Makes sense now why his stand up fell to pieces. Shame that had to happen to him in that spot.

Barao is another fighter unhappy with his pay. For his last fight he earned $22,000 ($11,000 base/$11,000 win bonus) which is pretty weak. Fortunately, he earned a performance bonus that night also, but that's besides the point.

"I'm very happy being an UFC champion. But i would like to improve my contract. Actually, an example: i know that Faber is a much older guy on the UFC, but he's not even the champion and has a much better purse than mine"

"It is what it is, we're working for it to improve. I hope that after this fight i can have a much better contract. I hope it improves everyday. This depends on the contract*, but i hope they remember that i saved an event"

"I prefer to rest a little more, but the UFC needed me, so I'm here to save the event. Unfortunately, Weidman got injured, so they called me and i accepted.
It's always good to fight in these big events, i was pretty happy"

O UFC é constantemente bombardeado de críticas por conta do quanto paga aos seus lutadores em bolsas. Principalmente na comparação com o boxe, as bolsas dos maiores nomes do MMA não chegam aos pés de astros com

He's completely right that he should be paid more but he shouldnt compare himself with Faber. Faber is one of the few lowerweight draws. Barao may get there one day but he's not there now. Still he needs to make more than 22k.

              Crazy.

Gerald Harris retires. MMA record of 22 wins, 5 loses. UFC record 3 wins 1 lost. Last fought in the UFC was at UFC 123 November 2010. Last pro fight was August 2013. He was one of those fighters who was good and had a lot of potential but because he didn't belong to a big well known camp to promote him, he got lost in the shuffle and fell through the UFC talent cracks. He is 34.

I wonder when he signed his contract. I couldn't find any info, so maybe he is still on a contract from the WEC? He has come from no where in the last 2 years, for non-hardcore people. He should make more, but he also signed the contract.

The UFC needs to put clauses that automatically kick in if the fighter reaches top 10, top 5, champ, etc. The UFC is holding guys to contracts though, but they also pay guys too much when they are over the hill or past their prime. They don't usually ask guys to take pay cuts.

The thing is the UFC usually negotiates with these guys once they hit a certain level. They did it for Bendo. Did it for Nate Diaz (even though he still isnt happy). Did it for Weidman. Did it for Cruz.

The issue is the UFC never does it on their own. They wait until the fighter complains or uses his manager to demand that the UFC renegotiates the deal. The reason they can do that is because there is no real threat that a fighter will leave the UFC.

Barao getting 22k is a shame for a guy who has headlined 3 UFC PPVs but where is he gonna go? History shows that the UFC will probably do right by him but they need to start being a bit proactive.

JDS would murder Arlovski and Ive been an Arlovski fan since I first saw him fight. I honestly dont see this working out well, he might come in and get a win but once they match him up with the top tier of the weight class hes gonna start another losing streak.

Arloski is a big name and still has some what of a draw power. So I fully expect Dana White to use him to headline some Fox cards and some Euro cards when they fight over seas. That is pretty much all he is good for at this stage of his career. Kind of like Frank Mir, he is a threat if you take him lightly but yet not enough of a threat to make a serious run at the title. Gate keeper role basically.

So yeah, let him fight Overeem, Roy Nelson, Mark Hunt, Big Foot and JDS. That would sale very well for a Fox and overseas card.
