The majority of people who watch the UFC don't even know who Overeem is. He's a big name to us but he's a nobody to most of the fans.

We have our first fight: Poirier vs. Garza

Thats where Fox comes into play. You have to promote Overeem like a monster. The guy has the look. Promote that he hasn't lost since 2007. Show his KOs over Rogers and Duffee. Overeem/Mir wouldn't do the numbers Lesnar would but I think it could do better than Fedor or Kimbo's numbers on CBS.

Still after watching Dana's interview with Ariel, I'm not sure the November fight card is going to be a massive one. He called it a bonus card meaning that technically its not a part of the new Fox deal. This card is a part of the current TV deal that allows them to put fights on broadcast TV.
OK I definitely get the vibe and feeling it's gonna be a "bonus" card. The writing's on the wall.

It's simply not plausible for them to put out a knockout homerun card

Ok so its not gonna be a big card. Its basically only going to be a one hour show, 2 main fights, and then prelims so it will be like a normal card to those that see it in person but for those at home its a 1 hour show that will end just as the boxing event begins. This according to Lorenzo himself...
"We'll be out of there before Pacquiao even walks to the ring. This is going to be a perfect night for any fight fan. Get together with your friends, watch two big fights in the UFC and then change the channel to ride into the Pacquiao pay-per-view. It's going to be a little different with the first one. It's going to literally be back-to-back action. We aren't going to mess around with a lot of pre-fight commentary, post-fight commentary. We are going to roll right in, set up the fights and let the action go. For the people coming live in Anaheim, it will be just like a full pay-per-view. It's a full fight card and if the first (televised fight) goes real quick, we'll fill in like we always do."

Well lets slot Machida/Davis in there. The first big one will probably be in February. They could use a big bump on Saturdays during sweeps.

I have to say I don't necessarily like this plan but, I completely understand why they're going this route. Honestly, they didn't really have much choice since the Big 4 (Lesnar, GSP, Rampage and Anderson Silva) wouldn't be available. Hopefully, they'll get some guys in there that will provide entertaining fights so that maybe they'll make a good first impression on the new potential fans out there.

To add to this according to the Sports Business Journal Fox is going to pay the UFC an average of approx. 100 million per year during the course of the deal compared to Spike who paid them 35 million per year previously.

I dont see that happening. Too much potential for a snoozer.

so glad they're finally getting rid of the laughably horrible and outdated gladiator nu-metal intro crap for the events.

Doesnt mean the intro song is going to change. I actually love the intro music. The gladiator part is dated though.

Same here. I hope they keep the music.

Looks like Gus Johnson will be a part of the UFC broadcasts. Not doing play by play but hosting the pre and post shows. Jay Glazer will probably be a part of it too.

I like the music too. I sing along in my screamo voice to get myself pumped up for the PPV's. It pisses my girlfriend off something fierce.

                              Keep Gus away

Any word on Jay Glazer ? He may be a decent addition for that type of role.
