If Forrest had taken a beating and had lost hearing in his ear...then any sane person would get checked for brain damage as soon as possible.

Re: UFC 101: Declaration - August 8th in Philadelphia
There's some speculation that Silva might be considering giving up the MW title and fighting at 205.
http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news;_yl...yhoo&type=lgns
Who is there at 185 to challenge him?
Granted, Forrest isn't the most skilled fighter - but the man has heart like no other, and he humiliated him... I think he could tear the 205 division apart - and there are a ton of great fighters at that weight. Why not move up and take a whole new challenge? Rampage, Evans, Rua, Ortiz... He could really have some great fights against some great fighters. There's no one left at MW for him to fight; so it seems pointless to stay there.
Even if he doesn't want to challenge for the belt against Machida, at least move up and just fight in the class to test yourself.Comment

They need to let this matchup happen. Silva vs. GSP would definitely be the biggest fight in MMA history. Silva can dismantle another opponent, earn a nice check, and ride off into the sunset.Comment

Re: UFC 101: Declaration - August 8th in Philadelphia
on to anderson,
fighting him is like a curse for most people, forrest ...ugh..it was just so frustrating to watch. Whatever weight class he's fighting in next, please just put him in there against someone with a chin.
aholbert32, you were saying earlier that ervin got tko'd w/ a similar punch - but he kind of looked like he quit. There's no doubt about it that anderson hits hard, but he doesn't hit THAT hard. Forrest looked like he quit too (maybe because of his mangled jaw and lack of hearing). any proffessional fighter should be able to absord the final punch forrest took. There is NO DOUBT in my mind that bjPenn could have taken that punch as a LW. Before he even got hit, he looked really bad, and not like someone trying to win a FIGHT.
I kind of wish rampage didn't fight jardine and get injured so he could have fought anderson. Shogun Rua might be a good matchup too at lhw. Otherwise henderson and marquardt deserve another kick at the can.
Just for the record...i know it probably sounds like I'm dumping on Silva - it's not his fault...but his fights are kind of crappy because most of his oppenents mind eff themselves before the fight even starts and it leads to bad performances on their part.
think about it...how can what's his name lutters mount silva, but forrest gets dropped 3 times in a couple of minutes.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

I'll have to watch the Forrest Griffin fight again last night, but I think the dude knew he was finished. Whether he hung it up early or not, it wouldn't have lasted much longer.Comment

Re: UFC 101: Declaration - August 8th in Philadelphia
Last night Anderson's trainer proposed to Dana for him to stay in the 205 division and vacate his 185 belt.
Silva said he also does not want to fight Machida as they are best friends. Dana said he was still going to try and make it happen.
With this scenerio I see the following:
GSP moving to the 185 division.
Anderson eventually fighting Machida in the 205 division.
If GSP moves out of the 170 division then I can see BJ eventually move back to take that over before retirement. That would leave Sanchez to fight Kenny for the title.Comment

Re: UFC 101: Declaration - August 8th in Philadelphia
The main events really saved this card. Anderson looked great, and after this I really don't have any interest in a GSP-Anderson fight. Anderson is just too big and strong for GSP. I mean Henderson taking down Silva is a lot different than GSP taking down Silva. Plus with his size and reach advantage I don't see GSP getting inside on Silva.
Penn looked awesome. It seemed like he wasn't really trying until he hit the 4th round and really poured it on. Just shows you that a motivated BJ Penn at 155 is a class above. I just hope that he sticks around at 155 and doesn't think he can take GSP for the 3rd time...Comment

I'll say that I was (and everyone in the bar were) pissed at Forrest for giving up and running. Now that I know his jaw was seriously jacked and he couldn't hear out of one ear I'll cut him some slack....Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: UFC 101: Declaration - August 8th in Philadelphia
don't see what was so bad about Forest game plan. He went out there and went after Silva which is something his last 2 fighters didn't do. He got caught and beat by someone who is just much better than everyone else. Silva hasn't even been close to loosing a match in the UFC.My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx

Re: UFC 101: Declaration - August 8th in Philadelphia
Was there last night. The card sucked bad up until the final two fights. I was at UFC 100 too and nothing was as loud as the fans for Forrest. You couldn't even hear his song playing.
The last two fights were awesome. I'm happy that I got to see Anderson and BJ fight in person. I thought it was awesome when Anderson was telling Forrest to bring it. That fight was sick because I actually thought Forrest was gonna do it.
BTW, there was a big fight or something in the stands during the Shane Nelson fight. Did anyone figure out what was happening because everyone was looking in that direction. Even Rogan turned around to see what was going on.Last edited by DueceDiggla; 08-09-2009, 09:00 PM.Comment

Re: UFC 101: Declaration - August 8th in Philadelphia
Why is everyone knocking the fight card?
I thought the Neer-Pellegrino fight was great. Pellegrino won decidedly, but it was a hard fought match on both ends. Neer worked very well on his back the entire fight, and Pellegrino was just trying to beat the piss out of Neer the whole time.
Grove-Almeida wasn't bad either. I enjoyed it. Hell, Grove was very close on a submission attempt or two, but just couldn't finish it.
Sometimes I feel like people only love fight cards when they're full of KOs and subs.Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment

And what was with that thread saying Forrest's camp is denying the injury? I can't find anything on it, but I don't know of many good news sites.Originally posted by DaImmaculateONeHow many brothers does Sub-zero running around in his clothing? No one can seem to kill the right one.Comment

Also, Silva is leaving MW division and vacating his belt to fight 205 full time. should be interesting. (too lazy to post link)My Fan Page http://theusualgamer.net/MyFanPage_Heelfan71.aspx
