The UFC isnt getting much backlash about the 4 month waiver for Brock other than from sites like Bloody Elbow. Most people dont really care because they know the circumstances behind it. This isnt like they are allowing Brock to skip testing while he's signed to the UFC. Also its not like this exception is something that the UFC just put this into place. Its been there since the beginning.
There was no way for Brock to fight at 200 if the 4 month rule stayed in place for him and if he doesnt fight at UFC 200, he doesn't fight again until after Wrestlemania (April 2017). The language in the policy says:
An exemption may be given, at the UFC’s discretion, “in exceptional circumstances or where the strict application of that rule would be manifestly unfair to an Athlete.”
I'd say delaying his return by a year would be manifestly unfair to Lesnar.
I say all this to say that they arent going to sacrifice Chad Mendes just because a few reporters are complaining about the exception. The process is simple. USADA does the testing and reports failures to the UFC. The UFC reports it to the media. USADA decides the punishment.
Plus have you seen Mendes? I as shocked about him popping for drugs as I was Gleison Tibau and by that I mean I wasnt shocked at all.
