Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
I hate the rule banning 12 to 6 elbows for 2 reasons. First, the strike isn't any more brutal than others in MMA. Second, Joe Rogan goes on and on and on about these strikes whenever a fighter does anything close.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
I'm not trying to rain on anyone's parade AT ALL, but I feel as if UFC is trying to manufacture too much "hype" around Jones.
Even in the postfight questions, Rogan asked him about how Jones felt about all the "hype" and living up to it..
I found it all to be a turn off. Let the man breathe.
I understand why they would like to invest in Jones and his upside but it's just sort of gotten out of hand in my eyes.Comment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
That's an insane matchup. Despite two losses to Brown, Urijah is still easily one of the best fighters in that division. However, I feel like Aldo is on a mission right now. Urijah defeating him wouldn't shock me in the least bit, but I feel that it's his fight to lose.
Aldo is an incredible striker, but he also fights with intelligence. I thought that his pacing and strategy against Brown was great. He took his time, watched out for his power shots, and took him out when the opportunity presented itself. Aldo and Urijah both have very entertaining styles, I can't wait to see it go down. I don't know if Urijah has ever had to deal with someone who's faster than he is.Comment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
I remember the first fight of his that I seen against Stephen Bonnar and all I could say was "Wow". Plus he seems like a really nice, humble guy that knows he still has room to improve.
I love what he said last night about his potential and how he doesn't want to be the guy that never realizes his full potential.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Nah. The Hype is real. The guy has DESTROYED three legit UFC vets in Hammill, Bonner and Vera. People who do that deserve the hype they get.Comment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
I'd have to go with Aldo. He is one of the quickest strikers I have ever seen in MMA. His fight against Brown was something else to watch, just seeing how much quicker he was in landing shots than Brown. I can't wait for his fight against Faber.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
He's a ground and pound fighter. He strikes until he can close the distance, then he grapples and takes his opponent down and grounds and pounds. The UFC markets him as a big stand up guy, but he's not.Comment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
you made me think of this though - what about Rampage - Jones?
I wonder if Rua beats Machida (or gets credit for it at least) and gets the belt, maybe the UFC would consider doing a rubber match in the even that Rampage wins. In that scenario putting bones vs. ramp would make sense.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

Re: UFC on Versus - Vera vs Jones
why not? Lets say Rampage wins - why does rampage get a shot? He is has ****ed-off and hurt the UFC. IMO he's also on the downhill ride to retirement. He's become so much less dynamic and I really think Machida or Rua would embarass him a little bit.

People do this everytime after someone has a win and its happening again. The Vera win was impressive but lets get real. Other than his win over Mir years ago, his most impressive win was against Kristof Soszynski. He wasnt a top 5 LHW and was barely a top 10 one.
If I'm Ramp and the UFC doesnt give me a title shot after beating Evans, I'm retiring because thats politics keeping him from a shot. Let Jones beat a top 10 guy like a Griffin, Little Nog or Cane before we give him a shot against Machida.Comment
