Regarding some of his complaints, he makes 60k/60k which is well above most LWs in the UFC. Only Henderson, Pettis, Sanchez and Melendez make more than him in the division. He's just heated because Gil just hit the jackpot when he signed his new deal. Pettis and Henderson are champs. Sanchez is the only one he could even partially complain about but Sanchez only makes about 10k more than him.

Salary negotiations are about leverage. He couldve done what Gil did a while back in threaten to sign with Bellator. He didnt. He couldve won the belt off Ben and increased his pay. He didnt. He's getting paid what the market at the time he signed the deal set and thats on him.
Agreed. I can't stand the Diaz brothers. I think 60k/60k is plenty for him. Almost too much lol but that's because I am biased and really don't like him. I know some people love him and the whole "bad boy" thing but I think he's obnoxious. I hate when fighters taunt and do that crap in the ring. I hate when anyone does it. I thought it was hilarious that Silva got knocked out while messing around with Weidman. And I seriously hate how he is somehow always in title talks. He lost a unanimous decision to Henderson and then get knocked out by Thomson. Beating a semi washed up Maynard after two consecutive losses definitely doesn't warrant a title shot.

I think cutting Shields was a great move. He was one of the most boring fighters in the UFC, he was far from a fan favorite and his salary was on the higher side. This guy was never going to win a title in the UFC. The whole marijuana thing didn't help his cause either.

I don't think anyone is saying Diaz deserves a title shot. It's good that you admit that you're biased though lol

Ahem......for 2013, here are the salaries.

VERY LONG List in the spoilers, 400 something on there. But as you can see in the list, Nate Diaz only made $95,000 in 2013. The following lightweights made more then Nate Diaz last year:

          K.J. Noons - $123,000
          James Krause - $118,000

Some additional salaries of note of last year:

          Michael Bisping - $700,000
          Mark Hunt - $680,000

          Thiago Silva - $306,000
          Tyron Woodley - $280,000
          Daniel Cormier - #252,000
          Johnny Hendricks - $250,000

            Re: OS MMA Random Thread

Numbers will be skewed since Nate only fought twice in 2013, twice in 2012, four times in 2011 and three in 2010

            2013: $95,000
            2012: $215,000
            2011: $364,000
            2010: $192,000

$866,000 in four years after 11 fights

At some point, it would be interesting to see a four-year breakdown of other lightweights. Too lazy right now.

              Far as last year:

              James Krause had 3 fights
              K.J. Noons had 3 fights
              TJ Grant had 2 fights
              Melvin Guillard had 2 fights
              Sam Stout had 3 fights
              Edson Barboza had 3 fights
              Jim Miller had 2 fights
              Anthony Pettis had 2 fights
              Jorge Masvidal had 3 fights
              Gleison Tibau had 4 fights
              Diego Sanchez had 2 fights
              Donald Cerrone had 4 fights
              Ben Henderson had 2 fights
              Gilbert Melendez had 2 fights

              Now since 2010 -

Gilbert Melendez - 6 fights, only 2 in the UFC
Ben Henderson - 12 fights, only 9 in the UFC
Donald Cerrone - 15 fights, only 12 in the UFC
              Diego Sanchez - 7 fights
              Gleison Tibau - 11 fights
Jorge Masvidal - 10 fights, only 3 in the UFC
Anthony Pettis - 9 fights, only 5 in the UFC
              Jim Miller - 11 fights
Edson Barboza - 11 fights, only 8 in the UFC
              Sam Stout - 10 fights
              Melvin Guillard - 13 fights
              TJ Grant - 8 fights
K.J. Noons - 10 fights, only 2 in the UFC
James Krause - 12 fights, only 2 in the UFC

So as you can see, Melvin had the most fights with 13 in the UFC, followed by Cowboy and Ben Henderson with 12 in the UFC.

Nate Diaz has had 11 fights since 2010.

Ahem.....thats not per fight and includes bonus monety. Also the numbers you quote are Nate made 95k because he only fought twice. The people that made more money than his current 60/60 all either fought more than twice or won bonuses. His new deal kicked after the Maynard fight. He admits himself he makes 60/60 which again is more than most in the UFC LW division.

I get it....you like Nate. I like Nate too but I dont ignore his record. He's 4-4 in his last 8. He was a bit unlucky because he was fighting under his Ultimate Fighter deal for the first 8-10 fights with the UFC (same thing happened to Roy Nelson). When the time came for him to make real money he signed a deal and immediately loss to Hendo and Thomson.

If he wants more money....fight more. He was offered Khabib at his 60/60 rate and he turned it down complaining that he was going to "wait for a title shot". Who does that sound like? Nick. Its a Diaz trait. He could beat Khabib and maybe 1 more and he's getting a title shot. Pettis wants to fight him and its an easy sell.

It makes more sense to include bonus money to get a better context of what everyone's making and if the fighter earned a bonus then so be it. I wanted to know all of Nate's bonus money as well.

Again, can you post the details of Nate's contract? When you say he was offered Khabib at the 60 rate, I'd like to get a link also to see how many fights he has left on his current deal.

Seems like he's made some decent money over the past 4 years but like I said, it'd be nice to compare his numbers to other lightweights over the same span. Bonus money and all, so we can truly see how Nate's money stacks up.

Most of the info is in Nates rant. It is an 8 fight deal with elevators. He got 30/30 for the first 2 fights under the deal. It moves to 60/60 after the first 2. If he wins the belt, he gets another raise. He has 6 fights left.

Bonuses arent a fair barometer because they are completely subjective. When he complains about pay, he only cares about his guarantee. Hes complaining about the money he is guaranteed.

GMSS showed James Krause's payouts in 2013 as way to show how Nate is underpaid. Well Krause fought 2 times in 2013 (not 3) and went 1-1 but he earned 100k in bonuses at 161.

I never said it was per a fight, I simply posted what everybody made last year. If I really liked the Diaz brothers so much, I would have just posted the top earners in the UFC, then skipped immediately to the Diaz brothers instead posting the entire UFC roster salary in the spoilers.

What was ur point then? No one was asking how much other fighters made. Your original post was in response to me saying that Diaz was one of the highest paid lw fighters in the UFC.

I actually did want to know what other lightweights were making, bonuses and all.

Everyone knows Diaz doesn't deserve a title shot.
They have all the relevance in the world hahaha. I responded directly to two of aholberts posts. And I was hardly "bashing" him. More like stating that I don't care for him and his antics because he was the topic of discussion. It's my opinion, just as you are entitled to your opinions.
