He wouldnt have clowned him the entire fight if that was true.

I'm sure Dana is really pleased with Silva right now. He puts you headlining a huge card, and the first in the UAE, and all you do is dance around the ring like a clown.

      I don't get it.

Does he want to piss off Dana? Does he want to piss off the fans? It almost seems like it.

In regards to Silva showing off: "I don't know what got into me. I'm sorry."

It's called you being a douche. That's what got in the way.

He only wants to counter punch and is content waiting for it. ll his best KOs have been counterpunches except for the Franklin fight.

He reminds me alot of a prime Roy Jones Jr. Good and Bad.

Everybody agrees that Silva is easily one of the best fighters in the world, but now I think we can all agree on how disrespectful and unwatchable of a fighter he is as well. Waste of time, Maia showed nothing but respect and effort while Silva was playing air guitar and dancing and acting like an jackass....and then he decided to just do NOTHING for two and a half rounds....NOTHING.

How many times can Silva apologize before he realizes that it's not an apology we want, it's to stop what has you constantly giving them to us...

I wonder what happens at MW now. Sonnen and Belfort are still waiting for their shots, but with the superfight coming up it'll likely be next year when Silva fights at MW again.

I don't really have an interest in the Belfort fight since it will most likely be 25 minutes of dancing again, but someone like Sonnen should be able to push the pace more than Maia did and try and get Silva to dance backwards into the cage.

I have no problem with his fighting style. It works and smart. If he's technical about it, then go for it. That was in regards to him showboating.

I almost wonder if hes trying to skate by on these fights until his contract is up so he can retire. I know at one point it became big news that he was thinking of retiring once his contract was up so its not so illogical to think that hes just trying to finish it out so he can hang it up. Its probably not the case but I can also see someones argument for it as well.

At this point I dont know if I really wanna see Anderson fight for awhile. I would love to see Sonnen fight him as his wrestling background and exceptional cardio could spell doom as long as hes willing to step into the pocket and eat punches to get the takedown. I dont think Belfort has a shot merely because it will become a stand up fight and while Belfort has heavy hands and can throw punches in bunches, I think Silva's elusiveness will be the difference. Having said that, Silva is starting to drive me nuts when he fights as he just seems content to do the bare minimum to win a fight anymore.

Silva got hit pretty hard too with a good left from maia. I think he was slightly hurt from that.

Silva stinks when people don't rush him. He taunts and complains when you don't attack, but he himself rarely actually attacks. He's a counterpuncher who complains when the opponent wants to counter.

Much respect to Maia. That was a bad fight solely because of silva..good on the ref threatening a point, but that came too late. IMO you could have scored the last two rounds for maia - and to have a higher output than silva from pretty much a pure bjj fighter is shameful.

Silva looks great when people are overly aggressive and rush him, or get flustered by his danciing and aquiese to losing.

If gsp was in there tonight and silva fought the same way, Silva would have lost badly.

andeson is a p4p great, but only when he's fighting someone pressing the action forcing him to counter and sway and take advantage of opening.

I don't think anyone can manufacture and excuse for him as to why he didn't exchange with a non-striker who was willing to strike.

recipe is for someone like gsp - don't initiate striking, just counter and counter take down...then in the champ rounds, you can strike if you want. I also don't think anderson's punching power is as great as many seem to think, he's not really a one punch ko type person.

Very bad fight for Anderson and it was flat-out strange.

The fighting style leads to the showboating and boring fights when he faces a non striker. He refuses to take chances and that leads to boring fights.

Well he always dances around in his fights. I'm just saying maybe he didn't want to knock him out.

The good news is, I think Dana gets GSP/Silva announced tonight. You know he's steaming mad at Silva and wants to do what he did after the Leites fight and hopefully fire Silva up. There's no way GSP gets clowned like Maia did.

One thing that annoyed me was, why did Maia wait until the 4th/5th to start throwing? The first 3 rounds he stood around moving his hands and going for weak takedown attempts. After the first 2 rounds he should've realized he had to start throwing bombs to have any chance.

Also, great job by Dan Murgioliotta (or however you spell his name) telling Anderson he would take a point away if he kept running.

I look at it the opposite way. What other fighter could even get away with running around in circles for 2 rounds and still get a unanimous decision?
