Re: Official UFC Undisputed 2009 Impressions

Yeah it just makes making videos and recaps very difficult becauase you just have that crappy greyed-out highlight package (wish they would let you view that in full color without the menu screen in the way at the very least) or you have to be recording everything constantly. I can normally grab my camera and get it going with enough time to get the KO replay, but that's a pain in the ***.

Replay modes make it so much better... but ah well, I'll live. I'll just definitely have to remember to capture my matches for the league so I can make my own highlight packages though. That kind of stuff adds so much to leagues.

Low block does the job - just thought I'd point that out.

That is a let down. With most of the sports games having this type of feature in there, you'd think this game would follow. It helps leagues and just adds a nice flavor to everything. Sucks.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Are you sure? Some poster on here was pretty sure they didn't work.

150% sure that low block is the leg check. It does not LOOK like a leg check, he basically still takes the shot.....But that pause you get from getting caught with a leg kick does not happen, so if u block low they won't be able to leg kick you then throw a flurry of combos while u are stunned.

That's one of the things that really impressed me. Yuke's could have gotten away with having everyone fight the same. A very small minority would have been certainly annoyed, but most people wouldn't have noticed or cared. But they really put some work into getting fighters to fight like they would. Machida is a defensive beast, guys like Sherk will smother you with takedown attempts, etc.

The stuff like a deeper career mode and whatnot, that stuff's easy. They just need more time to build on it. But the hard stuff, the gameplay, they nailed right out of the gate. There's certainly some room for improvement, but with how well they've already done, I've got absolutely no reservations in trusting them to improve the game.

this is good to hear - it was my biggest concern that all the strikers would fight the same and all the grapplers would be like Rua and the never ending takedown attempts. Are you finding that they are all a little different?? Also have you fought any one who has a balance of stand up/ take down attempts who isn't hell bent on standing or getting to the ground??

                      Agreed...

Midnight release on a work night... yay ...

Let me come in after store hours (around 8pm) the night before release to pick it up. Now that would make me happy and more likely to reserve games in the future... Gamestop could also save on payroll hours... <O</O

I wanted to see if it was easier to submit the CPU in the retail version and I think it is. I probably played the demo over 100 times and was never able to submit Chuck on Advanced (I know its pathetic). So I took Florian against the lowest rated LW (Bocek) and was able to submit him by rear naked choke in the 2nd. I took Leites and beat Kampmann with a kimora.

agreed 100 percent....after the game came out, all i did was PM people on here and even requested a video on a FRENCH gaming website to have this guy play against machida on expert. ( yes this game has made me an obsessed deranged maniac)
And the video was really telling on how different and unique machida fights. That really made me happy.

Since we know fighters will fight differently, I'm gonna check a step higher tonite when I get the game. Will the same cpu controlled fighter fight you different when u are using a different character. I'm gonna test Rua tonite. In the demo, when I use Liddell ( heavy puncher, overall good strikes offense) Rua tried to take him down a lot. Tonite , i wanna see, if say ,I pick a submissions guy like Wilson Gouveia, will Rua change his strategy and wanna stand up more or will his strategy be more or less the same.

Good test to do for you A.I freaks like me. If Rua in the game agaisnt Gouveia clearly has a different strategy than when he fights a user controlled Lidell, I will be ecstatic. Maybe too much too ask, but hey, we can get greedy right ? The game already has exceeded my expectations by a mile, another 50 yards ain't too much to ask.

it could just be the ratings you know.....it is the lowest rated LW after all.

The only sure fire way to find out is if you play matches of liddell vs rua...but after the demo, I'm sure no one wants to do that hehe.

But it is very good news that you were able to do a submission.

by the way, great impressions on the page before, gonna make this 8hour wait unbearable.

it could be a fluke though since each fighter doesn't fight the same even against the same fighter each time. That's why the outcomes are so different. I had a 5 round unanamous decision against rich franklin defending my title, even though the time before I knocked him out easily. This time he was way more aggressive and smothering me, not giving me space.
