I know the button movements with the right stick. Against another person it is a entirely different story. I can maintain position, move and get a better position etc. But against the CPU (On experienced). They just do the moves to perfect and perfect timing.

I mean changing position is not that difficult. Straight down, left, right, or up for a minor transition. Slightly either down right, down left, up right, up left, for a major transition. Try do that as the CPU just button mashes you. They throw nonstop on the bottom so changing positions becomes almost impossible. Then how in the world do they manage to push off so easy.

I mean Rua is a beast on the ground and that is not chucks strong suit (once on back). I mean he has great take down defense, but once he s on his back, he should struggle to get Rua off. In the game this is not the case. He just pushes you off with his legs like you are a 7 year old.

My only complaint so far. Against a human is where i think this game will shine. I am not feeling the CPU. It is darn near impossible to submit chuck on anything higher than beginner.
Mike Goldberg pointed this out last night (I'm paraphrasing here): "On average, Chuck spends only 13 seconds on his back when taken down."

So, it actually sounds like the game did a fairly accurate job portraying the fact that A) Chuck is hard to take down and B) it's hard to keep Chuck down once you get him there.

Obviously, if the submission attempts are still a struggle with every fighter, then it's an issue but with the 2 guys you have at your disposal, I'd say it sounds about right.

You can put it on 2 players and control both to figure stuff out right?

Great point. I just dont want to see me struggling to submit someone like Houston Alexander or even Brock.

Yeah...I am a person who loves submissions, so I'm just trying to use them and it's tough. I think it'll be fine in the actual game with other fighters.

What's great about this game is that on Experienced (I haven't gone higher yet) it's never unfair. It's not like Smackdown vs. Raw where on the high levels there's tons of reversals and it just stops being fun. Sure, I'll get caught with a shot and knocked out, that's MMA. I haven't gotten frustrated, even when I lose, and that's great.

Nothing better than catching Chuck with a flying knee and watching that mouthpiece go flying.

Exchanging transitions on the ground is so fun. Rolling from Open Guard to Full Mount or Rubber Guard to Full Mount always makes for exciting moments. Or executing a great recovery with a submission attempt. I can't wait to see all the other fighters and their signature moves.

Re: UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Impressions

I got to say I am getting better at the game and understanding the way it is supposed to work. I am having a much easier time on the ground. I can apply rubber guard when almost needed, I can move around when in a dominate position now, I can maintain control on the ground.

Here is some tips for guys trying to learn Rua and the ground game.

              1) Once you land in guard with a dominate position, start raining down some hammer fist to soft chuck up. He won't be able to kick you off as easy. When you are prepared to try for the transition, instantly after raining down some fist. You should be able to pass.

              2) If you land with chuck in your guard. Hold LB and roll the right stick like a major transition (Down left roll to the right). You will see Rua transition into rubber guard. Once there do like above, start landing some shots from the bottom and attempt same move again to transition to behind chuck. From there you can go for the submission or transition again and take the back.

              3) Remember anytime you think they are going for a sweep to hold back on the right stick. You will attempt to stop the transition.

              4) In the unlucky chance that Chuck gets the mount on you. You better cover up and attempt the Right Stick button to go for a triangle or arm triangle. If not you can attempt to pull chucks head back down with a minor transition rotation.

              5) I have zero tips for submissions. I have still yet to submit either one. Both counter and slip out every time. Even 3rd round beat downs with the opponent exhausted and they manage to get out every time. I hope this is just the fighters and not how hard it really is.

              Fighters Ratings

              RUA
              Strength - 57
              Speed - 57
              Cardio - 48

              Standing Strike Offense - 57
              Standing Strike Defense - 50

              Standing Kick Offense - 82
              Standing kick Defense - 70

              Clinch Offense - 81
              Clinch Defense - 70

              Ground Offense - 74
              Ground Defense - 63

              Chuck
              Strength - 87
              Speed - 60
              Cardio - 58

              Standing Strike Offense - 82
              Standing Strike Defense - 80

              Standing Kick Offense - 72
              Standing kick Defense - 85

              Clinch Offense - 61
              Clinch Defense - 80

              Ground Offense - 57
              Ground Defense - 65

By looking at the ratings you can see that Chuck is a much better striker (Duhhh). Much more power, better speed and Cardio. His standing Defense is solid on everything from striking, kicks, to clinch. In the 80s on all. But the kind of red flag to me so far is his Ground Defense is weak at a 65, with Rua holding a good offense ground rating of 74. So while most everything on the mat plays out pretty darn good. I hope to see a submission offense and Defense rating. That would be key.

I do gotta say the detail is insane. Chuck even has his painted toes lol. This is going to be a blast for some OS leagues!!!!!!!

OMG I just had the sickest looking knock out with Chuck. I did the step back jab, where he lungs forward with the big left. It landed flush on the button and I was already loading up for the big over hand right. It went into the black and white mode when the first shot landed then the big over hand came right over with perfect connection on a stunned Rua. Folded him to the mat. It was soooo smooth. I am learning it, studying my *** off. Be scared guys Brandon Vera will be coming for yall

Holy crap, Rua took me down. Landed in my guard, passed to half guard. I managed to get him back into my guard. He passed into side control. Landed some shots, started dragging me near the cage. Passed to north and south, passed back into side control. The mounted me. I was defending my heart out, pulling his head down everytime he postured up. He start hitting me with some hammer fist before i could get him back in again, out of no where he goes for a kamora. I hear rogan say "He got it, he got it". Horn goes off...........wheuuuuuuuuuuu saved by the bell.

Edit: Darn 3rd round Rua caught me with me a triangle and I tapped out LOL

I have moved up to ADVANCED. I won my first match with Chuck. What a friggin battle. I now know the ground game so I can hold my own. it was a battle of position back and forth with Rua maintaining control with me struggling to keep him in the guard. I managed to finially work back to my feet. Being on the bottom in the hard levels you can see fatigue much more. Chuck got up breathing out his mouth, hands down by his side. I retreated forcing Rua to follow me and eat some blows coming in. He manages to eat some shots coming in and shoot and take me down again. I managed to reverse one of his pass attempts and end up in Rua's guard. I did Chuck sig move from the full guard where he picks the guy up then slams him on his back. I start raining down his sig hammer punches from his guard. Rua is hurt, I pick him up again and slam him. More ground and pound. Rua manages to flip me and scramble to his feet. Rua was exhausted moving extremely slow around the ring. I rushed in with Chuck, then using only the light quick combos, started doing the Sig Chuck and just unloading with left, rights. I mixed in some uppercuts, got him against the cage, a big left comes in and puts Rua out.

                        Chuck (me) Win
                        vs
                        Rua

                        Round 2 with 1:30 left.

I know one area to be worked on next year with this game. We need more cage play, pushing people against the cage, having the cage matter in the ground game, etc. I would think it is the ONLY area of the sport that is not in the game.

Shogun got robbed in terms of his phyiscal attributes.

I really wish I could get this demo. Alas, I'm on PS3.

Hopefully the attributes can be custom edited, i feel some of Chuck's ratings are a bit high, and some of Rua's are a bit too slow.

Although they did probably rate shogun on his performance against forrest and then taking 3 rounds to finish marc coleman who was almost like a corpse he was so gassed after 2 minutes in their fight.

So i doubt they rated pride shogun...shogun looked fit and quick last night, maybe hes back on form again.

Personally I am really Digging this game, It is awesome.

I am struggling a bit with the ground game but I am getting better. I really hope the other Practice option is like a sparring match with another opponent. It would be really cool if the Trainers are telling you what to do which would also show up on the screen as which way to move the R Button to get into better position.
