Re: Dev question: I still want to know who asked for this?...

I want to know where EA got their data for things they added and didnt add into the game this year. What data shows that people wanted wacky cosmetics as a main feature in this game. What data shows people didnt want pride, strikeforce, WEC, (they added the gloves so they had to be thinking there was interest). Like where does the data come from to add or deny things that were never in any of their previous games? because it sure doesnt come from player feedback.

To think that they worked as hard as possible for 2.5 years and what they brought to the table was this clinch system, which needs a lot of work imo and animated pants and tiger heads is laughable. Didnt finish career because i was so bored and the rest of the remaining modes feel like a less fun UFC 3 so far. As someone who played 3 right up until launch there is nothing for me to be excited about here and its already collecting dust

I respect it. Dont get me wrong. I'm not against the game. If people like the changes OR if they are like me with most EA Sports games and just make the best of it....I'm cool with that.

What I cant stand is the loudmouths who post for years about their issues with the game and threaten not to buy the game only to turn right around and buy it.

You want change? You want this game to cater to you? Start by making them earn your money. Then I have no problem with whatever you say about the game. That gives you a free pass to say whatever you want.

Good to see a couple of people have stuck to their guns.

I’ve still got nearly 6 hours left on the trial and just don’t see why I should buy based on what I’ve played.

As much as I complained about certain things in ufc 3, I bought it on both consoles and played almost every day. With UFC 4 I could easily do without it.

This isn't 'coding' they teach in Grade 2 - this is high level and extremely complicated stuff.

Lots of people brush it off because they just don't understand.

Yes. It's incredibly difficult and time consuming.

a developer of a game 8 years ago seemed to figure it out...

Mostly lurk in this part of OS, but ever since I heard ufc 4 was in the works I was as excited as anyone. After all the UFC 3 patches, I took your sliders and that wmma game and started a nice universe mode.

All it would’ve taken for me to buy ufc 4 was a nice roster update with all top 10/15 fighters in all divisions, some new animations/movesets, an updated career mode and maybe a few other cherries on top like walk in animations or Bruce buffer calling out your created fighters first/last name. That’s it...

Instead we all know what we got, when I got the beta, man... that was one of the saddest gaming moments I could remember. To see they took a promising trajectory and instead focused so much attention on emotes and unrealistic attire... And even after that, I feel dumb for buying $4.99 ea access. I wanted to see if they “fixed” or added anything. My trial still sits at 6 hours 45 min... coming from a guy with hundreds of hours on 3 who was counting down the days to hear ufc 4 info. Yes the new clinch is cool but it’s just hard to enjoy the game with so much missing and so much stuff there that almost is a slap in the face to longtime ufc fans.

Sucks, but I won’t be buying this game the way it is now, first time not buying a ufc game on release since the first undisputed. I do hope when the games free on ea access mid-late 2021 and there’s been _ patches to add things like CHANGING FIGHTER SHORTS, maybe I’ll be back to give it a try. But until then I guess I’ll try to get goat status on another ufc 3 career whenever I get that ufc gaming itch

It is highly cyclical. Most fans come and go within 5 years. There are all these little moments where fans enter the sport with fighters that bring them in, and then basically leave with that generation of fighters as they retire.

They did it with the early UFC.
They did it with the first TUF 1 era.
It happened with the Brock Lesnar era.
It's processing out the Ronda Rousey and Conor McGregor era fans as we speak.

Now, you will constantly get a fresh new cycle, so it isnt like the sport will fall off necessarily. But it doesn't grow the way you might think it does. The majority of the fan base doesn't mature, it dies off and a new nascent fan takes their place. Then they reach a certain level and die off.

This forum is filled with decade plus fans i suspect. They are rare and that is why EA isn't catering to us.

true. I've been a fan since 2009 but im getting bored of mma. UFC is also losing the big names legends of the sport. When Jon Jones, khabib, Overeem, Stipe etc all these big names will retire I'm moving on. These new prospects don't excite me as much as when I was younger

UFC problem is they have oversaturated their own product. I remember back in the days when UFC would hold once card every 3 months. You waited for those cards and you cared about the fighters. Everyone fighting in the UFC was pro level and deserved to be there.

Even when they moved to one one fight card a month with a Fight night on spike sprinkled in here and there the PPV’s still felt like a big deal. Nowadays the run 4 fight cards a month, and if you watch some of the prelim fights you see a ton of guys with a talent levels that would have relegated them to the regional scene.

Also, I have ESPN plus and love it. But granting access to PPV’s exclusively through ESPN plus, and the Reebok deal were bad business in my point of view

To be honest I was a big casual back then. I didn't even know what mma was. Overeem brought me to the sport because he knocked out badr hari. But man do I miss that era of 2009-2013. I watched every fight from the prelims to main card back then and everything was better. the fighters and personalities, the press conferences, Tuf, q&a etc.. Then conor came and man that was alot of fun. but mma lately has not been that interesting to me only the big fights..

EA didnt give them what they wanted so they did the only thing they could.

They didnt buy the game because they needed to do a "user review".
Back on topic, add me to the list of people who think EA don't deserve a penny of my money for this phoned in, minimum effort garbage.

I've actually dusted off the 360 and broke out fight night 4 instead of buying this. Havent played it since FNC came out so i'm rusty as f and having a blast.

Frustration for me is what I perceive as a complete lack of effort on EA's part. Some of those models were dreadful from what I saw, it shouldn't take some sort of outrage from people on the beta to change a Donald Cerrone model that he's had for years lol. Add in the current Stamina issues that seem to exist and I have no interest in giving them my money right now. I used to buy fifa every year too, but I haven't bothered with the last 3 editions. I'm more than happy to do the same here when I disagree with decisions they've made.

And I'm in complete agreement with you. Hilarious seeing how many people have been gifted UFC on release date lmao. Some of you just can't help yourself.

I have a Universe that I devoted a good amount of time into, and will be using that to keep UFC 3 interesting until UFC 5, at which point I will reevaluate the direction that this series is headed.

Re: Dev question: I still want to know who asked for this?...

So I’ve had a lot of complaints about this franchise. I pretty much have the opposite opinion of 99% of the people here about UFC 3. I think that after the first few patches the game was great and then got significant worse due to a few key things that got changes regarding counter fighting. I still put tons of hours into it and ultimately at the end of the day to me it wasn’t fun or fulfilling to play AT ALL.

Fast forward to the UFC 4 beta and I was pretty livid. The things I hated about UFC 3 seemed to have been amplified. I vowed to not buy the game. Fast forward to the EA Access trial and something interesting happened. I was having fun. ALOT of fun. I’ve never lost at anything more, but it’s fun. Whereas UFC was basically just a kickboxer game with extremely unsatisfying kickboxing mechanics, this game just got plays a lot better to me. I was enjoying myself. The issues that I had weren’t getting in the way of me having fun. So I made a decision to buy the game for $48. I don’t regret my purchase, and the more I play the more I enjoy it. Sure there are some gameplay issues (that I’m sure will be addressed), but if you accept it for what it is there’s a lot of fun to be had. The days of me coming on here and ranting about what would amount to a complete overhaul of the entire game are over. That **** is never gonna happen and there’s like 2 other people here who even want that.

There’s plenty of people on here who’s issues absolutely make NOT buying the game the smartest choice. I like the game. I don’t hate it like I did UFC 3. I’m sure I’ll get some **** from people on Here but I’m not gonna not buy a game I actually enjoy and have learned to accept it for what it is.
