Vitor needed surgery. Chael's medical suspension wasn't up in time to train properly. Nate JUST lost to Chael. UFC still wanted Silva to fight on the 112 card.

    Leaving Maia.

I still dont know what to make of Carwin, he is heavy handed but he hasn't really been tested as much. We haven't seen enough of his game to know what he really has other than his hands.
ok, well I think Carwin is stronger and I think he hits harder and has better boxing. I would predict him beating Brock and I would also predict him beating Brock in an arm wrestle too.

I'm not sure how anyone can think Brock is a heavy favourite or anything like that - how has Brock been "tested"...Carwin has at least shown that he has will, heart and resolve by coming back against gonzaga (he was underneath a great bjj guy as well as being rocked).

I think Brock's advantages are his reach and his wrestling is probably better, but I don't see him man-handling Carwin at all.

Brock's gameplay will probably be ground and pound, Shane's will probably be both to box and ground and pound. Shane needs to work on takedown defence and improving ground grappling from the bottom to sweep or stand-up. Brock needs to work on his stand-up striking, sharpen his wrestling and learning more jiu jitsu wouldn't hurt either.

I'm picking Shane. To clarify what I was saying earlier I'll add that 'anything is possible' ...I just don't personally envision brock ko'ing shane...especially on the feet. If you guys think Brock will win, that's fine. I happen to think Shane will win via TKO in the 2nd round.

Brock has fought the better opponents. Mir twice, Herring & Couture. Carwin's toughest opponents are Mir & Gonzaga. Brock has showed he has heavy hands and some good standup as well as great wrestling while Carwin has just did it with heavy hands even though he has a wrestling background. They both weigh around the same and Brock is only an inch taller but he just looks like the bigger, stronger guy. I honestly see Brock taking Carwin to the ground, using his wrestling and trying to win with ground & pound. I see this fight going more than 1 round and Brock eventually winning via TKO due to strikes.

July 3rd its on, can't wait. On wikipedia for UFC 116 it says if Carwin isn't medically cleared that Cain Velasquez will fight Lesnar instead.

Both guys have cleaned out their respective divisions but just think about the fights we'd get to see if they both moved.
you really have no desire to see Silva fight GSP? You say you want them each to move up in weight class but why not have GSP fight Silva if he moves up and then after that have Silva move up? You talk about how each has cleaned out their weight class but you have no desire to see them fight each other? Seems strange.

Carwin is like a mini Brock, both in style and physically. Don't care what the numbers say...no way he's as big as him

IMO the 3 best fighters in the UFC (and 3 of the top 5 in the world) are BJ Penn, GSP, and Anderson Silva. I think undersized fighters can definitely beat heavier guys of lesser skill as evidenced by Minowaman's tear through the Super Hulks in Dream. When skill is very close I think the bigger guy has the advantage. GSP dominated BJ Penn and I think size had a lot to do with that. I'm not trying to say that BJ is better but I think they're both highly skilled and GSP had the advantage since he walks around a good 20-25 pounds heavier than BJ. I think the same thing would happen between Silva and GSP. On paper it's a hell of a fight but in reality I just think the bigger Silva would have a major advantage. I'd rather see Penn blaze through the WW division, GSP blaze through the MW division, and Silva blaze through the LHW division. The weird thing is Jason Amadi at MMA Torch wrote an article saying just that yesterday. http://www.mmatorch.com/artman2/publ...cle_4735.shtml

It's amazing how exciting the HW division is now.

More money trying to work your way back up for a 3rd Lesner fight. He's really only 2 wins away from it.

I think he's also just too big. He's not big enough (strong enough) for guys like Lesnar and Carwin who are at the very top of the chain, but he's too big to really drop down to LHW. He'd fit better in a class between LHW and HW, but I really couldn't see him making a healthy 205.

he doesnt seem to do well against heavy hitters and thats all that seems to be at the top of the HW class.

I think he could hang with Cain and Dos Santos. Its not like he has a glass jaw. He just keeps fighting wrestlers who can pin him against the cage and pound away. Junior and Cain arent the same size as Shane and Brock.

Also Mir is walking around at 250-255 now. Asking him to cut 50 pounds would be difficult especially for someone who has always been a HW.
