, laying in his guard, doing no damage. So at one point Afro just dropped his controller and left the room, so Advanced could just finish the fight. But when he came back ten minutes later he still lost a decision.

As funny as it was, it still goes to show, there are times when quitting is acceptable.

In the first few UFC tournaments, people would quit if someone mounted them or held onto them for too long.
