Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
You don't get unique moves, but you do unlock the better moves as you complete tasks in the camp. For example, it took me three camp sessions to get my judo up to level 2, which unlocked the strong throws in the over/under clinch (as well as some bonuses to relevant skills). Three camps later and I got my judo up to level 3, which unlocked the rest of the unique judo moves including the sweep from full guard and the escape from mount.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
On the demo when you knock someone out that's kind of it .. The guy just falls over and the fighter who knocked him out sits back and watches it happen.
In real MMA that's rare it happens and the winning fighter will often pounce with a few more shots, to make sure the guy is out, before he is thrown off by the ref ... Does that happen in this game?
Also, when the ref breaks it up to say the guy has tapped/been knocked out does he actually aggressively remove the winning fighter from his downed opponent, or does he just kind of tap him passively on the shoulder like it seems to be in the demo?Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Can someone confirm/elaborate on the replay system? Can you just replay the last 10-15 seconds of action like most sports games, or can you rewind the whole match? Is there a wrap-up kind of thing afterwards where you can see moments from the fight (not just the greyed-out highlights they had in the demo where you choose rematch/quit)?
I'm mainly wondering about this to ensure that I can take pictures/vids of big finishes after the fight is over so I don't have to pause the game or something. If it only has the last 15 seconds, I guess that would cover most finishes, but it's always nice to see how the fight got to that point, etc. -- I'd like to do highlights from each round and then the finish for videos in the league.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Me,personally I'm not a big fan of the midnight release. I liked it a whole lot better when they'd call you the day before the game came out and told you to come and pick it up.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
I don't think there is a replay system other than what you saw in the demo. I haven't seen one at least. Granted, I haven't been looking for one, but it's not like it's something they'd hide.
In my career matches so far, the only option I've seen after a fight is to hit A to finish.
If you want to edit stuff, I'm pretty sure you're gonna have to capture the fight as it happens.Comment

There is no replay system.
The only replays are between rounds and after the fight...just like the demo.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Quick impressions:
I had to fight my first fight with Rampage (my favorite fighter) against Keith Jardine. The only thing missing was Jardine's monkey fighting stance but everything else is spot on. He threw a ton of leg kicks and did not attempt to take me down. I couldnt beat him on his feet because his leg kicks and length so I started to use Ramp's wrestling and ground and pounded him. I won in the 2nd round with an right hook.
Ive fought 3 fights an all three were different Machida fights different from Jardine who fights different than Bonner.
This game makes me wish I still wrote reviews for OS. I could write 2000 words about thois game. I'm as big of a UFC fan as you will find. I've played every MMA game in existence including every other crappy UFC game created. This is by far the greatest MMA game ever. Its also arguably better than most sports fighting games including boxing Ive played.
Whats funny is the game has a ton to build on. There are only 4 venues. The career mode is a bit short. PPV modes could be added. Some fighters are missing. No cage interaction. No leg kick checks. Even with that missing, I will be playing this for the next year.Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Wow, that's a disappointment. Seems crazy in this day and age to not have some kind of replay mode for a sports game... just like Madden having the single camera for years... it's like, "really guys, you couldn't put this in?"Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions
Fighting Machida is great. He's constantly backing away, stepping back to avoid strikes, throwing counters, and circling to avoid getting trapped by the cage.
That's one of the things that really impressed me. Yuke's could have gotten away with having everyone fight the same. A very small minority would have been certainly annoyed, but most people wouldn't have noticed or cared. But they really put some work into getting fighters to fight like they would. Machida is a defensive beast, guys like Sherk will smother you with takedown attempts, etc.
The stuff like a deeper career mode and whatnot, that stuff's easy. They just need more time to build on it. But the hard stuff, the gameplay, they nailed right out of the gate. There's certainly some room for improvement, but with how well they've already done, I've got absolutely no reservations in trusting them to improve the game.Comment

That's crazy they left it out, but not a huge deal. Hopefully in the next one.Comment
