Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
Bloody hell that Howard KO was one of the most brutal I've ever seen. Seriously awful watching his eyes bounce around wide-open while he was already out and just getting hammered. I don't blame Howard a bit, but I am definitely in the Marquardt camp in that debate... fighters know when someone is DONE and that guy was D-O-N-E.
And the noise that Jon Jones' elbow made when he connected to Vera's dome was sickening. I wanted Rogan to ask him if his elbow hurt after that.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Bader is a step down for Bones...I say give him Forrest or possibly Liddell or Couture. Dude is legit though...he'll be fighting for the title soon very soon.
Like Machida he has a style that just throws people off and they can't deal with it.Patrick Mahomes > GodComment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
I disagree. Bader is a up and coming young gun and would be more of a challenge than Chuck would at this point. Forrest or Couture are decent opponents though. Couture is out because he is scheduled to face Franklin and Forrest has Little Nog lined up for May.Comment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
I loved the event last night. I hope they start putting on more shows on Versus. I'd love it to get to the point where the UFC does 1 Spike Live event, 1 Versus live event, and 1 PPV event a month so you get 3 live events, 3 different ways. I think they have a lot of stars on hand and i think last night showed that.
There are some great fights that can be made with some of those guys last night. And Jon Jones will be fighting for a title barring any upset in a year according to Dana. His throws are amazing, he is strong, he has great hands, great length, comes at weird angles, is fast, is athletic, to be totally honest i would love to see him fight Anderson Silva. My reason is because he reminds me of Anderson in a way just with how diverse he is although Anderson is the total package while Jones does have certain holes but he makes up for it with his other talents. I think that would be an entertaining fight to see Anderson fight him at 205 and since the only other appealing fight for Silva really is GSP, i wouldnt mind seeing Jones really step up in competition to see what he's got.
Why not? They've done it to other guys. Brock was forced to be tested right away when he got in the UFC. Rampage had 1 warmup before a gauntlet of top fighters (i know he was already established more but still). Vera was a step up for Jones, but he dominated that fight and we could see Vera is not on his level. he's ready to step up another level.
I can't wait for when he gets a little older and steps up to heavyweight. He's eventually going to be a heavyweight. With that length, athleticism, speed, and if he can keep getting stronger, he'll be a force.
Got the PPV this weekend, thank god for UFC this week and last to make up for that crapshow Pacquiao fight. Hopefully this ppv card isn't like the Couture-Coleman ppv and this one lives up to the billing.Comment

Jones-Mousasi is what I want to see. Winner gets Machida/Rua (whoever's champ at that point)...Last edited by Stumbleweed; 03-22-2010, 02:56 PM.Send your Midnight Release weirdo pics/videos to my new website: http://www.peopleofmidnightreleases.com!Comment

Brock's situation was different. He was a well known WWE star before he came to the UFC. Because of the amount the UFC was paying him, they didnt have the time to work him through the ranks slowly. You cant compare Jones to Rampage either. As you said Rampage was experienced and well known in MMA. Plus he beat Chuck in Pride giving the Main Event a storyline.Comment
