One of the biggest thinks I think people overlook with the volume issue is this inherent difference between real-life and gaming: Throwing at a high volume requires that you risk being hit, and being hit hurts.

In a video game, that's obviously not an issue, and realistically speaking, it never will be. Being tired is also painful, in a different way, which also can't be replicated in a video game.

That said, you CAN gas guys out if they're that thirsty. I've tired out the best conditioned fighters (Holloway, Diaz, etc.) by making them miss (not forcing them to to hit my block, but making them whiff entirely) and working the body.

That's to say nothing of how much that strategy would work against guys who don't have great stamina (Woodley, Rumble, Ngannou, etc.)

Fighters like that are generally easy to bait, because they typically don't have the discipline that even the highest-volume guys IRL have. You just have to not fall into the trap of trying to match their volume. If they throw three strikes and hit air, for every one strike you throw that connects, you're good.
I really don't buy the "the player can't feel the pain" argument.

Let him know throwing hundreds of strikes with the wrong fighter will result in gassing in up to 2 rounds and they'll be forced to quickly adapt.

Make health events a meaningful occurrence in a fight, one that changes the entire momentum of a fight or that can end it in a blink of an eye and they'll know they have to really be careful.

Right now they have few reasons to worry about that. Impose such consequences on them and they'll play differently, they don't have to be faced with real pain to do so.

That's not true, though. Against someone who's bad (not saying you're bad necessarily), yeah, they won't have to worry about any of that, but it is possible to make them pay.

I'm not even that good, and I've ended lots of fights in the first round because my opponent was way too thirsty. It also depends on who you use. You can't expect to finish someone in 2 minutes if you have Dominick Cruz or something, no matter how they play.

Oh no, don't get me wrong, it's very possible to beat such players. I also love pressure style fighters. This isn't about that.

My biggest gripes have to do with the unrealistic representation of damage and stamina, and of the "styles make fights" nature of MMA. I have no problem if you choose Max Holloway and look to pressure and hit me with volume, that's what he does. What I don't like is that guys like Lewis or Woodley have to block break like Holloway too, instead of looking for that one power shot that can end it all, while actually having poor stamina to make up for it. And many other styles (e.g. Cruz' evasion). And having double digit health events between fighters in a single fight is infuriating. They mean next to nothing.

Are you sure you're not exaggerating? I haven't seen 10+ health events in one fight too often. You've got to hit with your best strikes while they're vulnerable or break their block during a health event.

I feel like if you have Max, Conor, etc., and you rock someone 5+ times but don't knock them out, some of the blame has to fall on the user for their inability to finish

Lol. Those are 59 health events in total in 3 fights. These photos were taken in January and were in consecutive fights. 59 health events. I actually intended to show you similar pictures but with Hunt and JDS, which I have also uploaded on here in the past, but I stumbled upon these instead. If you don't think this is insanity, I don't know what to tell you. I really don't.

Was that directed at me by any chance? Sorry if it isn't, I just can't tell.

I'm over a year late asking...but are the Icon Edition Roster updates available for free if I buy the base game? Is every fighter and venue available for free (other than Bruce Lee).

                      Thanks in advance.

At some point players have to learn how to hold themselves accountable for how they play, instead of pointing fingers at everything else.

I had some crazy good fights with Uni-Bot04 & EdParker02, and we barely threw past 40-60 strikes in the first four rounds of our 5 rounders, and either got no rocks at all, or at MOST three.

It's way more fun fighting somebody who knows what they're doing, rather than dealing with some idiot on Ranked who thinks that throwing an absurd amount of combos is going to do anything for them, and when they get knocked out in the second they feel the need to send hilarious angry PSN Messages 😭🤷🏾*♂️.

Done wasting my time with this trash game

Every mechanic in the game favors spamming/mashing combos this game is a joke and will never get fixed

Too many games coming out this month to bother with this button mashing garbage

Random thing that always bugged me but obviously isn't even close to being a game-breaker:

During fighter introductions in real life, Bruce Buffer always says "He/she holds a professional record: [insert their W-L record]."

In the game, he says "He/she holds a professional record of [insert their W-L record]."

The latter is definitely more intuitive, and it's the way you'd probably expect someone to phrase it, but it's just something I noticed.

[Justin Gaethje: Stiff arm/Retreating arm guard]
I believe he's one of the only fighters in ufc 3 who don't have it due to the fact his siganture guard is the same cotroller input as the retreat animation (R1 + R2).
Maybe the devs can try implementing that for him specifically next game.
                                Example:
Retreat animation control for Justin: R2 + R1
                                Signature Guard for Justin: R2 + R1 + L1 <div style="width:100%;height:0;padding-bottom:56%;position:relative;"><iframe src="https://giphy.com/embed/JUjw2jieMHvg9QQIp3" width="100%" height="100%" style="position:absolute" frameBorder="0" class="giphy-embed" allowFullScreen></iframe></div><p><a href="https://giphy.com/gifs/JUjw2jieMHvg9QQIp3">via GIPHY</a></p>
