Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
Tons of flash KO's. In fact, I'm not sure that I've had a fight not end in one so far (out of maybe 10 games played).
Although, it is the LHW division. I'm expecting to see less of that in the lighter weights (and I'll be playing LW mostly when the game is released).
So far though, this is amazing. The depth is unbelievable. Just look at the controls in the pause menu. There are tons of pages of controls - every position has different controls.
The ground game is hard. Chuck constantly was able to push me off - that's something I think people will really have to work on to get good at. The stand up game is fairly easy, but really quite fun. I like how it all works.Comment

It's dang near impossible to tap out the computer on anything but beginner. I made Chuck work for 3 solid rounds, trying to sub him about twice, sometimes 4 times a round, and was never able to get anything despite having next to empty stamina bar (turned it on in options). He'd roll me right out of it with me doing work on the analog stick..Comment

I actually like the sound of that. I'd hate it if subs were easy to pull off. I think I'll probably be spending a lot of time working on my ground game.Comment

Shogun made me tap in the first round of my very first fight. In my second fight, I dominated and won with a spinning backfist in the second round. Time to up the difficulty.Comment

My only problem is when the ref stops the fight or is telling the men to stand up, he doesn't even come in between the fighters. Sometimes I don't even know I've won until they force me to stop moving.Comment

It's way too easy to counter into a clinch with the right stick up or down. It shouldn't be guaranteed that you go directly into a clinch when you do that. It gets especially annoying when you play against the reversal happy SD vs RAW players. They don't ever block or try to get any offense of their own, they just set there countering into a clinch, and then get out of the clinch.Comment

Doesn't help. As long as you press the stick up for a high strike or down for a low strike even remotely close to when the strike lands, you'll counter it into a clinch. You don't even have to be skilled to do it because there's only 2 possible strikes directions to guess.Comment

This game is the real deal though...I need to learn submissions more on the higher levels, but I don't think either guy would easily get a submission in real life, so that's obviously tougher.Last edited by mgoblue; 04-19-2009, 12:21 AM.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I've been playing on the second difficult level (experienced, I think).
Generally I wear Liddell out and then take him out in the 3rd.
What I've been having fun doing is since I suck at the ground game (I'll get to full mount - and then Liddell just reverses it every time to full mount), I've just been throwing body kicks to the right ribs... Then when I take him down, I land shots to the right ribs (with a few shots to the face mixed it)... Then I switch to side mount when I can and power knee him in the right ribs...
The last fight I had - he had massive bruising there, it was bright red and looked like I'd absolutely been killing him there.
Finally beat him when I got him to the ground and just unloaded on that side again, and then dropped some shots to the face.
It's really awesome seeing the effect of your targeting a location, and it's awesome actually having that part get weaker and easier to stun the person by.
No decisions yet, which is a little disappointing. It seems by the 3rd round both fighters are just too easy to knock out.Comment

I think I'm the only one who has seen a decision. I just did it with Rua (lost 29-28). Its harder with Chuck because his offense is just throwing bombs but with Rua take downs and clinches seem to take up enough time to get to a decision if you defend yourself.Comment

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions
I had one with Rua where I won 29-28 but it was tough just because I was kinda sucking on the ground, but it'd take up time. It's tough to just throw bombs with Chuck because it'll end faster (like tonight lol). I think Chuck is just tough to fight on the ground.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment
