thinking more about the lawsuit against UFC and the allegations they have monopolizied the MMA market which i think is a bunch of bull because PRIDE and Strikeforce were struggling to stay afloat, there are plenty of competition out there Bellator, WSOF, Titan FC and several smaller promotions that air on axs tv and NBC and CBS sports

Steven Morrocco's Twitter profile.
If you don't know who he is, he is a writer/staff member for MMAjunkie and also writes for USA Today.
I could have sworn I saw an article on the site. Maybe it got taken down, I don't know.

1 of 2 things I would think ... Rashad fight or RampageComment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Bellator is already claiming they still have him under contract so this is going to turn into the Eddie Alvarez situation all over again. Difference here is I dont really care if Rampage is shelved for a year. There arent a ton of fights that I want to see him in at the moment.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Some people joking that the UFC will purposely lose this in court to help their monopoly lawsuit.
This just shows the UFC is getting desperate. CM Punk, Rampage are just names that have no chance to compete in the UFC. Rampage was exciting, but really he has just been going out there for a paycheck for 3-4 years.

If anything signing Rampage hurts their defense because the main argument in the lawsuit is that UFC uses illegal practices to maintain its control of professional MMA. Signing a fighter under contract with a rival organization is an example of that.
Why desperate though? Rampage is a top 15 LHW and a name. Why wouldnt they sign him if he was available? The only reason they let him go in the first place was because he wanted out of the UFC.
I have no issue with Zuffa doing whatever it can to bring mainstream attention to the sport. ****, its not like Rampage or Punk are getting title shots. MMA fans treat the sport like its some underground band that only they know about. I want the sport to grow in popularity. The way to do that is through personalities and Punk and Rampage are both personalities.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Some of you guys act like Rampage isn't a top 15 LHW anymore. You guys are in for a rude awakening.
That said, I think his first opponent will be Maldonado or OSP. I think he'll win by KO regardless of which one he takes.
He may be past his prime, but he obviously still has some left in the tank. Just because he signed doesn't mean he's going for the belt.

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Rampage signing with the UFC is interesting. You'd have to think his lawyers and the UFC were able to get him out of the Bellator deal before signing with the UFC. I just can't see the UFC advertising Rampage on TV like that if he really were under contract with another organization.
I'm a Rampage fan; he can still sell a fight better than a majority of the current roster. I wonder if he'll fight a few HW fights this time? I could see a Rampage-Anderson Silva fight down the road.Currently Playing:

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
I agree, he does nothing other than try to punch. He gave up on his wrestling and wanted to be a striker, the problem is that he can't be a striker at his age and slow speed. If he didn't give up on wrestling, he probably would still be a top 10 fighter and with the weak 205 division, he probably make his way to top 5 and maybe get a title shot with injuries.Comment

Re: OS MMA Random Thread
Feijao? He's ranked 12.
Fabio Maldanado? He's ranked 13.
I'd argue Rampage could beat Shogun right now and he's ranked 14.
Rampage would lose to anyone in the top 7 but is that a reason to keep him out of the UFC? I'm all about having the best fighters in the world in the same place so they can fight each other.
Rampage is on a three fight winning streak with two of those wins over former Zuffa fighters (even though I thought he lost to King Mo). In the worldwide MMA rankings, he's ranked 13. If he's available, I see nothing wrong with Zuffa signing him.Comment
