Make him fight harder fighters like Belfort, GSP, Rua, Machida, Ortiz, Wanderla. Hell just kick him out of the middleweight division and say if you want to stay in the UFC you got to be a light heavyweight.
Its a waste of time to have him fight at 205 if he wont fight Machida and Silva has stated multiple times he wont. Why have him potentially beat contenders if there is a chance he will never fight for the belt?

technically......despite what he says, if he wants to continue to fight, eventually he will have to fight his friend. What he going to do leave the UFC and sign up with Strikeforce over it ??????

People keep talking about his extension and long term plans. Didn't Silva say that he no longer wanted to fight after the age of 35? Isn't this supposed to be his last year anyway?

And no, Silva's antics aren't that different from Quarry's. He just did it more. The act is the same.

I almost forgot all about this fight. I still laugh everytime I see Quarry running around swinging one arm at him. Better than Silva's thigh punch.

I enjoyed the Silva fight honestly. Couldn't keep my eyes off of it.

It does take two to tango, but that doesn't excuse Silva from avoiding pretty much any sort of attack the final 3 rounds.

It's very interesting how 99% of other MMA fighters don't have a problem finishing an inferior opponent. They don't need to resort to dancing and running around. Must say something about Silva's mental state or something, I don't know.

It's comical how "ZOMG his opponents sucked so bad" is an excuse for his dancing and failure to finish fights. Shouldn't that make it easier to finish if you're that much better than someone?
Silva had the fight won after round 3. It was nobody's job but Maia's to do something about that.

There's no excuses being made for anyone. There's no need for your hyperbole here.

Are you disputing that in the three fights you keep referring to that Silva's opponents are less to blame for the result? All three opponents were just as to blame as Silva bottom line.

Awww man I loved the fight and Anderson Silva had me rolling. I was thinking aww man Anderson Silva is my new favorite fighter.....theeeeeen round 3 hit. I began to get pissed off w/ him running. His and people who defend him excuses would have covered the 1st two rounds, but I'm completely baffled how bornindamecca and ex can defend him later in the fight. I mean Maia had a broken nose and a shut eye and Silva is literally running from him. WTF How in the hell can anyone defend that?? The 1st MMA fight I've ever seen where running has been sooo blatantly obvious. I mean the ref had to stop the fight and threaten taking away a point. What fight were some of you watching?

Yes - entirely different. Starnes was refusing to fight, trying to make a statement, and Quarry was finally just getting pissed about it and making him look like stupid for it. It was nothing like the Silva fight.

I just watched the fight and I must say that I was in awe of Silva's skills up until late in the 3rd round. EVERYTHING he threw out there not only connected but looked like it really hurt, I'm sure that Maia would attest to that.

I think that Silva was just gassed for the second half of the fight. He threw a limited amount of strikes, which were usually misses and just a fraction of the power of the strikes he threw in the first round. So the guy has poor stamina, you can't expect him to be perfect.

If you want to blame anyone blame, the ref. He waited until 50 seconds left in the 5th to threaten to deduct the point. If he's warns Silva at the beginning of the 4th, I'd bet Silva takes more of a risk and goes on the attack despite being tired.

Didn't Pride Fighting give yellow cards and take money from fighters who fought like Silva did the last couple rounds. For what purpose did Pride do that? Could and Should the UFC do that?

Dana should definitely look to some rule changes if he's going to be all pissed off that one of his champs retained his title and dominated.

Silva was within the current rules, so if that isn't acceptable then change the rules simple as that.

LOL. Yeah thats why he was upset....because he retained his title and dominated. I guess the 15,000 people were booing because fans he dominated Maia.

If you think I'm "defending" him then take another look at my posts.

Silva fought within the rules and clearly dominated the first 3 rounds. He had the decision 100% secured.

His antics were over the top but it was Maia's job to do something after he was being throttled. He didn't.

Like I said change the rules if people are going to get all outraged over a dominating win.

If you call that dominating then you need to watch some more MMA lol. He dominated in show boating.

Joking aside. He clearly did not dominate. He showed that he can get into fighters heads and make them hesitate. Make fighters fear his counter striking. But he in no way, shape, or form dominated.

Rd 1 - He out classed him with his speed and kept him off balanced this his crazy antics.

                                Rd 2 - Same thing

Rd 3 - He ran away in a circle more than any fighter I have seen

Rd 4 - More running = No dominating

Rd 5 - Even more running = even less dominating + more ref and crowd displeasure with him.

I am sorry but he looked "better" than him but no way did he dominate. He simply made a jack*** of himself.

Ohhh and Dana was not upset with his "dominating". He was pissed with his lack of respect for their new partners and lack of respect for paying fans to see a fight. They don't wanna see the "champ" run in a circle for 3 rounds.
