Maia's Ryu animation was better than Silva's Usain Bolt animation.

Ha, come on Born... he's gonna turn down a title fight just because he knows he's probably outclassed? If someone offers you a title fight, you take it... period. He'd have to be an idiot to do that, money-wise and in basically every other sense except preserving the structural integrity of his face. Even with this abortion of a fight, he came out smelling like roses compared to Silva despite getting his *** beat. Dana et al would lose respect for the guy if he shrunk from a title fight, he did the right thing taking the fight, he was just outclassed.

It's mainly the UFC's fault for making a horrible matchup, but in reality, this fight only happened due to injuries and due to Machida being a teammate of Silva's. Nobody really thought Maia had a chance (the climate made it even less likely), and Dana is probably as mad at himself for booking that fight as he is at Silva for acting like a dick. Bottom line though is that UFC fighters are supposed to have a killer instinct and try to finish if they have the chance... that's always been Dana's thing. Silva clearly doesn't have that, and now Dana's dealing with this petulant yet extremely talented guy as his Middleweight titleholder and one of the faces of his brand and doesn't even have good competition to put him up against without booking some superfight that he doesn't deserve after this disrespectful performance.

Tough situation for Dana... clearly Silva will sleepwalk through any fight that isn't a GSP/Brock type of affair. I'd love to see him and Vitor go at it, but I's REALLY love to see he and Mousasi fight... he can't get these cans thrown at him anymore though, or we'll be in store for more of these antics.

Only problem I have with your statement is Silva hasnt been fighting "cans". Maia was 7-1 in the UFC...he deserved a shot. Leites won 5 in a row...he deserved his shot. Same with Cote.

Rogan mentioned it during the show. This is the Bushido rule on it but it's mostly the same thing:

In BUSHIDO, red cards are used in the same way that yellow cards are used in PRIDE FC. In BUSHIDO, if fighters commit the following actions, they shall be given a red card by officials: Stalling or failure to initiate any offensive attack, making no attempt to finalize the match or damage the opponent, and holding the opponent's body with the arms and legs to produce a stalemate. A red card results in a 10% deduction/fine of the fighter's fight purse. A major difference in the penalty card system between PRIDE FC and BUSHIDO is that in PRIDE FC a total of three yellow cards results in a disqualification, while in BUSHIDO red cards can be given out in an unlimited number without disqualification
Some of this sounds like the 08-09 Patriots all over again when they were "running up the score" and it was the other teams job to stop them.

Yeah, not cans in the true sense... Really just fighters that can't step to him on the feet or don't have the takedown skills (a la GSP) to maybe get the fight to the ground. Maia could probably choke the **** out of him if he got decent position, but it's near impossible to even get Silva to the ground, much less keep him there and get good position. Like I said, he basically cleared out the division, and aside from injured guys or teammates, there's nobody for him except GSP and Brock. Undefeated submission fighters without good wrestling/takedown skills will get wrecked by him over an over again... the UFC has to give him someone who has a chance to knock him out or it'll never be an interesting fight. And even if that happens, it'll probably turn out much like the Griffin fight because Silva is such a bad-*** on his feet... still though, that's far better than another one of these performances.

Dana would be better off just letting him sit on the belt until he can line up a real challenge for him. These injuries made it really difficult...

Yea but the problem with that is when he faces a guy that likes to go to the ground he runs. He has done it multiple times now.

I mean granted I agree stay with what you are better at. But don't RUN. Stay in that strike zone. I mean most people know Matt Hughes will shoot for a take down but all his fights (expect this last one). Has had everything from stand up striking to ground and pound. You never see a fighter RUN. Few have done it and Few have done it on more than one occasion. Anderson has and is most likely the only one to have done it multiple times.

Totally disagree. Silva against Belfort would be a good fight. Silva against Sonnen would be a good fight. I think Silva would beat both but I would favor Silva against most fighters in the world. He is 2 fights away from cleaning out the division.

You cant have fighters sitting on belts. He's done that enough with the fact that he hadnt defended the belt in almost a year. If he is bored with the division, he should vacate the belt.

I want to see him against Belfort... I didn't mean that he cleaned out the division including those guys, they were unavailable due to injury. I phrased that badly. He'll murder Sonnen, but that would've been a better fight for sure. Damn injuries messed up a lot of great fights in the last year.

I would also rather see him vacate the belt than sit on it... but until Dana has another MW ready, there's nothing for him except superfights. A healthy Vitor is the only legit challenge to him at MW I think though...

I think he should vacate the belt also. He needs to stay in LHW where there is much more consistent talent to give him challenges. This is a sport, there is no NOT fighting friends.

But I am still holding out massive hope for a Brock vs Silva fight

Fedor vs Silva LOL If Dana was smart do u realize how huge this event would be. I bet largest selling UFC event.
Anderson Silva is clearly the most dominant fighter in the UFC. Fans have always had respect for Silva's fighting, even if they weren't too crazy about him as a person...

I would love Silva vs. Fedor... that would be a pretty fair fight size-wise between the two best 170 lb+ fighters in the world. I'd like to see Silva as a bit of an underdog against a bigger guy with a better record/more mystique... that's the only chance to probably see him in full-bore Kill Mode.

I had a flash back to my elementary days 10 some odd years ago. I felt myself waiting for some other fighter music to que up, followed by the fighter rushing the ring jumping the cage and destroying Silva haha.

It is quite obvious Silva is bored as a middleweight......Sonnen would be no match for him. I mean hell Maia beat Sonnen and in reality Sonnen is a smaller, weaker less skilled Dan Henderson.

His record shows he isn't good at all against anybody with decent average BJJ, Silbva would sub his butt with the quickness. Hell even Forrest Griffin subbed Sonnen with a triangle choke in 2003 in the IFC.

The only real challenge to Silva would be a striker like Belfort or Shogun. Silva vs Brock won't happen because that means Silva would have to gain a good 30 pounds to be a decent sized heavyweight and still would be a good 60 pounds smaller then Brock big self.
